Autistic experiences of Christianity

WbatThe I have not used the words that there is a connection between autism and faith. So where you get this from I have no idea and I have replied about this previously to your question. I already discussed as well about theory of mind and religion where is concerned. You can research that more if you care to from the research that has been provided.

Scope, please…? 🤪

Sorry, I shouldn't have said what I did. Religion just presses my buttons, but I shall refrain from further comment on this thread.

I am diagnosed with autism and have several level 2 needs as I wrote in my first post. May be some people should read it again. I spent a bit of time before I made the post reading the forum. I am not a very wordly person and don't do chat very well and have very limited restricted intersts as part of my autism and that is how I am as well. I have also have level 2 communication needs as well. I am not so chatty like some people on here it seems. I do like some aspects of nature and have my own Youtube channel for that. I have had other intersts to in my life. I am not a child, so some of these interests have stalled like collecting fun t-shirts. I have outgrown that. My faith for me is the most important in my life and my family as well.
I wrote this before-I didn't really expect anyone to post from observing the forum, and thought the first post may just stand to read the stories if anyone was interested and when others replied I thought perhaps there was some potential for this thread to be a support thread for other Christians as well and potentially those who may have questions as well who were interested. I didn't perceive any of this how it got derailed to me. I haven't experieced this on other autistic forums, but was looking after a while to have a conversation with those who I had not encountered on this forum and their take.
I started being perhaps being too text based and then loosened up to fit the forum which directed me which was helpful. After the difficult experiences for me I was just use it for the sharing of important information and didn't express about my own needs and difficulties here much beyond scripture because of the hostile environment.
Some people can very different online to they are offline and I am not like that at all and don't really get it.
I have had a look at those who I linked and the Premeir is in the UK and most people were actually from the UK and a further two stories were posted and that is fine as well.
I will say I do like this article from Premier as well. None of the people were autistic but they all have their own challenges and are disabled as well. Some of their take on things I do like and one of them has their own supportive page on Youtube as well.
Good luck everybody with your life.

Congratulations everyone for getting to page 5 on this thread. It looks like an engaging conservation. Well done to @MsR for being the first person to post on page 5

🤣 I feel your pain!

While emojis offer a quick way to express ourselves, especially for those who prefer visual communication, they can sometimes be misinterpreted. Emojis like 🤣 can seem dismissive or hurtful on serious posts, especially those about personal experiences or faith, and can verge on bullying.
Let's aim for clear, respectful dialogue, being mindful of how our messages might be received, and create a more inclusive, supportive space for all members, including those following along.

I'm sorry but I don't think religion topics should be allowed on this forum, It will always get into a heated argument and I don't know why scope is allowing it to go on. One of the reasons why I stopped commenting and coming to the forum is becuase of these types of threads being allowed on the forum. I come on this forum to help others, not to be scaremongered about benefits everyday or have any sort of religion shoved down my throat.
I'm the sort of person who believes religion is the biggest wrong with the world, it has done nothing but start wars, killed people and is our biggest set back in life. If you want to practice religion then it should be a private affair and not intrude or be pushed onto others. Being autistic I just don't get the justification to try make others christian, or constantly trying to brainwash others. religion is nothing but the biggest fairytale ever told, and thats all it is. The bible and all other religion text were man made and taken from stories or misinterpreted information. If a christian actually did some research into what they are beleiving in and understood that most of the bible is actually talking about constallations in the sky or other events in history. You can believe in an afterlife without being religious. I could go on for hours about this, but I'll leave it at that
I'm sorry but these topics really annoy me, and again I don't understand why scope allows them on their forum. On other forums its a dead set rule not to talk about religion, and its one of the reasons I'm staying away from here.

