Anyone shed any light on the bank account checks and powers coming to take money out of your account, I mean why would they. They know what's coming in and j have no savings. I use for shopping, lottery a small amount and sometimes transfer to my daughter which I reference as mum. So why is this still going on.

Also what is this eirh you can't go on holiday, my daughter saves up and as do I little bit by bit we have a huge jar my daughter got from IKEA and we as and when put something aside for anything really a treat to eat or as my daughter says mum we could do with a break which j don't go anywhere. And if we did I can't stay away the most a week. So what we can't do that. And they will look at your passports for a week. And another one which is out there that they can come and search your house… i Mean for what exactly...my jar of savings. Honestly this makes me want to immigrate to an island and take my daughterand my cat with us. This country is not the country i knew bavk in the days so sad and i just am getting myself so sick over what. Sorry guys but I just feel so down and saddened for everyonewho is in more or less same situation and overthinks too much like myself.

They've always had the ability to check bank accounts if they suspect fraud. They won't just check bank accounts for no reason at all. Searching your home? where did you get that from?

Yes, you can go on holiday, what makes you think you can't? You can spend your money on anything you want to and there's never been any rules for that. I've just booked my holiday for this year, just like I do every year.

My advice would be to stop reading those click bait articles because they contain mostly incorrect information.

It's all on tiktok or just general when my daughter scrolls down her phone she will tell me. It makes me feel quite sick and thought they just want to target the sick. Thankyou so much for putting my mind at rest.

No, if you’re going out of the country when claiming ESA you can go for up to 4 weeks. For PIP it’s 13 weeks.

Hello can anyone let me know if you all have migrated to universal credit yet. I am in esa support group and housing benefit and not had a migration letter yet. Getting slightly worried about the whole thing and don't want to be worse off. I hope the change is simple as I have trouble with these sort of stuff and panic leads to stress and worse for me. Please advise

Please read through the thread again to remind yourself of previous advice given.

Your questions about not having a letter, worries about being worse off and not coping with the change have all already been answered in December and January.

You will need to verify your identity. Depending on which ID you have available, this can be done online, or over the phone, or at a Job Centre, or at a home visit.

You will not need another work capability assessment because your ESA work status gets carried across into UC.

Hello everyone, I am wondering and getting very anxious about the news about the pip reforms and how the changes are literally around the corner. I have been feeling so unwell thinking if they take away my award. I'm on pip for mental health and I get the enhanced rate and my award is til 2026. I'm so worried as its already a struggle for me and I find this scope my only family apart from my daughter who is my sole carer. Its the not knowing and I'm getting all stressed out thinking they are attacking the disabled and ones who have mental health, I thought they were here to support not throw you under the bus. Any updates from anyone or Any thoughts as how soon if it was to go ahead. I find it very sick that the disabled are being a target I feel for people like myself.

They can't fast track the legal process.

They were able to change the Winter fuel payment criteria so quickly because it was a government perk, not protected by legislation.

Green Paper: These are our plans, what do you think.

    Consultation and feedback.

Then they release a White Paper.

White Paper: These are our proposals

Then the long legal process, going through both houses of parliament, delayed by any court challenges, amendments proposed by the House of Lords.

    Then they finally become law.

The whole process takes years, and what eventually becomes law is usually a watered down version of the Green paper

Unless you live in supported or sheltered housing, your rent will be paid via UC Housing Element. It should stay the same.

You'll need to let your local council know you've claimed UC. They'll probably ask to see your first payment statement so your Council Tax Reduction award can be recalculated.

Some local authorities treat UC income differently to legacy benefits, and some people have seen an increase in what they need to pay towards their CT.

As each area has different rules we cannot advise on individual cases from here.
