How is your day going?

My Great Granddad worked in a mine in Yorkshire and it sounded like rough work
Apparently he released a mine cart as a joke which resulted in someone losing a hand, so they smashed a lantern on his head which caused him to be blind in one eye and deaf in one ear
He was later called for military service which he ignored because he thought his disabilities meant they wouldn't want him
He was arrested by military police and taken to the barracks about an hour's drive away, where they told him they didn't want him because he was blind in one eye and deaf in one ear
He had to make his own way home
Such different times 😳

I hope you have a lovely day @Lou67, when someone so close to you passes it can be difficult even after so many years. I think it's lovely you still visit on his birthday. Thank you for your wishes as well ❤️
@66Mustang I am quite the fan of cocktails too. I don't think I have a favourite but if I see a cocktail (or mocktail if I'm avoiding alcohol) menu I'll often pick the one I find most unusual or interesting. I love trying new flavours.
It's taken me some time to get used to the new comment box too @Sandy_123. I think it does require selecting the person you want to ping from what shows up when you type. For me it's most getting used to how the emojis now work 😅
And ah, I refreshed before posting and see Mustang's second post. Yes, things certainly were different back then! Can't imagine that happening now in the UK, better for it too. I've heard some horrible stories from older family members about the things that could happen.

@66Mustang
Aww my that’s such a shame what happened to your Great Grandad, oh yes he would’ve worked really hard. It’s amazing all the stories we hear about relatives from years ago how tough they had it.@Jimm_Scope
Thanks Jim yes I still get upset about my dad at times even though it was 23 years ago. I feel sad that my grandkids didn’t get to meet him as he was amazing with my kids.Hi Rubin I hope your keeping well, enjoy your day at your nan’s. I’m going to my mums then over to the graveyard.
@Marydoll5
Just a wee mention so you know your in my thoughts and I hope yous are doing well.❤️

Hi everyone
I hope you have the heat where you are but not the humidity. I'm suffering with tropical moments at my time of life and humidity makes it worse!
I'll not tag as I missed yesterday. I tried those migraine gel patches on my partner's neck and the helped with the head pain. It's a slow recovery and he's hurting more than he's letting on.
Have a lovely afternoon Scopicles 😊

Hi @Marydoll5 it's nice to see you, I hope your partner gets well soon and hope you are keeping good as well 😊

My internet is playing up today and was yesterday 🙁
I was feeling quite fortunate as it's worked well for over a month, it actually justified paying the bill last month

Ours plays up every day,it's rubbish.

Went good so far.My mom, sister and I went out for our girl time yesterday. We got out nails done and a little shopping. They were even glad I wore my lgbt pride proud shirt since it is lgbt pride month

I like pride month and how it represents inclusivity and stuff but I never really found my little niche within that community, I'm sure there is one somewhere but whenever I tried to join in it seemed I didn't fit
I'm consider myself a moderate and not overtly one thing or the other whether that's with gender or sexuality, it seemed people want you to "commit" to something in order to fit in if that makes sense??
I guess a group for people who just think gender and sexuality shouldn't matter would be quite short … "hello, yeah none of us are bothered about how people act or who you are attracted to, same time next week then?" 🤔

I've had to have a rather firm talk with my internet provider. Since we'd been with them 18 months, and we hadn't kept track of it, they charged us nearly 80 quid last month. And the "best" they can offer us is £50 a month when I know they give new customers deals between 30-40 quid. I hate the rigmarole they make you run through just because you aren't a new customer.
Glad to hear the migraine patches helped @Marydoll5 😃 I hope they feel better soon
@rubin16 Well, I just finished my lunch and I'll be here now till the evening. Alongside doing some other work if I have the time! I kind of just want to spend time on the community though cause it's what I miss the most when I'm off ill.
If you don't want a specific niche you don't have to find it @66Mustang 😊 Pride is mostly really just about being who you are than applying a label to yourself. I feel really similarly in many ways, if I specifically get asked why I am at a pride event, (I think it's only ever happened once, and it was someone doing anonymous research on reasons people go to a pride event) I usually just answer that I'm unsure about what "labels" I might have. People accept that answer, because nearly everyone at a pride event has either gone through that stage or is in that stage.
I do think the whole, labels part is played up quite a bit. I understand it, people want to celebrate who they are and I don't think that is wrong of them, but I dislike any expectation that others should also know exactly what group they are in. It's a very complex topic, I mean, we as people are very complex and it is a part of us.

I agree about labels, I think my whole problem is that I don't really fit in with any of the labels and nor do I particularly care or want to!!! I think that goes for a lot of things in life actually, not just gender and sexuality but other stuff, not even important stuff either like politics but even just the way we are when it comes to trivial parts of life 😊
I do still think I want to find my niche though - it's all well and good me going to a group aimed for people who identify as a certain way - and I am glad to support others there - but I don't really get any benefit myself if that makes sense?? I know that sounds selfish of me but ultimately we do need to look after our own needs and we go to these groups to get support ourselves as well as to help others
Sadly labels aren't in our control though, often we have labels given to us by others and then are treated in a certain way because of those labels which we didn't even choose in the first place. I got a bit poorly recently after that happened here on this website because I tried to explain that I don't like being treated differently because of labels that others decided to give me, but everyone jumped on me and I even got told off by people in charge which reaffirmed to me that I'm in the wrong

Good Afternoon One and All.....…
I hope you are all well today. I'm sorry that I haven't written lots and lots of tags but I thought this would cover all names and options…. Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying this bright sunny day. Movement is a problem today, so I am sitting here watching some bad TV and strangely enjoying it with a couple of cheese rolls.

Hi @Ada I think everyone here likes you and appreciates your comments, I do anyway! I look forward to reading your comments and I don't mind what time of day you post them even if I end up reading them later in the day ❤️
I'm off for a drive now, I hope everyone has a nice afternoon, hopefully see you later

Enjoy your drive @66Mustang! 🚗 (I do like that far more emojis are now easily available, sadly I think this is the closest emoji I can get to a mustang)
I hope you get that sun @Ada, vitamin D really is important for mental wellbeing. And besides just vitamin D I'm pretty sure it was proven that just being in the sun improves mental health above just giving vitamin D. It sounds like you've been really busy and got a lot of cleaning done, I think you deserve a lovely rest in the garden so I'll cross my fingers you get some sun.
I think your good morning posts are lovely, it really shows the bonds the community can foster between members. ❤️
@AndyGT Tagging is not mandatory do not worry! I'm glad you had a good day at Duxford. Unfortunate about the cancelled events due to that fatal crash. Spitfires weren't really built with too much safety in mind, and I imagine there will be an investigation into what happened to hopefully avoid it again. A day of rest sounds good, and what is better than some bad tv for just relaxing? 😋

The days of rest is needed. Especially as I am at the hospital twice this coming week. 1. Tomorrow (London) to talk about implant in lower back and whether it is still working or at least working well. Also to discuss further surgery.
2. Then towards end of week I am at local General Hospital for an ultrasound re stomach and Pancreatitis/Liver disease. So all in all I have had better weeks. Could be worse I guess.
