Autistic experiences of Christianity

Generally most, not all but most, religions relax the rules if following the rules will bring you within direct physical harm.
My partner once informed me of a lesson she learned at Saturday school under her local rabbi. I can't remember how they got on the topic but a rabbi asked a child what would they do if someone threatened them harm unless they ate a pork product. The child answered "I would not eat the pork product".
The rabbi then informed them "Your life is far more important to God than the breaking of this rule. The correct answer was to eat it."
In the same way, if you have a condition and the rules make it difficult to manage with the condition, the rules are relaxed.

Thank you Jimm Scope for the reply and your thoughts relayed gave me more confirmation that this is the case.
I am glad this has been exposed.
There seems to be another generalisation made about autistic people and this extends to people with a faith a well who are autistic at the same time who do appreciate some music once in a while.
Some autistic people very loud music at times. They listen to music and even play some instruments etc etc. I am me I have auditory issues as well. I can tell I struggled with an organ in my later life as I was listening it was reverberating in my body and moving me at my core the noise. I had to leave for my safety and recalled at times the 5 year old me who goes running into the playground not knowing when is going and just heard and heard the piano very loud in morning assembley.
I have my own song list on music on Youtube with a few selected I recall or been recommend to listen. Sometimes it may take my senses it seems a bit of time to warm up in the day to appreciate and be able to receive the music, a big steel band at 9am, you might bad some say stunt. May get them in. Now at 5pm you may feel more relaxed. I bought a mini drive and loving it bashing with no fear aim, leap me out of my skin and come to my senses even autistics all need times a bit of noise to wake up the senses. I have created a Playlist that can be shared a friend on Youtube asked to write song lists down for them as they do the piano at their church and needed new music and it was too task like so I added the playlist and hit to make it to make it public.
Now here I say is a challenge and i don’t to go one without all I have.
Now there is truth for some autistics not all. Some do struggle with imagination a limited at such for imagination. A parable often needs one to imagine this and then turns to this and that as well. You may flounder a bit for a while. I get some but cannot explain it such as Body of Christ this is not a parable. The body is Christians. Head is Jesus Jesus is responsible for the entire body. Members of this body humans will be gifted usually a gift to serve the church for the church usually. Services usually take place at church and you part of the body. United my dad by the sacracments to the head of the church by forgiveness from Sacracments. We all work for the body of Christ and no one works can work alone but we need to support eachother.
Vine and brances. You are the vines and branches. Why not just be vines and who is who..
Yes there is a source and I would take one to one lessons to pin down the essential expanded meaning of the parables so I have them with the hightest understanding and I think someone should it on that seems trusted the parables stripped meanings for a dummie essentially not take that seriously, but broken for anyone and those limited imagination.
A good study guide. A good study guide.

I meant I bought mini drums not a mini drive. The drums are excellent. Staying at home and a blend of hypersenstive and hyposensitive as assessed by an OT under testing. I need a bit of noise sometimes to my senses.
I excluded a bell which triggered my senses.
I settled at a drum I started my cooker hob top in glass to determine. Wow that felt better. I cannot do punch bags too much for me.
This is perfecto and perfect size. I attached a photo and I got it from Amazon.

I hope that life is treating you all well. I have been hanging in there and holding tight faith wise.
I now have a clear understanding of the parables I wanted to.
Some good news for me, back in late 2022 during COVID I applied to volunteer as a hospital chaplain volunteer and I got through but there was issues with COVID and it never restarted. Recently I have found that this position has come up locally and I applied and it is looking good. It would be like two hours a week or every two weeks visiting people that wanted to see someone of spiritual matters. I am someone who needs something to keep functioning as best as I can, so I am looking forward to this and seeing how I get on. I can only but try and give it my best shot.
Also, someone pointed this story out to me as well about a young child and his Christian faith and gifts and I thought that I would post this as well and a link to his mum's website.

The American stuff just doesn't work over here. It's a cult.
They are not 'truths' if by that you mean facts. Please keep autism out of this nonsense! It offends me.

