Today loopy Trump has decided to charge tariffs at 200% on Alcohol from EU - Whether that includes UK (Scotch) is unclear - but could mean that US residents will have to survive on Bourbon instead of Scotch !

oh yes, he bought himself a Tesla yesterday - but is not allowed to drive it !

Because his driving licence expired over 4 years ago, at age 74 and has not been renewed !!

Can you imagine Trump driving any car - he would be extremely dangerous, demanding the right of way at every junction

That's not exactly true. It's a retaliation threat of imposing a 200% tarriff on the EU if it doesn't remove the 50% tarriff they've imposed on American whiskey.

Let's see where the chess pieces move again.

@Wibbles that gave me a laugh thank you 😊!! We need to be able to laugh, i wouldn't stop crying i think if I started. He'd probably think of something to ban everyone from driving/wrong colour car etc so he'd have the roads all to himself. My eyes have rolled so much 🙄🤨🤣 since he got in and all his shenanigans. Might send him my opticians bill if it damages my eyes. He's dangerously deranged 😪🥹

I think you'll find egister knows Eastern Europe far better than the rest of us.

In any case, it's not ok to insult people here just because you disagree with something.

The American system is very convoluted, with a tonne of checks and balances, many of which I still don't fully understand. 😆

Shutdowns happen when funding legislation required to finance the federal government, is not enacted before the next fiscal year begins. So basically they have two weeks to get the current funding situation sorted out, or there's going to be a shutdown. This is being taken advantage of by the president, to try and push through legislation he wants into law. But some Democrats are now pushing back.

I just saw that @MW123 I'm guessing certain Democrats really aren't happy right now. They seem quite divided over this.

Then you certainly know about the Polish intervention in Russia and the occupation of Moscow by the Poles between 1610 and 1612, as well as about the Partitions of Poland and Congress Poland as part of the Russian Empire. You should also know that the Russian Empire and the USSR built industry in Poland.
Approximately the same way as the Austro-Hungarian Empire built industry in Bohemia and Moravia (now the Czech Republic).

All this only confirms what I said, that the countries of Eastern Europe have been fighting each other for centuries.

    Yes, I know...

I think you know what the "Battle of Warsaw" aka "Miracle on the Vistula" in 1920 was?

Do you also know what happened in Poland in Poznań in 1956, in Gdańsk in 1970 and 1989? and on 13.12.1981?

Getting back to the point, the statement that "Poland is part of the Russian Empire" is inadequate and misleading.

Being under the occupation of the "empire" and being part of it is a significant difference, don't you think?

and if the Polish people had not stood up against the Russian empire in 1989, you and your country would still be part of it and you would still be watching The UK on TV.

    P.S

Poland was NEVER a Russian republic, i.e. part of the USSR, unlike the Baltic countries such as Estonia, which you probably come from, so please stick to the facts.

    https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odzyskanie_niepodleg%C5%82o%C5%9Bci_przez_Polsk%C4%99_w_1918_roku
3 marca – Rosja Radziecka na mocy traktatu brzeskiego uznała niepodległość Polski[4]
29 sierpnia – Rosja Radziecka dekretem swojego rządu, czyli Rady Komisarzy Ludowych, anulowała traktaty dotyczące rozbiorów Polski, a tym samym, jako drugi kraj na świecie (po Stanach Zjednoczonych) uznawała prawo narodu polskiego do niepodległości i zjednoczenia[5][6]
7 października – ogłoszenie niepodległości Polski przez Radę Regencyjną[7]

I wonder why Poland itself did not declare its independence on 29.08.1918, when the Russians themselves recognized Poland's independence? Why did they wait more than a month?

Let me note that in 1920, 1956, 1970, 1981 and 1989 the Russian Empire definitely no longer existed.

The tragedy of Poland is that it has been used by powerful states for their own interests continuously for almost three hundred years.

By assuming that I am from Estonia you only confirm how deep the hatred is between the peoples of Eastern Europe. Sad(.
