First payment UC
Just got notice of my first UC payment - assessment period 02 Jan to 01 Feb 2025.
Standard allowance £393.45
LCWRA - £416.19
Transitional protection - £232.75
NEW Style ESA deduction - £598.87 - giving a payment of £443
I believe I understand what the figures mean, but perhaps not the Transitional protection figure?

If you look at the UC award before deductions, does it match what you were getting a month in legacy benefits?
To convert a weekly benefit to monthly you multiply by 52 then divide by 12.

As you were in the Support Group for ESA if that includes the SDP then I would say that Transitional Protection amount is correct because it would be about £140/month for that and an extra £89/month for the Enhanced disability Premium, which is a total of around £230/month.
Don't forget you also receive £276.40/fortnight for ESA as well as your UC payment each month. It's very easy to forget you have that ESA payment as well.

Thanks Poppy. That is very helpful, and yes, I remembered about the NS ESA!

I wouldn't dare try to answer that, Daniel, but hopefully Poppy or Kimmy will be along shortly to help you.

New award matches legacy benefits to the penny. So simple, but I probably wouldn't have thought to multiply by 52 then divide by 12. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting for my poor, tender head ;-)

Adding the fortnightly and monthly payments together was like The Krypton Factor to me! Thanks again Poppy.

Your question was answered yesterday on your thread here. Your first payment is 14th Feb.

You're welcome. It's very easy to forget that there's 4.3 weeks in a month, not 4 weeks and many people forget this or don't realise.
