March 26th and Green Paper Mega Discussion (ITV leaks, etc)

I'm shocked after reading that the reforms and cuts will not have to go through legislation.
I'm even more stressed now because this means they can bring these cuts in immediately if they wish. I feel physically sick.

Omg hope ur wrong? I'd be happy with another 3 year award before it stops my advice if u can save half your monthly pip that's what I'm gonna do if get awarded I'm review save save save

It would be great if saving was an option for me. As things stand, I am thinking about taking my Motability car back early, as I can barely afford my daily expenses.

Me too, I didn't sleep at all last night. All the talk of green papers etc but that article says cuts don't need require new legislation. Made me feel quite sick

Welfare reforms but cuts to welfare?

We can all get a job as a work coach - £24K to £26K pa. How hard can it be to sanction people you don't like the look of? (Joking)

Sorry but they have frozen benefits before, for 4 years. They can freeze it again
2 -
I would be more concerned with them being removed than frozen! We shall have to hang on to hear what the green paper says.

Does anyone know what was said in Ellen Clifford’s zoom meeting ? I read on YouTube the cuts are expected to catastrophic.
0 -
I don't know about any zoom meetings, but I do believe (my opinion) that much of the public support cuts to social security.
1 -
I certainly won't hold my breath, waiting for a public outcry.

We don't have anything concrete yet, still alot of 'leaks' and supposition. It isn't easy, I too am concerned.

Good morning everyone,
I very rarely get political, but I seem to remember this Government saying that this 'Black Hole' that has been inherited would be filled by those with the broadest shoulders!
It turns out that those with the broadest shoulders are pensioners and the disabled!
Look forward now to a few weeks of the Government gaslighting the 'able bodied tax payer' through the media about 'predictions' of what 'their' contributions 'could' be to the welfare bill in 5 years time!
I hope Scope are all over this?
1 -
Some members of the public support any cuts to social security. HMG seem determined to chase potential Reform voters. We are not a priority for them, sadly.
2 -
I'm old enough to remember being demonised by Thatcher's government, then Cameron! I never thought it would be a Labour government, that I voted for, who would resort to such tactics in the media!
We have been constantly told of a £22B black hole that needs filling, for which no proof has ever been given! Now I am constantly seeing graphs, on TV and social media, showing a welfare bill reaching £100B in 2030! This is at best a 'foreceast' and probably draws a lot of data from hospital waiting lists, but it is being portayed and discussed in the media as a 'fact'!
This has to stop, this number is being used in the same way as the fictious 'black hole', by a government trying to swing the populist view in it's favour!
This coverage is pure gaslighting in every sense of the word!

people need to realise that anyone can suddenly have a life changing accident or condition .
3 -
People don't, that's the problem. I never thought for a moment that I would end up physically disabled, and was happy enough to go along with the popular notion that many of them were "at it".
I have a different understanding now all right. Fifteen years of worklessness, and no hope of that ever changing.

I have invisible disabilities and look fine . But when I’m bad I don’t go outside for weeks so people don’t see me in pain or fatigued . Then you get ppl saying they have a neighbour claiming but they know they’re faking it . But they don’t know what goes on behind closed doors
3 -
I'm the same I do hair makeup dress clean mask really well when I tried to interreact with people before isolation they used to say after a while your crazy the things I've done when I'm disassociated I think that's what it's called I had to isolate I was a danger to myself and got triggered so bad by bullying of a boss I left job and went on a campaign of harassing her all I can say is I had no control of myself getting arrested yes mental health is real see shadows burning smells babies crying alot more when pushed to extreme but I sound horrid but I'm actually very kind and would help anyone which was another problem attract users I could go on and on put me back into society on a permanent basis wouldn't be good and alot of people with MH will crack if this is forced upon them
1 -
you sound a like a lovely person Catherine and although it’s looking bad right now last time dwp treated MH like this it caused so much harm they had no choice but to change . I can’t see this being any different . It’s the worry of who’s I. Their firing line , the young , invisible conditions?
