@C_J I bought them for my dad for Christmas but haven't got round to them yet. I can see Richard Osman being a good writer. I may get to them now the newest one is due to be released!
If you have a kindle, the Dedley end mysteries are £1.99 on amazon, with the first one being 99p if you want to try1 -
Thanks @Hannah_Scope I just brought the first one on my Kindle really appreciate that.1
-
Hope you like it as much as I did @C_J0

Hi @C_J and @Hannah_Scope. Thank you so much for your recommendations! My local library has both books it in stock so I will pick them up tomorrow. I cannot wait for Richards new book too!

@sunshine23 You'll have to let us know what you think!
I have Richards new one preordered as I buy them for my dad. I have quite a few books on preorder actually 😂2 -
I just finished The Only One Left by Riley Sager. Had never read anything by him before and I loved his writing style. He is an author known for his story twists and this one had so many.
The Only One Left is set in 1983 and follows Kit who is a caregiver as she starts a new assignment at Hope's End. She will be caring for Lenora Hope, who the town believed killed her family back in 1929, although she was never convicted. Never having spoken to anyone before about the murders, one night Lenora makes an offer to Kit - "I want to tell you everything"...
I honestly cannot rate the book enough. It's got me into the autumnal feels! I guess its now time to start another! 😂0 -
@Hannah_Scope another book you mentioned has caught my interest Fourth Wing it sounds like a good book.0
-
@C_J I made @Alex_Scope buy it 😂 I really loved it, it's definitely a 5* read for me this year! The second is being released in November and I cannot wait!

I was a little bored today so went into town for Something to do and I see this book I'm sure someone recommend the book @Hannah_Scope so I thought why not. I like the dust jacket as well. 😀1
-
Eeee! @C_J Have you started it yet? If so what are your thoughts so far? The second book in the series is out in November and is apparently double the thickness! 😮
I did a little book shopping over the last few weeks... OK so a lot of book shopping. 20 new books to go on the TBR 😂 I picked up a few Christmas books in The Works 3 for £6 whilst they were in stock! I also came across Kensington Publishing who are an American publishing company. They have these really adorable cosy mystery books by a variety of authors. I managed to find a few at Waterstones that have been published by Harper Collins here in the UK. Excited to get into them!
I just finished reading The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer. It is a hard book to get a physical copy of, as American Publishers still have the rights (I believe). You can get it as an E-Book. It is one of my 5* reads for this year!
The Wishing Game is like Willy Wonka but instead of a chocolate factory, there is one book up for grabs by bestselling children's author Jack Masterson. Lucy, our protagonist, is competing to win that book as it would not only change her life, but someone very special to her.
This book made me cry it was that good. I loved it and highly recommend it!0 -
Hi @Hannah_Scope I started the book last night I'm currently on chapter 4 if the beging of the book is something to go by then Violet has a tough time ahead of her (no spoilers please lol) so far I'm impressed not the sort of book I would have picked up so thank you for the recommendation.0
-
No problem! It's definitely become a huge favourite in the book community and one of the top ten on Goodreads this year! Hopefully you'll like it and no spoilers but you'll have to message when you have finished as I have so many theories with the second book coming out! haha1
-
I have just realised, I have bought 10 x the number of books I've read this month 😂1
-
With my first payslip I bought the next Terry Pratchett book I've to read and Dune. I'm not a super fast reader so they should do me for a month or so.1
-
@Jimm_Scope I've never read a Terry Pratchett book but often wondered about them I'm glad you said that you are not a fast reader I'm not either but I've know people to finish a book in a day or so yet me a few weeks sometimes a little longer.0
-
My favourite go to authors at the moment are Lesley Pearce and Sophie Kinsella. Have loads of books on my bookcase to get through plus all the books on kindle unlimited. Always have to have one on the go x

@C_J I will be honest, my "next Pratchett book to read" is the second one in the read order I loved his first book though, he has a really creative style in describing the world and scenes. Also the world itself is just so... unique, creative. It's quite an enjoyable read too as it's full of humour.0
-
Thanks @Jimm_Scope I will keep an eye open for one of his books. I think I recall there was a game on the first PlayStation called disc world I believe and I fully enjoyed the game.0
-
@C_J The first suggested book is The Colour of Magic, which is the only one I've read so far, I picked up The Light Fantastic the other day.
There's a little reading order guide here Reading Order - Discworld Emporium. Though, that page could certainly use a more accessible font.0
