Autism/Depression

Went to the doctors, she was reluctant to refer me , because of the label, what good will it do. I said I wanted to know. I had written some notes from the website mind to say this is how I feel. She said change my med to sertaline, I've been on that, citalprham, and now fluxotine. They don't work. She seems to think it was anxiety because I was nervous, and not good at explaining. So I don't know if I be seen, I've been through healthy minds, said I needed more than that, had counselling.
She saw me less than 5 minutes.

So sorry to hear how it went with the doctors @Andi66 . It is a horrible feeling when your telling them something and they decide they know what's best which isn't the outcome we want. We do get worried when it comes to doctors appointments surely they should recognise that and understand. I am so truly very sorry. I can imagine how you are feeling. Sometimes getting the feeling we are not listened too properly or they just want to rush us out the door. It definitely isn't right and it definitely isn't fair . I often wonder what do we have to do to get them to understand and help us properly. My heart goes out to you and i wish you wasn't having all this to deal with . They tell us to get in touch but then well what can I say . I hope and pray for better time ahead for you @Andi66 . Please take care of yourself and please be kind to yourself too. If there is anyone else you can contact I would contact them hopefully a better outcome will come your way .

Hi @Andi66 I have found mental health services rubbish it’s almost a nonexistent service, Psychatrist put me on practically every medication going over the years, some medications helped for short periods and some didn’t help at all, all medications had awful side effects that I just had to bear for weeks to months at a time. They now refuse to give me any medication as they have said that I am treatment resistant, so I got put on a waiting list for talking therapies, I am still waiting over a year later with no news! I have already done several therapies over the years too, but willing to take any help I can get. I have personally found that Lorazepam or diazepam work best for me, better than any antipsychotics or SSRIs diazepam and lorazepam calm me down, they ease my racing thoughts and I genuinely feel relaxed, they also help with my severe insomnia, best part with these tablets is that I don’t have any side effects or withdrawal symptoms (as I take them responsibly) and I don’t have to take these tablets every day, I only take them when I am having a really bad day. Hope you are feeling abit better now ❤️

Still anxious about it, I waited 4 years for one to one counselling bur it can help a bit, if you have these disorder like bpd only certain things help. I don't care about a label, just want to know if I got it, or going mad, my daughter has it. She was very negative

I don't find any therapy or talking helps me much @Andi66 that saying that doesn't mean that others won't benefit. So sorry you have had to wait so long it must be a terrible ordeal for you . Just wondering if you could speak with a different doctor at your surgery 🤔. Also sorry to hear about your daughter too . I hope it was ok to respond to you . I think you was answering Kali85 . Sorry to intrude. I hope you can get some answers soon . Look after yourself please.

evening everyone, been reading a few pages of the thread.
To answer the initial question. I was diagnosed with chronic clinical depression a very very long time before the autism.
I was diagnosed with depression while still at school 14 or 15 which would of been around 1996.
since then To this day I have depression for about half of every year on average, Christmas is always a problem.
I was diagnosed with tourettes and adhd in 1999.
FINALLY got diagnosed with stage 2 bordering stage 3 autism (ironically 8 years ago today) age 34.
she was an absolute sweetheart and made me feel so comfortable and ask anything I liked about her diagnosis.

Hi @Nightcity sorry to hear about the depression that you suffer with, I too suffer badly with depression, Christmas can be especially hard for me too. I sincerely wish that there was a quick fix or a cure for severe depression, such a cruel thing to suffer with. Sending you kind wishes

I appreciate the feedback @Nightcity , but I am sorry to hear how tough everything has been for you . Like Kali says depression is difficult to deal with I empathise with you on depression. I've been diagnosed with adhd and I'm awaiting an autism assessment. I have many autistic traits but only the test will give me a answer. It's so nice to be able to talk openly here and have such great support . Glad you got answers too . Your such a kind soul don't ever forget that . Thanks for sharing your story with us here today. Take care of yourself and keep being you .

Worrying over and over

Not wanting to wake up due to the worrying.

I'd not say we worry more than anyone else tbh. But it could be general anxiety. But you'd need to speak to your GP about that as there are ways of coping. 😊

mine is out of control and takes over my life, to the point I get physical symptoms like throwing up, migraines and painful leg fasciculations (muscle /nerve spasms)
everyone is different with autism of course but me personally?; hell yes is worrying an issue

I am like that @Albus_Scope . I'm just going to wait for the assessment.
