I won my tribunal. How long does it take to get backdated pay? Will I get normal payments still?

Hi really hoping someone can help! I received my decision from my tribunal today to say I have been awarded standard mobility. Since requesting the appeal my health has gotten significantly worse. Can I do a change of circumstances or do I need to start a new claim?
    thankyou.
You cannot make a new claim because you now have an award. Wait until you have confirmation from DWP of the award and you can then do a change of circumstances.

After you report a change the process is essentially the same as a new claim - complete a new health form, get assessed and then get a decision. This will be a completely new assessment.

Take advice about your possible entitlement before reporting a change. It’s only worth report if you are likely to get additional points and they might be enough to change the level of award,

It's not helpful to ask the same questions on multiple threads. Members here post freely with the advice they give when they are free to advise.

    Hi guys,

I'm new to all this so bear with me. I had my Appeal on thhe 22/2/23, found out the following Monday I'd been awarded the enhanced rate for both to be backdated to 1/6/21, I can't put into words how happy I am. My advice for everyone is Welfare Rights!! They have been amazing for me, they are so supportive and made the whole process far less stressful!!

Advice if your not happy with the decision follow process and push all the way to tribunal depending on your circumstances I found face to face the best option even though the hmcts premises was in a pedestrian area and 50mtrs approx from parking area took me a few stops on the way but the effort was with it in the end

My advice after appeal win and you find out on the day, would be to contact DWP around 5 working days after appeal and ask the question when your getting payed, I did this and was told 2 weeks ( nearly half way through that 2 weeks now) because I rang in after 5 days the decision was on the system so they asked me the questions about hospital , prison being out of the country and care home, always pays to pester rather than wait for DWP to get in touch, if I don’t hear anything by the end of this week I’ll be back on the phone pestering

This thread is from 7 months ago and the member you tagged hasn’t been active since that time so you may not get
    a reply.

Its perfectly normal to be waiting up to 8 weeks after a Tribunal win. I know they asked the questions about hospital etc but this doesn’t mean the award will be put into payment as soon as those questions have been asked.

I realise it’s stressful but there’s nothing more you can do but wait.

That's not exactly correct because it will depend on each individuals circumstances. Also if someone is claiming New style ESA there's no premiums or anything payable with this.

I have just won my PIP appeal ten months after my initial claim and was wondering if they paid interest on the money owed?

Hey there @TheHaddok and welcome to the community! Congratulations on your appeal win, that must be a huge relief? Unfortunately interest is not paid on any back pay.

Hello All. I'm new here. I've just been reading your post.....hope you don't mind.  I've had DLA, then PIP.  For the past 16 years and suddenly had all my pip taken off me.  M condition had not changed.  There has been an enormous amount of hard work putting together a case for a reconsideration.  I'm truly exhausted as I'm sure each of you are too.
I just wanted to say how pleased I am for your good news at winning your (erm sorry the word has gone) well, at winning anyway.  It has given me a bit of hope where there just wasn't any left. /well done to all of you.  It's hard enough changing your life and accepting the new person isn't it.  But you have all fought for whet you know you are entitled to.
Thank you for allowing me the space.
    Kind Regards
    Netty

    My situation -

Won on 16th August 2024, chased them the following week a few times then they on 27th asked me the question about whether I’d been in a care home or prison and then confirmed bank details. He seemed sure it would be one whole week. This seems to marry up with the info on this post where a lady said she got told 8 days, and another said once they’ve asked those questions it goes to get paid. Then once they “pay” it’s up to your bank. I am with Monzo and they always pay early.

So in theory in expecting my back payment on or around Tuesday 3rd September. The only issue is it’s £11000 so I don’t know whether it will flag as it’s a large payment.

Let me know how you get on!

Oh blimey, congratulations @Olilad that's quite a payout! Any back payment is disregarded for a full year after you receive it.

I know right? But let me be clear I have starved pretty much every week for the last 6 months. It’s been awful.

Onwards and upwards though. When you refer to “disregarded” you mean as in I can’t be penalised for having “savings” that would take me over a threshold per se?

I can totally understand that @Olilad it does feel like they're trying to starve you out of claiming at times. My wait was 18 months, so I can empathise. Just make sure you buy yourself some really nice take outs, you've certainly earned them!

Correct, they'll not class that money as savings for a full year. But if you have any other savings that would be over 6k, then that would still be counted.
