Green Paper Related Discussions

The consultation deadline is currently the 30th June 2025. Have you responded yet? If so, have you any tips for those who are looking to?
This is our newest discussion about Labour's Green Paper on benefits reforms. If you're looking for links to the consultation and information about consultation events, you can find that on the first page of the previous discussion here:

Spring Statement with documents
Here’s a bit about what we at Scope are doing too and how you can help!
- Our cost of cuts campaign now has over 90,000 signatures. Have you signed yet?
- 30 Labour MPs have scheduled meetings with us about how they can act against benefit cuts in Parliament. Campaigners can still invite their MP to meet with us during the consultation period.
- 95 MPs from a range of political parties, and their staff, attended an event we ran in Parliament on 2 April. Disabled people spoke to them directly about the extra costs they face. And how disability benefits support them.
- We introduced the green paper consultation action which campaigners have been completing. This helps the Government to understand the real impact of making it harder to claim PIP.
We’d love to hear from you in the comments!

At least is good news the minister for Wales doing a speech today to ask uk to stop pip cuts and we still have our human rights I was so worried they would take that away

Hi All
Looking for your advice please. Firstly, I'm sorry if this question has already been asked; however I've been recovering from quite a nasty fall down the stairs so I might have missed it.
I've done the consultation questions online. Personally I was disgusted with the way they are worded, almost as if they are assuming acceptance of the reforms 😡I've also written to my MP (never heard back, but not overly surprised at that tbh). I think (hope!) I stated very clearly and concisely (and politely) my concerns, why these reforms shouldn't come in, how the Government haven't thought it through etc. and that they haven't thought of the wider picture.
Do you think there is any point in sending a similar sort of letter in response to the consultation (rather than just answering the questions). If so, do you know where it should go to please? Any thoughts much appreciated. Thank you

Hi Holly ,
Is this the new discussion from the previous one that was closed this morning ?

It is @secretsquirrel1. Hopefully with it not being as chunky as the other one, it'll stop the posting issues where people weren't able to add comments. 🤞

benefits cuts U turn ?

I just watched it . Rich is quite good and knowledgeable

Mike Amesbury who lost his seat due to attacking a constituent has spoken out about the cuts. He said Labour will lose the next election if they go ahead. He also mentioned losing his house due to losing his job. It must make others think of their ride on the gravy train ending next election.

i've said all along that the local elections could play a massive part in the destination of these cuts …
it's panning out that way !

oh I really hope so 🤞

Yes I have responded but I don't think the DWP really want to consult on anything with the general public.
Benefits and works have posted a couple of articles this morning I will link them here, one of them is due to numerous people not being able to log in to the green paper consultation event this morning.
The other refers to the ambiguity in the answer Stephen Timms gave about Pension age PIP claimants.

I didn’t see a link from the last discussion and had to google. I hope the other posters find this thread .

@secretsquirrel1 I've popped a link in Holly's last message on the old discussion, hopefully that'll make it easy to find for everyone ☺️

DDUK are pretty good and knowledgeable. Rich worked for dwp himself so I’m hoping he’s optimistic for good reason 🙏🤞

Tried to get into green paper action to sign but it seems to not work. Have labour blocked it?

Hi secretsquirrel, I have watched DDUK near enough since they started their channel, I used to love the caravan journeys/holidays, they seem a lovely couple. However, I have never heard Rich say he used to work for DWP ? Has he said this at some point ? If he has I missed it lol 😁I know he says he has contacts within the department, was just wondering to myself haha 😄
