This will be the form but that's not the descriptors. For the descriptors this would be communicating verbally, which is Activity 7. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/Global/Migrated_Documents/adviceguide/pip-9-table-of-activities-descriptors-and-points.pdf

    I am really confused now.

The way the PIP2 form is laid out is slightly different to the actual descriptors. Q11 mixing with others on the PIP2 form is engaging with others face to face, which is descriptor 9. The questions for the daily living part in the form start at Q3 and finish at Q12, which is 10 activities. There's 10 daily living activities, starting at 1 and finishing at 10.

Mobility in the form are Q13 and Q14. The mobility activities are known as 1 and 2.

When writing a MR do i use words like "Could" or do i use "Would".

For example "I could cause harm" or would i use "I would cause harm".

    Thank you

@cheekylittlekoala where you can, and if it makes sense, always use an active voice rather than a passive one. "Would" is passive in the sense that "I would recommend...". Why not "I recommend..."?

In this context, perhaps you could say, "It is highly likely that I will cause harm" or "in this circumstance I am very concerned that I will cause harm".  "Will" is stronger in that way.

Do you see how it changes what you're saying to make it stronger but is still the truth and what you're trying to get across.  If in doubt, use "may" if you do need to take it down a notch.

I agree with Lottie here. I would refrain from using the word "could" because they can form their own opinion on this and could twist it to mean "this may not happen at all." If you can't do something regularly, reliably, then you're classed as not being able to do it at all.

Will i still be expected to do work related activities during the MR? What if i am unable to do them?

    Kind regards

Potentially yes, it will depend what your claimant commitments are.

I am totally confused... I just spoke to my Work Coach and i told her that i have put in a MR and then she said that our next appointment wouldn't be till December and i have no work related activities to do.

Could be using her discretion on the work related activities, when I was on LWC, I had to see them every 3 months which I believe is the maximum they can set

There's no stats for the UC WCA MRs. There's only stats for ESA MRs. However, the stats for UC WCA decisions are very similar to ESA and for this 53% of MR decisions are in the claimants favour. As they are similar i would say the MR decisions are similar too. You can see those here. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/esa-outcomes-of-work-capability-assessments-including-mandatory-reconsiderations-and-appeals-june-2023/esa-work-capability-assessments-mandatory-reconsiderations-and-appeals-june-2023#esa-wca-mandatory-reconsiderations-outcomes

A Case Manager occasionally will make a phone call to a claimant to clarify information before making a new decision, nothing to worry about.

Good luck with the Mandatory Reconsideration @cheekylittlekoala, I know it's a pretty stressful and the entire process from start to finish can be complex and confusing. If you need to ask more questions you know the community is always here :)

Someone from Belfast Service Centre is telling me to:

Please write a detailed request of why you would like an MR.

Are they trying to bully me as this person is also telling me to write my MR in my journal and to upload any more evidence via the link..

Ive already told someone from the service centre that i want a MR and i was going to Post it. Can they not see pervious messages.

I am getting very frustrated and cross now!!

I got my assesment back it doesn't tell me which descriptors i met or didn't meet or any points, there was also discrpences in what the "Nurse" wrote. also the assesment said Harmful information not to be shared. What would the harmful information mean?

They got information from my GP and listed old illnesses in my report and said they discussed it with me when they didn't and was totally irrelevent.

She also wrote on my report that i watch tv on my phone for hours!!

    Kind regards

    Hello @cheekylittlekoala

According to Citizen's Advice, when you challenge the decision:
To ask for a mandatory reconsideration you can:
    • write a message in your Universal Credit online account, if you have one
    • write a letter or call the DWP - check the contact details on your decision letter

It's usually better to use your Universal Credit account, fill in the form or write a letter. This means you can keep a record of why you disagree with the decision and prove you asked for it to be looked at again.

But when I searched for how to in Belfast I am afraid I hit a brick wall. I am unsure if it is the same procedure. I would suggest reaching out to Citizen's Advice for further clarification.
