Indeed it does. As a lad we didn't have a Tv until I was in my teens, just the radio and books. Even now, I won't flick through the TV channels & watch 'the best of a bad job.' I switch it off and read. Luckily my local Library is close by & I always have 3 or 4 books

Yes, it is a very good one. pcs free to use, free wifi, and you can order books online as well as sending stuff to be printed & pick up the next day.

I love hearing that @MickH My local library is mainly stocked for kids. Which I am glad for. It's lovely seeing so many children read!

Last night I got hooked on my book and finished it in one evening. I read The Last Witch of Scotland by Philip Paris. I always think of Salem when I think of witch trials. Was a great read and really interesting to learn about within a fictional storyline.

Ooo @C_J I still need to start that series! You'll have to let us know what you think!

I've heard it's his last Thursday Murder Club book for a while as he has a new series next year.

I studied Arthur Miller's The Crucible for O level English Lit all those years ago ! Based around the Salem witch trials, but loosely having a dig at McCarthy and his 'Reds under the Beds' hunt on suspected Communists in the US

I've just started Untypical by Pete Wharmby.

It's a very interesting look into how the world isn't built for neuro divergent people and how people can make things better for us neuro spicy people.  So far it's a great read!

(Certainly makes a change from all the Warhammer 40k books I've been devouring recently!)

Haha @Albus_Scope How many Warhammer books are there still to go?

Untypical does sound like a great read! *Added to the list*

I did just get another book delivery... I picked up In These Hallowed Halls which is a compilation of dark academia short stories. One for October!

@Hannah_Scope well I've now read all 52 Horus Heresy books. So now I just have The Beast series, Gaunts Ghosts and Dawn of fire to catch up on.  So I think maybe another 20 books?   :D

I've just posted about My Top 10 Halloween films I’ve been loving on streaming services and thought, well I couldn't leave out The Book Nook!

Here are some of my favourite spooky reads. Like with the movies thread, this has horror and some murder mystery's. I hope you share yours too!
    1. It by Stephen King.
    2. Dracula by Bram Stoker.
    3. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.
    4. The Cloisters by Katy Hays.
    5. Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie.
    6. The Girls Who Disappeared by Claire Douglas.
    7. The Shining by Stephen King.
    8. The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie.
    9. The Woman in Black by Susan Hill.
    10. Interview With A Vampire by Anne Rice.
I feel most of mine are from the "classics" section of the bookstore. If you have any recommendations for newer releases. I'd love to hear them!

Not yet normally the lounge.  I saw a picture on PINTREST the other day and decided when I win the lottery this is somewhere that I want to sit and read maybe with a nice country view rather than New York.   We all have our dreams.

@AndyGT That is an amazing library. I too go through images on Pinterest and save them in case of a lottery win.

@C_J Ooo will take a look at that! :)

Another book that is worth reading is "The Ragged-Trousered Philanthropist" by Robert TRESSELL..... The way the author describes what is happening             is just writing at its best...
