You're welcome. I see you are migrating from Income Related ESA and housing benefit. Both of those will continue for 2 weeks and then stop, so you won't be without money. Tax credits stops as you've now submitted the claim for UC.

You can also request an advance payment from UC but this does need to be repaid back and your future UC payments will be reduced.

Were you in the Support Group for ESA? If so then please make sure you put a message onto your journal to tell them you are in this group. Please do not provide a fit note, even if they ask you, which they may.

yes I’m in a support group for ESA . I might ask for an advance payment so I request an amount or do they offer a certain amount ? Thanks

There will be a maximum amount you can request once you've had your first appointment. It will be based on your maximum UC entitlement.

This may seem rather low at first but the amount will increase once things have been verified on your claim, such as ESA Support Group, rent and any children you may have on your claim.

that sounds ok . Thanks so much for your help I don’t have to worry now about bills . CAB worked it out that I would gey £1617.95 plus extra £231.52 a month or how they pay it . My esa now is £481.10 every 2 weeks . I don’t know what how I would’ve got through the bad anxiety with all your help on here . Thank you

You're very welcome, I'm glad I could help. It sounds like your ESA included the Severe disability Premium so yes there will be some entitlement to Transitional Protection.

can poppy please clarify about the Work capability assessment

I work 16 hours per week and have a disability and have sent in Dr fit notes to say l can only work a maximum of 16 hours per week.

One of poppy’s post said you won’t get a wca if you earn more then 16 hrs at minimum wage

I work 16 hrs per week and have just been sent a wca form

They shouldn't refer you if your earnings are more than 16 x NMW/week, unless you're claiming a disability benefit such as PIP/DLA or ADP. If you're claiming one of those you can be referred regardless of earnings.

Do you have to have had a Work Capability assessment before you get a Work Allowance

Yes, you can fill it in. You were referred, which is all the matters. For the work allowance, if you don't have children on your claim then yes you need a work capability assessment. If found to have either LCW or LCWRA then you'll be entitled to the work allowance. Useful if you work but otherwise not.

    hi

Just been for a verification meeting at my local job centre for universal credit , I receive contribution based esa also and the lady adviser advised I should get a fit note from doctor because after a year I will need one for my universal credit claim as my migration will end after that, I have been on contribution based esa since 2017, I thought once I transfered over I wouldn’t need to provide doctors notes until reassessed for esa ?

You've been advised incorrectly. You do not need to provide a fit note because you're in the Support Group for ESA and you'll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim. ESA Support Group has no end date and it continues for as long as you remain entitled to it.

If you haven't already, put a message onto your journal and tell them you're in the Support Group for ESA. It usually takes up to a few weeks for ESA to send your details across.

    hi poppy

Thanks for reply I have been following your advice and guidance when applying, the lady was quite insistent that in a year I would have to get a sick note even though my last sick note was 2017, I put on my journal when I applied that me and my wife claim contribution based esa and quoted regulation 19, I will not get a sick note and let it ride out as I trust your advice more than the lady in the job centre. Thanks for helping

morning , I have untill the 20th of this month to migrate over to UC which I will be doing the online form over the weekend and UC have non stop been sending me letters and texts . I have bad mental health and in September I was diagnosed with severe loss of hearing which I now have to where hearing aids . They are really stressing me out with their letters and texts . Has anyone else had this from them ?

The letters and texts are because your deadline is approaching and no application has been made.

Perhaps the frequency could be improved but reminders are a good thing, the number of people who didn't complete the migration process (which I know will be for varying reasons) is worryingly high each time recent statistics are published.