Hi all, just a reminder to please be respectful to others. Civil, safe and supportive as always.
You may not agree on certain topics, and disagreements are all part of life. But if you don't wish to contribute to the discussion in a meaningful way and things start getting personal, then often it's better to step away and join in with discussions elsewhere 😊

It can be interesting for me to read and learn where some people explain like brookrabbit did yesterday and the post today expressing how they feel about religion.
I was thinking the links would stay and no conversation would be had. I searched looking for threads to join several times and nothing on my faith. Even forums with no religious section sometimes debate is had among other autistics about faith matters.
At the end of the day peoples faith is down to have one or none. I certainly have no intention to shove down anyones throat. It doens't work like that. The newest research has been added and if anyone wants they can choose for themselves.
All forums are unique and some new people will be here and wanted to converse with them on others matters of interest and where I may be helpful in other areas as well.
I had the interview second one and it looks good. This is for the hospital chaplain volunteer/pastroal visitor. King's also have this advertised King's in London, but careful if interested as I followed this in 2022 and was informed passing that there was no voluntary role at the end.
I wanted to results I mentioned to show it is what it is and I have other conditions and I am in a position above anyone and have been disabled for decades.
I want to show also two forums for neuro diverse people who have autism mostly and they sections where to discuss spirituality and faith. It may not always plain sailing but people to get have a say and one thread is not taken over if you know what I mean lol. New people are here though who may have not heard and be in the loop. Eye opening and thank you.

This is not a forum for "autistics" and never will be. You have posted many links to American websites. No professional has ever used that term or mentioned ASD levels to me.
You invited members' comments about "Autistic experiences of Christianity". That's what you got but you don't like what we've told you!
I took you at your word (since I am autistic) but perhaps you meant to invite Autistic Christians?
If you'd like to start a new thread about peaceful religions, that could be truly inclusive and beneficial to us all. This one isn't.

I am not an "Autistic". It is not a noun or pronoun and should not be not capitalised. It reminds me of another word which we no longer use because it is considered offensive!
I am autistic because I have autism. My NHS MyChart refers to it as Asperger's disorder which is also new to me but still preferable to your repeated references to "some autistics".

WhatThe I am trying to get what you mean. Let me try, I am saying many autistics as simply because I am not talking all autistic as many of them may not have a faith or a different. What is the issue and what is it exactly that you would be more comfortable with rephrased.
As I stated I was not inviting everyone experiences with Christanity. Autistic Christian experiences was in reference to the stories of the Autistic Christians I linkedt their experiences and pretty much said so in the first post. We have moved on from that but I wasn't inviting it as you think.
. I think in the first post there was only one link of a young woman who is from America. The David Derbyshire one about spirituality he himself is from the UK.
We are both grown up and don't need to be told what to do.
You see on the NAS the national autistic forum which has no religious section unlike the two neurodiverse see how the peacefully engage in debates about spirituality and faith. It is different creature here but life and new experiences and things to be learnt.
There are autistic people who have religion as one of their interests.
See the National autistic forum can handle this topic of religion and this was going well until well it went in another direction.

Most of your links are American. Have a look.
We are not "autistics". We are autistic or we have autism. This should be easy to understand.
I don't wish to read about JW's with ASD. Religion has nothing to do with any neurological disorder and I'm not surprised it went in another direction!
This is a secular society, a multicultural nation. Scope is an inclusive forum. We are a community connected by DISABILITY.

I will think through what your dispute is with regards the many autistics or Autistic Christians. I will come back to that.
As I stated in the opening post with the links to stories only one person was not living in the UK. Academic research was posted two journal articles. A young US male who is non verbal and probably hasn't been able to get caught up in dogma. This is all not all not necessary.
I am not saying you needed to read about JW autistic people, I was showing it can be done peacefully on a neurodiverse forum to anyone reading this and it was peaceful previously.
In a secular society we all have a choice to do what we want in degree and that includes people being able to discuss about their faith and get support if they want to as well.

Most of your links and promos are American, as I said. Over here, we are not "autistics".
There are forums where members are connected by faith while this community is connected by disability. Seek and ye shall find.

Ok, your point is said, I don't agree but will leave it as that and will get back to the business of this thread if it remains open. If I feel like posting I will.
The three autistic forums I linked to are connected by disability but they all handle the topic of faith better than it was handled in this thread.

Where possible we like all discussions to continue, but we’re choosing to pause this discussion for now so things can cool down and we can review it. For more information, please read our online community house rules.
We will review it and if we are satisfied the discussion can continue, we will hope to un-pause it by Monday.
