I've been doing some research regarding this.

Generally UC won't stop or be reduced if you are in Hospital for under 6 months.

My take is a 24+ hour stay may trigger a WCA, or affect job search commitments.

I had a 5 night stay recently and didn't inform UC, because I already have LCWRA and didn't see that it changed anything, so in my opinion they didn't need to be informed.

Your advice about those that are claiming Income Related ESA not migrating to UC until 2028/29 is incorrect! Managed migration for those people have been brought forward to anytime from now until end of Dec 2025.

I know I said about the esa review was bizarre, but then again what do I know, I have had a terrible week, being now checked for bpd . I seem not to think when posting stuff. Which I get attacked . I've been told by a person , that I'm making up ihave autism, using it for excuse.im not, and I've been diagnosed. Not on scope I hasten to add. But I won't post things on anything again.finding so hard at the moment. So I say good bye as I'm not posting again

I got what you meant @Andi66, it seems pointless for them to do even if it is correct that they are!

Please don't stop posting, I really enjoy your posts and you shouldn't be put off posting ❤️

Whoever said you're making up having autism is ridiculous, and clearly doesn't know you, try not to let them bother you!!

It's interesting about bpd, lots of personality traits and symptoms of autism and adhd are the same as bpd, and historically lots of women were diagnosed with bpd when they actually only had autism/adhd. I've been reading lots about it lately and find it really fascinating!! I'm so sorry your week has been terrible and I good luck with your bpd assessments xxxx

I hope to still see you posting ❤️

There's a group/web page https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-esa-queries-results lots of info, guides on how to fill forms , even forms you can fill in and it tells you what you could be awarded, worth a look

That's benefits and work which costs £20/year membership and not everyone can afford that amount of money unfortunately.

    Hello folks.

After being on a legacy benefit for many years my partner and I suddenly received our migration letter to UC with the the cut off hitting before the end of this month, ( we live in Scotland, for context and reference) incase anyone else has received a similar letter.

Because I have mobility problems and my partner has PTSD and CTSD and other additional needs we weren't quite sure how to navigate things, so we had a welfare rights officer get involved who came to our house for a home visit and completed the forms with and for us, she was amazing, a fit note was supplied for my partner and as I am a full time carer one was not required for myself, the only slight hiccup was that we only had one form of picture ID each, and you need 2, (Passport, drivers licence and Provisionals are all accepted) however bus passes including NEC cards are currently not accepted forms of picture ID for reference.

So because of this we are going to be receiving a Biographical phone call next week and a possible ID home visit thereafter to verify that, which can be requested if someone has disabilities, additional needs and or vulnerabilities however a possible additional home visit may also be required, as my partner cannot cope with face to face appointments due to his additional and very complex needs, once these have taken place the application will move forwards.

We were told from the day we applied to migrate we would receive one more IS payment ( as a 2 week period of grace is given) before all of our usual money ceases minus our PIP as that wont change, this will be for approx 5 weeks, but as we normally get our IS every fortnight it will mean that we should only be one week more than normal to wait before our UC is awarded so then instead of receiving our IS we will have our UC.

Also it is also advised to have your benefits checked before you migrate over by welfare rights as once you have migrated over if its incorrect it could mean you actually getting less than you are actually entitled, our Welfare rights officer noticed that we had been underpaid and the DWP had to give us a backdated figure, so that meant we got money back we were entitled and as it was there error they cannot use it against us figuratively as it was money owed to us by the DWP this also and importantly meant that we were migrating to UC on the correct income meaning that we would in turn get the correct UC when it had migrated which let me tell you will make a huge difference in our lives moving forwards, so please, please have a benefits check done before you migrate if there is any advise I can provide that could help anyone else moving forwards with their UC migration I would be only to happy to support where I can.

    Blessings x

Has anyone reported hospital stays to dwp whilst on pip before (even just 1 nights stay). How did it go? What did you have to tell them? Did they then do "a change of circumstances", if so, how did that go?

You don't need to report a hospital stay of just one day for PIP. You only need to report it if it's longer than 28 days. Also the day you go in and the day you come home are not counted.

Thanks Poppy. It says on the award letter to report even 1 night stay. So if going in and coming out don't count why have they said to inform them of even 1 nights stay, on their letters. Or is that (as I suspect) just so people do that and then they do a review.

    Hi,

I am trying to understand. My ESA and Housing B are paid in alternating weeks. WillI loose more of my Housing B if I will apply on the wrong day of the month?

Which day, if there is a difference, is best to apply? Is it juts two weeks before my last Housing Benefit, or it does not matter? Will they do a just calculation?

    Any advice, please?

It doesn't really matter when you apply because you will still receive 2 extra weeks of Income Related ESA and HB once you submit your claim for UC.

Your first UC payment will be just under 5 weeks after you submit your claim. With the run on of both the above benefits it will be 3 weeks without money.

When you receive your first payment of UC it will be for 1 months money.

The table of dates from the website ucmove.campaign.gov.uk, I see that has been updated (for ESA only and ESA + HB, September this year). It look them long enough to update that. September 2024 should have appeared in the ESA only and ESA + HB sections of that table a lot sooner.

They can take as long as possible to get the envelope containing a migration notice letter ✉️ to my address. I don’t want one of “those” 😳😱😬 coming to my address that fast 💨. I will be asking for an APA to change the “dreadful” monthly frequency, as I’ve always said, and I should get that granted, as I’ve always said too. But I am in absolutely no rush to move over.

I will not be made accept monthly payments in my life when they would be terribly unworkable for me. I am someone who doesn’t have the budgeting skills and I cannot budget to please/satisfy anyone from the DWP. It’s not a case of, “here you go Chris, here’s more money 💶 for you, you’re getting more than what you were getting on ESA but you’re required to budget monthly”. No way! Absolutely no way! To me, the frequency of payments are just as critical as any amount of money given. I am a vulnerable claimant who’s never had the budgeting skills. I will not change my mind, my thoughts, on monthly payments. No-one will make me change my thoughts and I will not be made to like them, regardless of UC being designed to reflect the world of work. Fortnightly payments, they win 🥇🏆 hands down for me 👍✅✔️☑️.

@ChrisSCOPEhtfc94 please calm down. Just request the APA when you claim it will not be an issue.

Honestly I'm dreading it, and by the calculations I may be worse off. I wish my esa review form was looked at. To see if I am placed in the support group than LCW . My health has got much worse. January I sent it back.

I am just the type of person in life that gets fixated on something Poppy. I am like this with other things as well.
