Not received they seem to have changed the wording on the qualifying procedure ive been unemployed since oct now have PTSD got new style JS same ammount of moneyvas UC big mistake was advised to go on UC  got 0 award only rent paid.

And debt payment to tax credits so never received any COLP not one of them got the txt to say they were being paid but again nothing..

So i do not understand why I didnt get any when on less money than people on UC it all mad the decisions and who makes these .

The eligibility criteria is exactly the same as last year, the wording hasn't changed. The only difference being the qualifying dates are naturally different.

The first cost of living payment of £301 for this year for those claiming DWP means tested benefits can be paid anytime from now up until 17th May.

In a previous thread you said you're claiming UC with LCWRA, see thread. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/104914/please-help#latest

The qualifying period to be entitled to the cost of living payment this time for those claiming UC is you must have been entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 January 2023 to 25 February 2023.

If your UC has been reduced to zero because they are paying your landlord directly for the rent then this doesn't mean you're not entitled to the payment. You'll still be entitled to the payment but you'll need to wait to receive it. There's many people who haven't received it yet, you're not the only person. There's another 3 weeks left for you to receive it.

    @poppy123456

Yes only now i recieve the UC benefits my 1st assessment period was 4th of feb till 3rd mardh that i got any money from UC so im guessing no COLP but gt txt if i would have been advised properly from DWP i would have claimed UC from oct 2022 as i missed out on all COLP maddness..Never got any of the COLP even though UC were paying rent direct and taking off debt of 50 to tax credits which i only recently got reduced after many calls to 10 pound a month

Im at a loss as its a minefield in DWP not the same answer twice

When did you actually first claim UC? This thread is for this years cost of living payment, not last years.

Rent being paid straight to your landlord still means you were entitled to a payment of UC. This means you’re entitled to the £301. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/cost-of-living-payment#low-income-benefits-and-tax-credits-cost-of-living-payment

When you will not be eligible: ‘Nil awards’

You will not be eligible for the Cost of Living Payment if your benefit is reduced to £0 for the qualifying period. This is sometimes called a ‘nil award’.

Reasons your benefit may be reduced to £0 include:

    • you got more than one payment of earnings in your Universal Credit assessment period
    • your or your partner’s earnings went up
    • your or your partner’s savings went up
    • you started getting another benefit
    • you got a ‘sanction’ because you did not do something you agreed in your claimant commitment

You may still be eligible for a Cost of Living Payment if your benefit is reduced to £0 and one of the following applies:

    • money was taken off your benefit for other reasons, such as payments of rent to your landlord or for money that you owe

As you didn't claim UC until October then i wouldn't have expected you to be entitled to the November payment.
You were eligible for the second Cost of Living Payment of £324 if you were entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 August 2022 to 25 September 2022.

I am still waiting for mine as well Betty, and what’s strange is the last two cost of living payments went in my account on the first day of issues… so I was expecting same thing to happen , but as I said I am still waiting 🙄 I get paid on second of every month so I am guessing the  £301 payment maybe included on my normal benefits…. So not for another 5 day wait…. I wonder why they can’t just pay everyone within a week??? And why can’t they just tell us the exact sorting system that is utilised for issuing payouts…. Is it done by names, NI numbers, locations ???  Lord knows… but they never can answer that question… I so badly need the payment as well, I literally have one day of electric left and my washing machine has broke … I think it will Sod’s law for me either I get it next week or at the very end like the 16th may…. However I did read that the DWP has been quoted to say that “majority of people will have been paid by end of next week”  …anyhow all I know is it can’t come soon enough !! and this three  week gap is quite a long time to wait … anyway hoping u get yours soon , I am the sorta girl that will pick THE ONLY snickers bar without any nuts in it, if I didn’t have  bad luck I would have no luck at all😆

That will not happen. It will be paid as a separate payment. If it goes into your bank on the same day as your usual UC payment then it's just a coincidence.

They won't give exact dates for anyone because it's not possible to do this simply because of the amount of payments they need to make.

Last years cost of living payments will have no bearing on this years so when you received it last time isn't relevant. There's some this time that didn't receive it till later in the timescale last year but they received it already for this payment.

If you run out of electric then speak to your energy supplier or there's some food banks that give vouchers for energy, unless you have family or a friend that you can borrow some money from.

You made me laugh with that Snickers bar, bless you!!!Yeah, we are all on the same boat, checking bank account every morning...I agree with Popy though, it has nothing to do with UC payments. But, on the positive note, WE WILL GET IT:-)I know it is hard, I am not even starting to describe you my financial situation. Gosh, washing machine broken, I am so sorry!!I really hope you will get it soon, please let me know as soon as you get it, that will make me smile:-) Have a good day:-)

Your not alone alaska, could be a couple of weeks if you back of the queue.

I was expecting mine early as the ones from last year I got within the first two days, but nothing in my bank yet.

Glad to hear. What time didn't you receive it? Was it paid via BACS during the early morning or just recently as you said in your previous post you hadnt received it.
