I'd love glitter! My mum not so much... She's not even a fan of me getting coloured crutches 😂😂😂 she's quite plain when it comes to colours

Charlie is definitely her best friend 🥰 haha they are little monkeys! Lottie is becoming so fussy with her food - for reference she gets fresh meals every single day (unfortunately a few years ago she managed to eat some magic mushrooms that sprang up in the garden and it's wrecked her digestive system, so she's the same as me and can't tolerate gluten)

That's so cool that he's put them on his amazon wishlist! I hope he enjoys them!

500?! Wow, you could literally open your own library! I always love the thought of having so many books, but I tend to keep my living spaces quite minimalistic as I've moved a fair few times and it's a pain in the bum having to sort everything!

I'm pretty much on the last leg of 'The Visa' so 'Falling Hard for the Royal Guard' might have to be my next purchase. Though I also have 'The No Show' to read. The atmosphere was great at the parade, though there weren't that many floats, maybe 6 or 7, where as when I went as a kiddo in the 90s and early 00s there were upwards of about 70. My guess would be that it's down to funding and it affects the local traffic, so maybe they've had to scale it down.

    Do you read fast?

Really sorry to hear that 😔 here if you ever need any support 💖 sounds like we might be a similarish age? I'm 32 - I love scope for the fact that there's so many people that are in a similar position - I have a couple of friends who have conditions, but don't really get to see them often as they're still able to work - I actually used to work with them in the nursery I was at

Are you on good reads? That's a great number to read!

    @stormy

How are you getting on with your kindle? I had a fire kindle, but never really used it for reading, was more for playing games :)

    Has anyone written a book?

I've had a couple of ideas that I've started, but I've lost the impetuous. I feel like I struggle with creative writing, knowing how to make it interesting and how to make it flow.

From an academic perspective I have no problem 😂😂😂 put it this way, both my sister and I were doing our Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification at the same time - my sister's answers would be a couple of paragraphs or so long and mine would be pages and pages. When I was studying dance, a couple of my assignments were definitely around 26 pages long 😂😂😂

I am still making my way through Steven Erikson's The Malazan Series. It's an incredibly complex, heavy fantasy novel series. Dives into philosophy of it's characters quite a bit but the range and depth of its wide cast just continue to bring me joy. As well as sadness, the story arcs often have a tragic, bittersweet ending.

    Hi @CountryMimi

I started to write on canvas :
    1) book with my Polish poems
    2) book with English poems
    3) story  about my health problems

Perhaps,  when my creative vibes back to me one day I could publish all ?

@iza That is strange! I believe I've seen The Hidden Life of Trees has been made into a movie too? We have many members share their poems in Coffee Lounge if you ever want to share too 😊

@C_J I always prefer the book to, less distractions! But the ability to carry a library with me is so tempting 😂 How many books are on your want to read list? and are any on your physical tbr at the moment? I have picked up Stephen King's Fairytale and excited to pick up Holly later in the year. Both are supposed to be fantastic, can't wait to get into them.

@countrymimi You have to glitter them then! It's the rule 😂

Oh no, bless her 😔 do you think she is maybe becoming fussy because of the heat? my pup gets like that most years and eats very early in the morning and very late in the evening. With little treats and carrots throughout the day.

Yeah, it's dead handy as he's difficult to buy for! I wish I had a library! I think over 1000 books is considered a library so I'm almost there! It's becoming more insulation at this point 😂 I am not looking forward to moving the next time, will need to bribe some friends with pizza, haha!

They may have scaled it down because of health and safety too? 70 floats sounds like a lot! Glad you had such a lovely time 😊 were there many craft stalls or food stalls?

You still enjoying The Visa? I do read really fast, about 100+ pages a day when I've had a good day. But it can take me a while to pick another book up if I have other things going on.

Thank you so much <3 I'm 31! That's a shame, I hope you are able to see them soon, maybe meet for a lunch or break open a bottle of wine for a big catch up 😊

I am but I am not 😂 Trying to update Goodreads annoys me sometimes. I have an app on my phone called Bookmory which is the same, but I find easier to use.

I'm always writing little bits and pieces and writing ideas down. Just never seem to have the time and when I do I don't have the energy 😂 I feel the same, struggle with the creative side of writing. I have been researching my family history and I am putting all that into a book. But it's more factual so I find it easier. Wow! 26 pages! 😂 who marked that?

@rustledjimm Sounds really interesting, is it a completely made up fantasy world or is it influenced from a time period?

@wilshyboy With merging the 3 into 1, are you keeping it open to turn into a series?

    @Hannah_Scope

It's settled then. Glitter it is 😆

She's been like this for ages and ages now, we call her Lottie Two Teas 😆 awww poor pup! I do feel sorry as they can't tell us. I'd love to get Lottie a paddling pool, but mum says no 😂

I completely get that, I find it difficult with my mum, she normally just tells me what she wants 😅 though we did good for her birthday this year, we got her tickets to see Michael McIntyre later on in the year! Yeah, if my memory serves me right, I have heard about 1000 books being a library before. I wonder why 1000 🤔 i bet it would insulate as well 😂😂😂 the new way around the cost of living!

