Labour has not provided clear information regarding its plans for the Work Capability Assessment nor has there been explicit confirmation that they will fully adopt the Conservative party's proposals for changes to the WCA.

I agree that if Labour follows the original plans closely, there is no evidence suggesting that existing members of the support group will be affected. Typically, reforms protect current claimants from immediate changes. However, without explicit confirmation from Labour, it is important to monitor updates closely from the DWP and government websites.

A White Paper on the Plan to Get Britain Working is anticipated this autumn. With only a few weeks left in the season, it may be published soon, potentially alongside the upcoming budget. Please note that this is my personal perspective, and I have no concrete evidence to support the timing of the paper’s release. For more information, see the link below for the last government update on this subject, dated 10 September 2024.

He can do one !!! I worked in mental health was a support worker worked job centre worked with youths elderly all of these jobs was overworked unsupported worse was job center the staff are treated like cattle have unrealistic targets to achieve the whole structure is toxic tired burnt out start resenting clients labelling them scroungers smelly lost all humanity and empathy I used to relate to clients I used to cry in toilets I couldn't bare it I left with no way of paying rent then worked with youths that was same staff labelled most as trouble makers from someone who wad in care and dyslexic didn't know I had adhd undiagnosed but 100 percent have we new some was being literally groomed and could do noting heart used to break could see no help I won't even say about treatment of elderly I got sacked for hitting member of staff for pulling lady hard from her chair how did I get on this subject ??? My point is in public sector work you go in wanting to make a difference but soon become apart of the toxicity same with DWP do a great job of dehumanising us plus I never know how I held jobs down

Can someone please point me to evidence that current support group won't be thrown off LCWRA? I was under the impression that that was a misunderstanding that was quickly corrected after it was misreported at the time. I'm pretty sure that they reworded it as "unless they have a change in circumstances or a reassessment" which as we know, happens to all of us eventually. Personally I haven't had a WCA since 2018, I've no doubt that when I'm migrated to UC I'll be in line for one, if it's after April, it will be under the new rules? Which as I'm under the substantial risk rules, would mean me being thrown into the LCW group, with all the meetings, work prep and sanctions that go with it. I won't be able to do that. I hope Ellen Clifford is successful, many of us really need her to be.

Thanks for sharing the assembly’s views! I agree that the job coaching service sounds promising, especially since it’s open to outpatients receiving talking therapies. It’s great to see such initiatives being trialled at a well regarded institution like Slam.

While I recognise that these initiatives may not be suitable for everyone, I believe some members could find this approach very helpful in their quest to re-enter the workplace. It’s important that we support each other in finding the right paths for our individual needs.

Out of interest, what is your assembly currently focusing on, and who is organising it?

Good question! You will be reassessed under the rules introduced by the Welfare Reform and Work Act 2016.

Reeves is the smooth, unflappable accountant. Half the Cabinet has worked in DWP we should remember (maybe a little exaggeration)

Kendall is a *desperate woman, yes! She practically wrote the Labour disability manifesto for General Election 2015 herself! With a bit of help from that nice man Stephen Timms. Both apologists for a dishonourable gentleman whose name I'd rather not mention.

*desperate not to be found out
