Hello All,

I have just joined and have some questions.

I posted my UC50 form on the 12th June 2023 when do you think i should get any response? Also does everyone that sends off a UC50 have to have an Assessment.

Thank you

Louise

You could be waiting quite a few months to hear anything. Most people have assessments which are mostly by telephone, some are either face to face or video call. Paper based assessments are possible but rare.

    Good afternoon

Is it a good or bad thing that they have requested information from your GP.

    Kind regards

Can I ask, how do you know they have requested information? Do they inform you?

I contacted Customer relations chda dwp and asked if they had my application and if it had been looked at and they replied its been reviewed and they asked GP for further information and they also said i am just waiting for an appointment.

It doesn’t mean anything other than they sent your GP the UC113 form.

    Good afternoon,

I have been finally been given an assessment date and time!!

I am so scared, i really don’t like speaking on the phone and its already causing me stress and anxiety!!

It says phone call could last 20 minutes to an hour!! I can just about manage 5 minutes with family.

I am not sure how i am going to do this??

I don’t know what they are going to ask and i don’t know how i am going to respond as i can get a bit aggressive and i really don’t like talking to strangers about my private life!!

    I just want to scream!!

Can I ask, just out of interest before you sent off your UC50 were you already getting LCW or LCWRA or none of those? Thanks

    Hello @cheekylittlekoala

I'm glad you finally have an appointment, that part of the wait is over! You can have someone with you if that with help you feel more comfortable?

It can last anything from 10 to 120 minutes unfortunately. If you can have someone with you, you can put the phone knot loud speaker.

If you prefer face to face than telephone you can ask for this. You’ll need to contact the health assessment advisory service to ask them.

They will want to know about your health conditions and how they affect you. I can’t tell you exactly what they will ask because it’s different for everyone.

Make sure you do not answer the questions with just a yes or no and try to go into as much detail as possible. If you have someone with you then you can put your phone onto loud speaker. Good luck and hopefully you won't be waiting too long for a decision.

Still waiting for their call and now my anxiety levels are maxed out, i have stomachache and have a massive headache and heart palpitations. By the time i speak to someone i am going to be a massive emotional reck...

Edit: Just been called to say that practitioner is running behind and someone will call me by 2pm and i just totally broke down and told her that the waiting is causing me major anxiety and the waiting is making me unwell so she said she will try and get some too call me by 1pm... I am a total mess now!!

They do sometimes run over with previous assessments so yes they often ring after the time frame they give. One good thing is at least it's not a face to face assessment and you don't have to wait in a waiting room.

At least if i was face to face they could see me break down and be a total mess... That wasn't an option for me as i can't leave the house on my own and its difficult to get someone to come with me as they all work and would have to take the day as unpaid.

I totally understand the stress it causes because i've had experience of both face to face and telphone assessments. I just found it better being stressed in my own home than in an assessment centre. Hopefully they will ring you soon.

Just had another phone call to ask if i would speak to a male assessor and i said no as i did state this in my form female assessor and now they are telling they don't have any female assessors so they will have to phone another centre to see if one is available... I don't understand how there can not be any female assessors... Did they not read my form? I am really confused... I might not even get my appointment today... I am really not happy now with the whole situation.

That's frustrating. Was the assessor that was originally going to ring you a female? It's good they are keeping you informed because they don't always do that but i know that doesn't help your anxiety.

I don't know i wasn't told when the lady phoned me with a Courtesy call to remind me of my appointment today and the second time saying the Assessor was behind. It wasn't mentioned so i am guessing that they hadn't read my form. Because when another lady called she asked if i would speak to a male Assessor. It's all a bit of a poo day and now my Daughter is worried about me, as she can tell i am maximum stressed.

Edit: Lady number four phoned to say they are looking for a female practitioner to speak to me today, i think they realised how stressed and full of anxiety i am.
