Hi, my name is Fridayschild! Can my GP sign me off for a year while I get my health in check?
Hi , I have been off work for 6 months due to unexplained pain , I have been awaiting a neurology appointment for 4 months and work can not do reasonable adjustments as I don't know what is wrong with me. I also suffer with fibromyalgia on top of this and registered disabled .
Work are now saying I can't return back to my current role as my health is too poor and I agree that it is a fair comment . Can my GP sign me off for a year while I get my health in check , NHS waiting times are so long that it's pushed me into unemployment! I have applied for pip and uc , uc have awarded me standard rate and I'm still waiting to hear from pip , im so lost in this it's actually making me more unwell . Any advice would be grateful 🙏

Hi @Fridayschild, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear what you've been going through, it's never nice to be in pain and not know what's causing it.
Have you had an assessment about your health with Universal Credit or filled in a UC50 form? You can ask your GP to write fit notes and that will mean you shouldn't need to look for work if you're unable to.
Hope you get some answers about your health soon, it's horrible being on the waiting lists.

Hi Rosie
No I've not been told anything , just that I won't get any payment until I go on ssp , is this something I should be requesting or will they invite me to attend ?