It could be, there was more security, but like my mum said, back in the day they wouldn't have had event management and they literally just up and went 😂 how times have changed! We didn't go to the actual gala, but there were a ton of stalls and rides being set up on Friday in the park where it's held! I always remember, my Dad was a fireman and with you being a similar age to me, you might have heard of 'Welephant' the fire service mascot? They had a costume at my dad's fire station and he would take me in the van and dress up there! I've got some pictures of other events where he dressed up somewhere, I'll have to try and dig them out!

Yeah, I'm really enjoying 'The Visa' - was quite surprised to see it hasn't got better reviews on goodreads, but suppose everyone's preferences are different. That's amazing that you're able to read so much! I completely hear you on that, I definitely go through phases of not reading for ages!

Oooo I haven't heard of Bookmory before, I'll have to have a look though. I feel like goodreads is a bit outdated in its style

That's so cool that you're writing about your family history! I bet you've found some fascinating stuff out! I dread to think who marked my work, bet they didn't even mark half of it 😂

    @Hannah_Scope

I also would like to read Stephen kings Fairytale I will pick a copy up when I get the chance I've always been a fan of his work. I've got about 30 books to read on my kindle at the moment and my want to read list on Goodreads is at 81 books but whenever I read a good review my list gets longer 🤯 (I may need to find a map to the fountain of youth lol)

That's what makes the kindle so very handy as you can take so many books with you in one small device and the thing I like is you don't need a light if you want to read at night as the screen lights up to whatever setting is comfortable to you. But my bookcase is also growing at a fast rate however I will read a book more than once. I have a book by William Woodruff The Road to Nab End I've lost count how many times I've read that it's such a good book I guess every reader has a book like that.

I'd not thought of turning into a series as its taken me 6 years to get nearly a quarter of one done, They all are roughly along the same lines, but instead of it just being mainly in the Cotswolds, it will now be countrywide with a bit of Europe thrown in, if i keep going at the same speed I;ll be in my 80s, when its finished, assuming as Sarah Kennedy used put it at the end of each show, I'll see you tomorrow if we're spared, hopefully i will be.

Hi @CountryMimi, I have one more book inside me “ Diary of ASB victim living in English Estate”.
I have other friends ( from my country who live in the same borough having exactly the same experience).
Maybe I should start to write that one too and ask my friends to contribute they chapters too ?

@CountryMimi Woohoo! What colour glitter are you thinking?

We've just bought a kids paddling pool for Gwen. But it's more to use as a bath for her 😂 Oh bless her, It is a shame they can't tell us.

My mum does too, well, she gives a list of a few things and we pick. So it's still technically a surprise for her. That sounds like so much fun! I hope she has a great time 😊

Funnily enough, a few people with lots of books have said their bills haven't gone up so much 😂 So I'm beating the system! haha.

Oh that sounds like so much fun. I love all the market stalls with the knickknacks, although I usually find the secondhand book one quite quick. Aww such lovely memories for you 😊 I don't remember Welephant but we lived in a smaller town as a kid. I think we only had one fire engine?

I feel like reviewing on Goodreads has become a little more pretentious. You can't just put I really enjoyed the book. It has to be an essay of a review. Bookmory is more of a tracker which I like. I keep forgetting authors names so it's easier to look up.

Haha, I wonder if it was a team effort and a few people marked it 😂 I love ancestral research, I found out last week when Who Do You Think You Are? was on, that Andrew Lloyd Webber is my distant cousin! My mind exploded when I saw that one line of his family was the same as mine. We just branch down one of the siblings!

@C_J Hahaha, it's dangerous reading others reviews! Are any of the 81 part of the 30 that are on your kindle?

I fell into the YouTube rabbit hole of book hauls and ended up spending £50 😂. I think I'll probably end up with a kindle, especially as I want to travel a little more. I reread a few books every year. I always read A Christmas Carol in December and I always read Pride and Prejudice as I go into the new year.

@Wilshyboy They sound really interesting! I think you should definitely explore all the places you write about, have to be accurate right? 🤪

@iza A collaborative book sounds like it would be fun too!

You're right there Hannah research is key, luckily for me i had an Aunt and Uncle who lived in a village which was about 3 miles from the perimeter wall of Blenheim Palace so i am quite familiar with the Cotswolds and surrounding area although when i went through there about 5 years ago it thankfully hadn't changed too much and a lot of the little villages still remain the same, My favourite place is Bourton-on the- Water, it has a shallow river running right through the middle with several old stone pedestrian bridges over it, If ever anybody reading this gets the chance spend a few hours there, and wander round all the old shops there is also a miniature stone village there but due to the size of the walkways they are not big enough for a wheelchair, Also they have a British car museum which is spread over 7 or 8 large sheds and is well worth a visit, And no day there is complete unless afterwards you have Tea and Cake in one of the Teashops, I first went there over 50 years ago, and not much has changed in the original part of it.

Definitely the tea and cake! :) Ooo sounds so exciting :) I can imagine they are getting a lot of tourists with the nice weather. Which makes me happy, love supporting independent booksellers. Added them to my list for the next time I need to order.

If you ever go to the Cotswolds, there loads of lovely hotels to choose from me and my brother stayed in Chipping Norton as a base, Woodstock is a lovely old market town with Blenheim palace on the doorstep, As a kid i spent many an afternoon sunbathing by the lake at Blenheim palace, when you travel in the Cotswolds you'll see what a green and pleasant land England really is. If you get to History Bookshop see if they have got any of the Jackson Brodie books starting with Case Histories by the wonderful writer Kate Atkinson, some of the best fiction you will get to read anywhere.
