Exactly. I don't watch TV so listen to the radio, and the likes of LBC have been pushing for months now the concept of benefit scroungers on PIP. Today they were playing some wide boy on social media saying how to get a car on PIP. Rather than attacking the recipients, that guy should be dealt with. I really don't like some of the rumours, but if they cut for people in situations like yourself then that's outright bad, although they suggesting they protecting the most vulnerable.

If this helps, this was on The BBC. But we should find out soon anyway.

"On Monday, Kendall insisted her planned changes would be fair, and ministers have said they will protect the most vulnerable.

In practice, this is likely to mean that those clearly unable to work will not face further reassessments of their condition, and will keep the entirety of their payments."

I'm no saint, and will breathe a sigh of relief if left alone. That said, I will still care about the fate of others.

Said it a million times but it isn't as simple as just choosing to go back to work. Private sector employers simply don't want disabled employees. All the major employers of disabled people - DWP, Tax Credits, DVLA, Inland Revenue etc; they are shedding jobs by the thousands. That ship has sailed.

Hi @Autistic_Superpower I hope you don't mind me saying but do you know that The ME Association deals/advises with Long Covid now? They are very good and have a helpline too. I joined, think it was c 12.00 a year but you can still get help without joining (I have LC plus COPD too plus c 20 other health problems 😉 🙄).

Also Asthma and Lung UK have a helpline (used to be the British Lung Foundation) they've helped me before via their helpline whuch is staffed by Respiratory Nurses.

Finally, there are currently Anti-Viral trial being undertaken at the University of Derby for LC. They've put me on their database to potentially be included for their trial in 2026. If you want their details/email address please let me know and I'll post it.

I hope you have a good day and take care, all the best to you.

It was in the paper, one man came from abroad has 3 wives and all on benefits, and have 2 flats. What I want to know are we all going to be treated equally of these cuts.

Just read on the Sunday times that they’re increasing reassessments in hope that they can kick people off of their benefits. Every assessment I’ve had has resulted in PTSD and losing months of my life due to the trauma of it. I’ve been left alone for 5 years and now I’m scared to death about having another one especially a face to face as I can’t cope with them. This government are evil 5 years ago Starmer said he wanted to scrap ATOS assessments now he wants to do more of them despite the effect it has on people.

Same here, I eat every other day so I can keep/feed my dogs I'm not complaining at that as it's my choice but I'm hoping I've not got to skip more days as that affects mood too. Had to cancel my Wiltshire farm foods delivery due to £s so no complete meals now 🙄

and It'd be check out for me if I became homeless as i need bathroom constantly and there aren't any of them on the streets notwithstanding I can't walk/hobble far (long covid and copd).

Considering everything I'm quite upbeat can't imagine why. I might not be after 1230 and tomorrow my non eating day is my birthday so I am going to eat 😁

It's disgusting what there doing, slashing out millions everyday for people. Where is our human rights in all of this, they should lower pension age to 60 in my case..I'm 58 so I would get it next year (december) but people who would of been retired are claiming disabilities

I’ve been suffering with my mental health since I was 14 I’m 26 now it’s got no better I’m diagnosed with anxiety depression and EUPD traits and I’m waiting for an autism and ADHD assessment so it’s likely that and I’ll never be ‘normal’ but I’m scared of being reassessed because I’ve had no recent input from doctors since my refferal got sent in august 23 due to literally having every therapy on the nhs and it not working. They’re all evil and it’s stupid because there’s a huge backlog anyway so can only hope it’ll be a year or more before they get round to reassessing me. Such a worry and stress for people already suffering 😞

I have bipolar disorder and with it being a lifelong condition that won’t change I’m worried that this new reform will target people like me - cause we all know those with mental health problems get treated poorly - and that I’ll lose my benefits and go through so much stress with all of this :(

This is just baffling.. They started this government saying they were going to scrap over assessments as the Tories had proven it affected disabled peoples health.

Now they’ve done a complete U-turn and are advocating massive reassessment. It’s shocking.

I was reading this thread all day yesterday before joining this morning. We're all in this together, and I fear the worst too. I'm high on the autistic spectrum and the gov have been talking very harshly about people like me. I'm sick with worry. But hey, we can only do whats within our power and capabilities.

Fingers crossed the news later will be less horrific than it sounds.
