Hello can someone tell me my daughter who is a carer for me. She didn't get paid her universal credit today, she normally gets paid the 1st of each month. We rang dwp they said it was suspended. Well my daughter had changed her number so she wasn't getting any messages.

Well they said they need to review her claim to see if she's getting the right amount. So they need her to send them photo I'd and 4 months bank statements. Is this right. And normal procedure. Please advise

Also I had issues with my card so we got another one so I between I was transferring money to my daughters account so we could pay bills and order taxis etc, and few months ago she would transfer money into mine because she would borrow of me than pay me back. I'm wondering would this been an issue or they don't look at that. It's all new to us. But if my daughter is a carer for me why would she need a review as she looks after me 35 hours a week.

It will be a review of her claim to make sure it's correct, they are reviewing millions of people and have been for quite sometime. Unfortunately, being a carer doesn't exclude her from this.

She will need to make sure she sends those bank statements. Is her claim suspended because she didn't send what they asked her to send? Once she sends them the suspension should be lifted. I have no idea how long that will take.

Providing her savings/capital hasn't gone over £6,000 then it will be fine.

Unfortunately, this is normal for them, yes. Very intrusive for us.

Do not send ID or original documents by post in case they get lost. Count every document you hand over at a Job Centre and count again when they are handed back!

Always check whether her statement is available on the due date (sometimes available earlier than they say) so there is time to query problems before payment is due.

Thankyou poppy, it was suspended because they were contacting her on her old number we have since updated. And she can upload the required documents via phone. As for savings she probably has £17 to her name.

Hello can anyone tell me in September will labour change the pip assessment for new applications or both old too. We hear different things all the time. And I'm sure I read that we should be getting ready for the vouchers to be given out. I wish this would all stop as its already taken a toll on my mental health I don't think folk know the impact it has.

There is some misleading news going around that they are changing the PIP assessments @Bostankhan22, but we've seen nothing to suggest that there will actually be changes to the assessment at all. The only thing that we know is changing is how the contracts between the government and the assessing company are carried out. They are being merged with the WCA contracts.

Can anyone also tell me is pip stopping in October. Someone posted online that DWP told her this when she rung them. I mean how can they say that to her and over the phone too. Please someone advise if this is true. Everyone panicking now.

Hi @Bostankhan22, PIP won't be stopping in October. The government may be talking about how the benefits system works around that time, but they won't be able to make any immediate changes.

You cannot rely on anything said over the phone. They are just words. We need to check everything for ourselves and secure written confirmation if it is to mean something.

When a new law is passed, it is assumed that we have all read and understood it. Of course we haven't but it remains our responsibility to know the facts.

Can someone tell me the autumn budget what is that about. Something popped up today on my phone regarding the autumn budget and them deciding the cut the disability benefits. And are they targeting the mental health. I get the reassurance than something else like this pops up. So come autumn we are having benefits cuts is this correct. Please advise yet again. Thankyou

Liz Kendall will be making a statement on October 7th.

Even then, any plans announced will be subject to the usual legislative process. Nothing will happen overnight - the only reason winter fuel allowance changes happened so quickly is because that payment wasn't a legal right, unlike welfare benefits.

If changes are made to welfare benefits, how long before they are put in place. Do they have to pass the parliament first.

Can someone tell me what the autumn budget is for. I read its to decide to cut down welfare benefits. Mainly pip. If they decide in autumn how long before it is put in place. And how likely that the cuts or the pip completely finish

    Please advise

The government has a budget statement that is made in Autumn that dictates government spending for the next tax year (that starts in April). It covers all government spending, not just welfare.

Major changes to welfare benefits will likely require legislation, this can be a potentially years long process. Then it takes time for such things to be implemented, then there can also be legal challenges if people believe the government is acting not in accordance with other laws (such as the Equality Act). There are many steps and there is a lot of time to put in your own voice to your Member of Parliament.

The government has made no suggestion that they are removing PIP. Speculation at this point isn't helpful to yourself or others.

Can someone tell me if they also got a letter saying they been selected for a review of my housing benefit.

My daughter who us 22 has always lived with me. She is a registered carer for me and I receive the highest pip. Now would this affect my housing benefit or not. Please advise

It just means they are reviewing your housing benefit claim to make sure it's correct. You maybe asked to provide some bank statements too.

If your PIP includes the daily living part there would be no non dependant deductions anyway.

Hi poppy, I receive the highest rate for both but not the premium. My daughter lives with me as she is a registered carer who claims universal credit. I hope it won't affect my housing. She is getting carers since 2022

As your PIP includes the daily living part then there's no non dependant deductions for your daughter from your housing benefit. This is just a normal review, which does happen sometimes.
