⭐️Summer Holiday Support - An Introduction for Parents & Carers of Disabled Children ⭐️

We’re at least a week into the summer holidays now, perhaps even longer for some of you! How is it going?
The summer holidays can be a time of fun and freedom but it can also bring some challenges. The structure of the school day disappears, routines can get disrupted, support services may be less available and the days can feel very long!
If you're already feeling stretched, tired or just in need of a little extra support then you’re not alone. These feelings are valid and they are really common this time of year😊
This is why over the next few weeks we are going to be doing a Summer Holiday Support series on the family side of the community which I really hope will be helpful!
We are going to look at things like…
- Accessible days out and where to find them
- Sensory friendly and accessible school uniform
- Preparing your child to go back to school
- Transitioning from Primary School to Secondary School
- Asking for support and adjustments
- Keeping routine at home
- And more!
If there is anything you would specifically like to see or have any questions then please let me know below!
How are you finding the summer holidays so far? Do you have any words of wisdom or funny stories that you would like to share with other parents on the community?😄

This is the weird part of summer I find. In a mere six weeks or so, we will be wondering whether to turn on the central heating!
The first week and fourth week of September can be two different climates entirely!

It's been like two different climates already today @Ranald! It was absolutely tipping it down earlier and quite chilly but now there's not a cloud in the sky and really hot again!

Been thundery rain most of the day here, but we have had warm days too.
I think people sometimes expect weeks of hot weather, which is unrealistic, certainly at a more northerly latitude.
