The Reluctant Detective series by Adrian Spalding ... dry humour, easy storylines and whilst not Caimh McDonnell LOL to wobble the bed ... a good read

After such popularity from Stuff Your Kindle Day, other genres have joined the chaos.

For today, 6th October 2023, there is a selection of over 100 free fantasy books. I believe this is with Amazon Kindle only as I couldn't find a lot on the iPad books app.

There are more genre days coming and when I have more information, I'll let you know :)

I don't have a Kindle.  I like the feel of a real book between my hands.  I get all the benefits of a Kindle and I understand why some people prefer them.... For me though it has to be a book.

At the moment I am reading "Sicily 44" by James HOLLAND.  Historical research at its best.  It is about the Allied Invasion of Sicily in 1944 (the title says it all). I'll be honest it is a battle my Dad fought in, hence the interest.

I am now about 9 chapters into Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Torzs. It's definitely a slow burner and I am just getting to the good bit. But I'm unsure how I feel about it at the moment.

Does anyone else ever feel the same when reading?

I've been there reading a book and you think to yourself where's this going or when's the good part going to start and then the book comes to life.

But that said I've read books that I've just wanted to give up on but I never do as I want to know how it ends.

Or have you read a good book got to the end only to find the ending is not good at all and you think REALLY lol

By the way I also brought a new book today Make it so by Patrick Stewart. I could resist

Hi guys! An absolute infatuated book worm here! 6 books may have fallen into my bag at the charity shop the other day. Plus another 3 when I went to collect my library reservation.

@wilshyboy I ❤️❤️😆DI Kim Stone! I have all of them on my kindle but would love the physical ones too!

Stuff your kindle day is coming up soon, loads of free books!

I've currently got 96 on my digital TBR pile and more than I can count on my physical one.

I'm currently reading Lockwood & Co by Jonathan Stroud.  The Screaming skull. 😱

I love YA, crime fiction, books about witches/shifters.
One of my favourite authors is Chandelle LaVaun.

I'm currently sat in my cuddle chair in my Oodie  with my book and a brew.

    Morning everyone.

Ps I'm not allowed in The Works unsupervised!

You're in very good company here then @Dot2710ken!

Though I think @Hannah_Scope is banned from most book stores now, so has to order them online using an alias.  :D

@C_J Ooo love Patrick Stewart I may have to add that to my ever growing list! I get so annoyed when I am loving the book and then the ending doesn't live up and there is no sequel! I got another 100 pages in last night and it's picked up nicely. Hoping to finish it this evening if not tomorrow evening. As it's been such a slow burner, I really cannot guess the ending!

@Dot2710ken Welcome fellow bookworm! Ooo which books did you pick up? We have a post on Stuff Your Kindle Day, if you have anymore information please let us know. I've been trying to keep on top of it, but I've seen a few date changes! This year, there was also a Stuff Your Earbuds Day, which I hope they do again soon. Love having an audiobook on as I work or clean the house.

I have seen the Lockwood and Co books are now a Netflix series? or are they films? They are on my huge list I mentioned above. You'll have to let us know what you think! I love crime books and I just read The Last Witch of Scotland by Philip Paris, which is a historical fiction. Very good! Highly recommend it :)

@Albus_Scope How did you know?! 😆 I have just had an order from The Works today... have Waterstones coming tomorrow with my preorder of The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon. Excited for that one!

Just finished Richard Osman The Last Devil to Die I really enjoyed the book unfortunately it's the last of the Thursday Murder Club books for a little while as Richard Osman is working on another project but they will be back.

And for anyone that likes their horror books The Midnight Tour by Richard Laymon is a great read I found the book by accident and just couldn't put it down.

I had heard he was starting a new project. It'll give me the chance to catch up on the Thursday Murder Club books. Another for the list! Thank you.

I finished Ink Blood Sister Scribe, really good. I gave it 4 stars. Just a very interesting premise and they ended it in a way that a sequel could fit nicely but it's also great as a standalone :)

@Hannah_Scope glad you finished the book and enjoyed it. I think you will enjoy the Thursday Murder Club books.

I have a list of books to read thats rather long but then I will buy a book and it kind of gets bumped to the front of the list lol.

I've bought my day the latest one so I think when he's read it, possible in the new year? I'll sit and read them all through one after the other :)

I just keep buying books :D I do need to slow down. I think because I was so poorly for so long and unable to have the energy, I am also catching up!

Did you see the Fourth Wing news? There is a new exclusive edition of the book at Waterstones with 2 new chapters from Xaden's POV. It's taken everything in me not to buy it. Mainly because I don't like having one book normal and one special edition, then the third normal...etc. So will be waiting for that release and hopefully, the chapters will be available to purchase online 🤞
