I think that makes me actually worse when it comes to renewal mind, as I score 18 points on mobility (10 and 8) so meet the 4+ points there.

‘However’ while I also currently get standard daily living at 10 points, I get no more than 2 points on each category there. So as things stand I’d lose my daily living completely - I’m guessing that means at my tribunal I’ll have to hope I score at least 4 points in any one area?

    BBC - re: PIP scoring

"The bottom line here is that a pattern of recent mental health claims has been based on a range of less severe issues.

The changes announced today aim to take Pip payments away from such people from November 2026. The government knows how many, and who they are.

For now, until the Spring Statement next week, we can deduce that there are hundreds of thousands who will lose their entire £70 a week or £3,500 a year payment

If it's true then at least I've got just over a year to save, save, save, and sell a lot of my things so I've got a safety net to keep me going until I can hopefully get things overturned if I get classed as fit for work or put into LCW.

They could change their mind again, it does state it is subject to capacity as well, so they know there will be problems trying to get everyone reassessed.

    yes I know.
with my previous award they started the review process about 7 months before the award was due to end. But they had massive backlogs then.

My partner suffers from cerabal palsy, is he classed as “severely disabled” under the new rules will he be likely to be exempt from reassessment?
His condition can never improve, and he’s been through the assessments and tribunals and knowing that he wouldn’t have to go through this again would definitely give him more dignity.

Hi. Thanks to everyone for posting the links to the green paper.

I am on Old Style Cont based ESA (Support group) and PIP - Daily living and mobility.

Does anyone know if i would remain on ESA Cont based or would i move over to the new benefit? Thanks

Yes I got 13 daily living but it's made up with under 4 points. But when review time we have another assessment.

why do you think you’ll lose daily living?

the PIP changes are not law yet and so hopefully will not affect you now.

I’m just so confused about the pip thing as I’m on pip or ready and have like 5 6 years left as still have the reward thing does people need to reassed when they already have there award

I'm just confused by it. I get LCWRA, PIP lower rate for daily living and higher rate mobility. But when I first applied I didn't have this incontinence issue and I could get in and out the bath . Don't know where I'll stand with it, it's as clear as mud to me. One thing I did notice was rayner on the 1 o'clock news. Sitting there like a nodding dog on the front row. If she worked in care( and I'm sure I once read she did at one stage) there's a chance she'd have been getting universal credit anyway. Wonder how the changes would have affected her?

Ironically my only 4 point daily living descriptor is on mental health. That they are linking this to the health topup on UC as well makes the PIP changes especially cruel.
The green paper does mention a potential TP for PIP for people who lose entitlement due to the 4 point rule and even the possibility of a lower rate daily living, but they are still under consideration, not confirmed plans.

It’s very unclear. I’m on NS ESA support group, so it’s also contribution based. It doesn’t expressly state if this applies to older CB ESA or NS ESA. But it does mention ‘for new people claiming’, so may suggest it is only for new claimants?

Combining PIP and LCWRA in one assessment cannot work. PIP is additional element to help with costs for disability and daily independence for disabled and LCWRA is based on the ability to work and look for work, PIP is an extra element (and should be an automatic benefit if you meet requirements in my opinion) PIP is centred around the physical aspect of disability.

If they want to combine both into one PIP assessment they will have to rewrite the whole assessment to include mental health disabilities otherwise nobody with mental health will qualify for PIP. It is absolutely ridiculous. This is the 21st century. Modern times mean modern disabilities. These are serious debilitating scientifically and medically proven conditions that affect people. We are not in the 1800s anymore. For the gov to completely disregard mental heath in the new assessments would be very worrying. There are a lot of silent sufferers who do not have the ability to fight the machine that will be punished because of this. How can this benefit the most vulnerable?

Thank you, I just hope it helps people. the 4 point rule will devistate me if this happens, I got mostly 2s and some 3s in mine but I managed to get the higher tier with combined points. I don't undertand how that currently I'm elligable for daily living and mobility but with no changes in my condition or circumstances suddenly I'm not. It's very unhanded and shows a complete lack of understanding and empathy about long term sickness and disability, especially when they fluctuate (like mine)

The way I read this is at my next assesment in a couple of years I'll loose PIP completely due to this 4 point rule. One thing I would say in one the re-assesment forms be blunt and explicit in everything you struggle and can't do. I and lots of people tend to minimise our struggles, this is not the place to do it. One major thing is consider how you are on your absolute worst day when involving PIP.

I think we need a lot more clarity over the 4 point thing and hopefully it'll never come to pass. Hopefully this is just a wishlist and they won't be able to do all this.

hi guys I’m on the new style and the support group. I have no idea what is going on. Will I receive this anymore or not? What is everybody’s understanding as I’m unable to work I am blind and have peripheral neuropathy which is excruciating in my legs. Can someone just clarify it all, please? Tia

I hadn’t realised they weren’t already happening. I had a LWRCA re assessment only a year or so ago. I’d already been on it for quite a while then suddenly got a reassessment. So I had thought reassessments were back on again now.

You did not upset me, bookrabbit. I felt exactly the same as you, it wasn’t as bad as I had anticipated. Sometimes, the build-up to big news can feel more daunting than the news itself. It’s reassuring to see things aren’t as dire as expected. We’ll have to wait and see how it all unfolds, but for now, that’s enough to put my mind at ease.

I agree. It’s pretty bad but it’s nowhere near as bad as I feared. I honestly thought they’d slash or remove LCWRA and PIP money immediately, as in next week or something.
