I just thought because of my age your pushed back for the younger generation? No offence intended . Just seems you get to a certain milestone & your written off. I know I'm adhd , but why do we need a piece of paper confirming what we already know about ourselves

I've always said , its not me its the others with the problem, being different isn't a bad thing especially seeing things from another angle it's pretty amazing to how you can work people out just by watching what they do & how they act & that's the ones who make fun of people that are , not like what they are like , no such thing as perfect , look at the labor party .....

Getting back on track , I think I've got a choice of three places to have this assessment done but it's been so long waiting I've forgotten where they are .
JusJust hope it's not far from me as I do tend to kick off in situations I can't cope with .

Because for me it's important to know somethings I couldn't help that it is neurological and as it's been undiagnosed I have many mental health issues with trying to cope and I'm definitely autistic and angry some people have managed and had good families support and have flourished I was left with alot of trauma it's not a piece of paper it is the missing link

And bring age into it if I had that thinking my response would be as I'm older shouldn't I be entitled more as I have suffered longer but I don't we all may have adhd and we all deal with it differently

When I got my autism diagnosis several yrs ago it did answer a lot of questions that used to go round inside my head . Plus knowing how to deal with situations can help , not always as the nerves go 🙄

I should be getting my assessment in a couple of months with Skylight Psychiatry in Woodford.
It was all fairly painless, I filled out a questionnaire, took it to my Doctor with their letter and after a phone call I have found out the wait, using right to choose, is only about 6-8 weeks.
I already have a diagnosis of sorts as I spent some time in prison on remand in the Psychiatric wing and they diagnosed me there.
It makes so much more sense to me now, my niece is on the spectrum and I'm convinced I am too but I mask really well and no one has suggested it since I was in my mid twenties (a friend). I'm now 52, nearly 53.

By the way, can anybody give me am indication of what to expect at an adult assessment please?
