I’m going to submit my claim for UC next week, I don’t want to wait any longer

That's us in agreement then!

I do know that there can be random spot checks to check claimants don’t have any capital/savings above £6,000 but when I’ve moved across that shouldn’t happen to me for good while.

Having £600 in my account would be a fine thing!I

😂👍
I’ve never had anywhere near 6,000 in capital/savings and I’ll always be below that limit after I’ve moved across.

As they are random checks they can happen at any time. I have seen people who hadn't been claiming long at all be selected for one.

If I was on Universal Credit right now under a twice monthly frequency ❤️(love more frequent payments 😂😁) I’d be getting £404.82 per payment. The maths, that’s of course £809.64 ➗ 2 , you can tell from that I’d be better off. ✅☑️✔️
That’s when compared to £318.10 per fortnight on ESA.0 -
The rates of benefits go up each April each year so £809.64 will be rising to £823.41.
This is made up of the Standard allowance for being over 25 years old and being a single person and the LCWRA element.
£823.41 ➗2 (because of twice monthly payments ❤️💋😘) would make that £411.70 per payment.

I’ll co-operate and provide whatever they ask for anyway as it’s the same for everyone. But, I’d like to think as they are still totally at random that I won’t be selected for a check for some time after moving across.

The reason why I’ll qualify for the APA is highlighted in yellow, it’s not like I have to repeat myself 😂. I can’t count how many times I’ve said why I’ll qualify on the forum.
My lack of budgeting skills is linked to my autism.
I’m afraid I can’t be encouraged to budget when I don’t have those skills. It’s easier said than done.0 -
Let's us know how you get on goodluck

I don’t think I’ll need too much luck 🍀, I am rather positive that the claim will go as planned with no problems. I just need to be paid ✔️ to me twice a month, that’s the biggest requirement that has to be met for my claim.

My APA request won’t be turned down, I think UC will be understanding of my lack of ability to budget due to my autism. Also, I am moving from a benefit that pays fortnightly and I’ve always been used to the fortnightly structure. I think of all this will come into their minds too.

At the end of the day, only the claimants knows what they can and can’t do. I know I can’t budget, I know I can’t shift to a monthly frequency after receiving fortnightly ESA payments for an incredibly long time. My comfort zone is more frequent payments and common sense has to prevail, which it will. Understanding has to be shown of my limited ability to budget and it will. I’ll be asking for the APA on the day I claim - Wednesday 5 Feb. ✔️✅☑️

I have it all planned out perfectly Catherine ✔️. When you choose to trigger the claim can be important. I know there’s a 5 week wait until the first payment but during those 5 weeks I won’t actually have a 3 week gap without any money 💷.
Tuesday 4 Feb, I get my PIP payment for February. The day after on Wednesday 5 Feb, I get a £318.10 payment from ESA. On this day, I do the claim for UC.
Two weeks later on Wednesday 19 Feb, I receive my final ESA payment. They also call this payment the 2 week run on payment.
Two weeks later on Tuesday 4 March, I receive my PIP payment for March.
Then, 1 week later on Tuesday 11 March, I get the first payment from UC.
^ If you look at that timeline very carefully, I don’t have a 3 week gap without any money. 😃😃😃😃
My assessment periods will be 5 - 4th each month.
@Catherine210 -
I could have got the claim in for UC just last week when I had a PIP and ESA payment respectively on consecutive days (PIP Tuesday 7th Jan, ESA Wednesday 8th Jan). But, I ended up changing my mind to do a claim @Catherine21.

I have to wait until the W/C February the 3rd @Catherine21 because by submitting my claim in that week (payments from PIP and ESA on back to back days), I won’t have a 3 week gap without money in the 5 week wait. I’ve got my timings ⏳ spot on.

I’ll be getting that claim in and getting a huge weight off my shoulder. I think about UC every single day. Just delaying all the time just wouldn’t do my mental health any good. I’m in a fortunate position - I can move across sooner (voluntary migration) and don’t have to wait for any migration letter to show up, which could still be months and months away. I’m grabbing the opportunity with both hands 🙌.

If my Income Related Employment and Support Allowance had the Severe Disability Premium in it I wouldn’t find myself in this fortunate position, where I can just do a voluntary migration. I’d have no other option but to wait for the letter. But, my ESA only has the Enhanced Disability Premium in it. That’s why I can do a voluntary move to UC. @Catherine21

Highlighted in green @Catherine21 in the image, that’s why I have never been able to get the SDP/Severe Disability Premium in my ESA.
My mother is my main carer and she gets Carer’s Allowance for looking after me. I live at home with my parents.