Thanks for sharing your update, it’s inspiring to hear about your faith journey and progress with the parables. I am glad to hear that the hospital chaplain volunteer role has come up again locally and that you’ve applied. It sounds like a meaningful way to connect and make a difference, and I hope it all works out for you. It’s great that you’re excited about the opportunity, and I’m sure your efforts will be really appreciated by those you visit.
Thank you also for sharing the link to Josiah’s story, it’s inspiring to see how his faith has helped him, as a non-speaking autistic child, communicate his spiritual truths. I found it a very interesting read.

Are you earning commission for these plugs?

MW123, thank you. I am glad you find it interesting as well and the volunteering job was really welcome news by me.
This needs to be stay on track. To WhatThe you have made it known you have no interest but to your choosing decide what to do of course. This is the internet people can share links of interest. The first was about Christian autistics all found on the net with their stories. A christian will usually share another Christian's work and might not understand it as not a Christian yourself, it is called about being part of a body of Christ, a network. and it might of help to someone even if it didn't help them.
I stopped some to avoid anything combative but I will not be silenced though. I even need to read it again for the time limits I had. Stories about the Christian of the Holy Spirit which he had appeared to have interests me immensly.

No commission in the temporal, but a better package deal in the hereafter!

There are world faiths. Christianity is not a cult, nobody has ever forced me to practise my faith. People are free to choose what they want where I live. I prefer on some things to discuss with other Christians. The theory of religion was outdated about autism saying like autistics cannot have a faith as they struggle to believe in a creator due to the condition. This can do harm to some people. Some Christians with autism ca have spiritual gifts and this can help them to have a faith and it needs to be said at times because of the damage done by things like theory of mind. I find it helpful and why wouldn't I share that with others as well.
I do not welcome confrontation so just left this thread largely for the necessary because of interactions like the WhatThe in this thread. The helpful posts I have welcomed like the link to the Inclusive website. Unfortunetly I haven't been to join for a little while but hopefully next week I will. I have found out some very helpful things as well.
I read the article this morning through as I just skimmed before and posted as I posted in the first post other autistic stories. This is another but though younger and time non verbal. The mother is not looking for healing for her son. There is nothing wrong with the story. It is a matter of faith. If not are interested in Christianity then that is fine it is up to you.
I think the story was a nice story and it is nice to hear from a non verbal autistic as well who using their own talents to create.
I do what feels by my creator. The Art of Autism I do not have not got any articles on there and not registered.

That sounds really positive. I hope the position as a hospital chaplain volunteer works out for you. I agree it’s really good to have something to focus on and also you would be helping people.

Thank you surfygoose. I did get the inclusive study guide and they suggested about listening on audio as well. I am still reading.
About the young boy-I've been out this morning. I went to the dentist. I think this child may likely have one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit-perhaps the gift of prophecy or something else as found in the Book of Corinthians. When I have read like the Old Testament I love it when the angels would come and give a message on God's behalf. It doesn't work like that in the modern world, but the gift hasn't ceased yet. I think it is always a good idea to wrap it around its gift so those may struggle to understand get it. Like some people have the gift of healing ministers often and wisdom or knowledge. He has a gift for sure whatever one it is.

Just please stop dragging autism into this. Autism is real and has no bearing on any religion or vice versa..

'Autistics' - as you insist on calling us - struggle to believe in nonsense. I can agree with you on that point.

Hi @MsR Can I just ask a bit more about your role of "Chaplain Volunteer". Do you have to have any previous experience to do this? Are you a Chaplain helping out? Do you have to have any checks as you will be dealing with vulnerable people in a hospital setting?
I am just interested in knowing what this role entails.
Thank you.

Your beliefs are your own and you are entitled to mention them. However, quoting passages and teachings from the bible in such length is rather irritating for others. If I started posting large sections of the Koran on here, I think many people would feel affronted. This is a disability group first and foremost. It's bad enough when politics become divisive on here, let's find things that unite us and can be helpful to all.

Double amputee experiences of Agnosticism, anyone?
Bi-polar experiences of Humanism?

OK folks, I understand the topic of religion can get quite heated, but can we all please try to be nice to each other?

Quite heated? The world is at war on the back of these fantasies which should not be touted on a disability platform in a secular society!
