I'm guessing and it is a GUESS if they are not taking on the Torie changes then they have to change legislation again for whatever they are doing but it is a worrying question

Nightcity, the parties voted for changes to the WCA in 2015 (not newly elected MP Keir Starmer though) - check out Timms' contributions to the debates.

So what does that mean no debates it will just go ahead ?
0 -
And it's for all claimants?
0 -
well that's encouraging if Starmer didn't at least

Yes, those wily women have blindsided him imo. I am willing for him to see through them.
I'm excluding Louise Haigh from that comment as I doubt she knows everything. She's a terrible liar anyway 😉
Whereas Lies Kendall, well, she's loving her star performances and scripts!!!

I understand. I have been fighting the DWP/ system/ society for my disabled son for over twenty years, then the last five years having to fight for myself as well. Like you, I have nothing left to fight with. Just totally demoralized, worn down and exhausted with it all.

obviously nothing is 100% confirmed till the autumn budget and the disability white paper is announced (both of which should happen within the next 50 days)
And I also realise that as a scope moderator and member of staff that you have a huge responsibility to try and keep members (and readers) of scope as let’s be honest - with all the news pieces and rumors that has dropped the past 4 weeks there’s a lot of panic in the community (a lot of ppl are in ‘headless chicken’ mode) and to be blunt a lot of ppl mental health has been totally fudged up by the quotes coming from some areas of the labour gov and total silence on some things we really needed to be put out of our misery for weeks ago
(And I don’t know what you are thinking in private but I imagine as a scope moderator you have to be significantly more mindful what you post then the average members to safeguard the most vulnerable posters)
However we know that politicians often lie. From what has been made public liz Kendall has only met the scope chairman? (And other charity representatives) right at the beginning of labours tenure and honestly the cynic in me thinks it would of been very easy for Kendall to tell your representatives what they wanted to hear from an incoming dwp labour minister to encourage charities to be patient and basically get them off the govs back (many charities are telling disabled people to be patient and not believe the papers - prehaps this turns out to be the truth - but I imagine it’s been helpful to Kendall these past few months not having to deal with backlash and major public scrutiny from the major disability charities) - I hope charities like scope were wary enough on the possibility that Kendall may not of been honest with her intent and started talking to human rights lawyers as a belt and braces precautions (or planned somewhat for the possibility of Kendall going dark side) because right now it looks like the disabled community may be headed towards the biggest ‘attack’ on our human rights/standards of life since ian Duncan smith brainchild of universal credit and they may get away with it (no time to trigger u turn) because disability charities (our voice) refused to foresee & plan for a situation like the one we may be weeks away from.
for a split second in the labour conference I thought there was a slivers chance Kendall could possess a little human empathy - but the idea of sending jobcentre staff into hospitals to ‘help’ (some of societies most vulnerable) mental health sufferers write cvs (and imply that a hugely successful pilot was carried out which common sense wise has to be bulls**t) is beyond madness and regardless of opinion on labour as a whole I’m personally under no doubt that liz Kendall is unfit to be dwp minister and that starmer is irresponsible at best leaving the fate of many disabled ppl under her
It’s a very abrupt statement on my part - but I’ve got to be one of the few members who understands why the dwp needs to reduce the benefit bill and the consequences of doing so (I’ve been borderline defending and justifying expected upcoming changes in other posts - for someone who hates the dwp that’s not easy but I also don’t think many disabled ppl are acknowledging the reasons why the dwp seem to be ultra focused on disabled right now and it’s not just to spread misery)
But Liz Kendall didn’t just cross the fine line this week, she destroyed it (I’m still willing to give McGovern and timms a chance and am still open to labour turning things around (and due to personal circumstances I’ve got more reasons then most to be livid with many decisions labour are making but labour haven’t been in power to enough time to hold their hand up when a mistakes been made and I’m all for second chances) but I’m 99% sure that Kendall is a malicious, unempathic individual who has no business deciding policy on disabled ppl)
sorry for the somewhat emotional response - I have a lot going on right now4 -
Going on averages from those stats you provided
Hoping in approx 18 months time (but crossed fingers of much much much sooner) a certain someone succumbs to those stats

Labour got through 8 shadow ministers in that time so they do have form but Keir Starmer needs to act swiftly.
Kendall hasn't really changed in 10 years. She nominated Jeremy Corbyn for party leader as a joke then sabotaged his leadership.

Let's be under no mistaking Kendall is definitely a nasty and dangerous person and I agree fully with the last few posts I try be positive and logical and support people, calm them and believe me I care very much about you all, But I have my wobbles also and know unless she's removed from the position life is going to be unbearable for some and over for others.
the fact that she will decide wca changes to achieve that 3bn cut frightens me witless and I have no doubt she'll find the most spiteful and cruel ways possible if she thinks she'll get away with it.

Now I was always worried for lwcra take pip I don't care But now focus off pip to wca THINK ask why they mentioning pip at a later day they now they can't overload us with to big hits ie change to wca and pip it's no time to celebrate thousands of us will be pushed How can this be allowed ???? I know a lady ellen clifford was taking to judical court the tories for changes to WCA pls Lord I hope she still can this is unbearable suffering a whole year to end up back to the fear we had when sunak said same policy's How much more suffering do they want to bring sorry trying to stay grounded but realistically doesn't look good can I ask what does factoring into treasury mean god just want some peace

Reading that DWP might be targeting people with mental health problems ? What would be classed as serious mental health disability I
0 -
@Catherine21, I’ve merged a few of your recent discussions into this one as they all focus on the same topic.
I understand how worried you are, but the answers to your questions haven’t changed. Currently, no one knows what changes may be planned regarding PIP, the Work Capability Assessment, or benefits in general. It’s also unclear what will be considered a serious mental health disability and it would do no one any good for us to speculate.
Until we know more, we're going to try and keep all discussions and speculation in one place in our new discussion on benefit reforms. Please feel free to continue asking questions there.
Thank you for your understanding,
Morgan
