Good morning @Bluebell21. Great idea about accessorising my walker. I have caution tape on it now. Not very festive LOL! At the very least, I should remove the caution tape. LOL! Due to all my foot problems and massive shoe size, I just can't find anything pretty. But I will keep trying because that's important to me. It may not be to everyone, but we need to work with what's important to us. I have felt pretty at a much larger dress size and a much smaller dress size, as well as without hair and with hair, so I'm hoping I can learn to feel pretty even though I can't walk and even when I'm in excruciating pain. And if not, that's okay. The idea is that I'd like to try. This is my first formal occasion since my feet gave out on me three years ago, so it's a good time to try. I'm looking to feel pretty for myself, not for others, because everyone has their own idea of what is beautiful. To me, everyone is beautiful in some way. I just have to find my new beauty. Do you remember when you had to give up heels if it was difficult? And if it was, do you remember how you adjusted?

Hi @WelshBlue and thank you. Back in 2020 when we had the COVID lockdown, there were only a few professions that were allowed to keep working. Hairdressers were one of them. 😊

Hey @Santosha12 So I'll ask you the same questions… Do you remember when you had to give up heels if it was difficult? And if it was, do you remember how you adjusted? And why oh why did you give away all your silver jewellery??? OMG you're hilarious - of course a cape swoosh requires speed. LOL! Re dressing up my feet is exactly what I'm doing. I'm able to paint my toenails for the first time since I lost some of my toenails to chemo in 2015. This is only the third summer that I have all my toenails, and it's been three summers in a row, so they're finally healthy enough to take nailpolish, as long as I take if off right after the wedding. I'm soooooooo crazy thrilled about that! Three years ago when my feet gave out on me, I bought a silver and amethyst heart toe ring to help keep me focused on sending love and tenderness to my suffering feet. I'll wear that to the wedding (I wear it every day). Yeah, I'm getting really excited too as the outfit is coming together. Thank you so much for your shared enthusiasm. ❤️ I going to hop in the shower now and try to style my hair. Be back later to post pics of the second-hand jewellery from my Mom. Oh good morning @Starryeyed , your toe ring sounds lovely, I 'worked with feet' after I trained in Reflexology years ago and I'm glad you've healed enough that your nails have grown back; chemo can be a long hard road, my mums' hands and feet were badly damaged from it but she recovered from that in time.

I last wore heels on Friday 24th January 2020 at my sister's partners funeral, only 3" heels but I've kept those boots just in case I can ever wear them again but I doubt it. They went well with my cape. Tbh, it didn't bother me as I had to wear flat shoes nursing up until finishing in Jan '23 and I've not been anywhere to socialise since Saturday 7th December 2019, my mum's birthday. I'm on a very long waiting list to see rheumatology (at least a year still even though it's an urgent referral) 'cos of my ankles/bones which are not very stable so I wouldn't dare wear them now, would really struggle/find it impossible to walk in them.

If I was going out again I'd maybe look for low-ish c 2" block style heels vs stiletto type but I'm not planning on going anywhere 🙄🤨😅 .

I gave my jewellery to a Blue Cross shop so I don't really mind. It's one of my favourite charities, it was called 'Our dumb friends league' when it started in the 1890's looking after working horses in London. I hope they made profit, the shop I bought the amber from didn't make anything! I've sometimes thought of sending it to the Blue Cross via special delivery but can't bring myself to yet!

The photo is me with Snicket, I took it on New Years Eve. I have no photos of me with my previous 3 dogs, Jack, Matilda and just one with Mr. Jones. I don't really do 'selfies' but realised I have none with my current 4 dogs so trying to remedy that!! Just about worked out how to balance the 'phone on desk and press it in time, took around ten goes to get it focused etc 🙄🙄 but I can't easily grip the 'phone and press it to get a photo. I've hundreds of photos of just them. I've got two hard drives from old laptop and PC but don't know how to access them to retrieve photos I'll have to ask my PC man at some point.

Looking forward to seeing your photos later. Btw, do you remember 'crimpers' at all? I used them in the '80's they were fab.... wild hair for clubbing ha ha.

I only ever wore high heels once and the heal of one of them broke so I had to walk home bare foot.

It was so painful.

I can't walk in heals and I actually love the comfort of flats.

Luckily where I live in a surfing town most people go for flats.

I don't often wear skirts or dresses but here we can get lovely flat sandals, sparkly or with flowers and they look so pretty.

I'm sure you will have a wonderful time at the wedding and you will look amazing.

Oh dear @luvpink that was a terrible experience in breaking your shoe. Ouch! Even though you don't wear dresses or skirts, do you wear feminine pants? You gave me a great idea to see if I can decorate my frumpy shoes. Wow! Even though you didn't mean to. Thank you!!! I need flat shoes with a wide toe box and extra-large size and a cushioned inside sole with hard outside sole. As such, most of them are men's shoes. They just don't carry large women's sizes here. The largest is typically a 41. So my shoes are not feminine at all. But decorations.....? 😊 Mmmm....

Here are my favourite silver bracelets from Mom. The top left green one is actually stone, but I put it in the pic because I think I'll wear it to the wedding.

My hair was very difficult, and I had to use a whole lot of product, two round brushes of different sizes, a hair dryer and a curling iron. I did it sitting down, which I'll do from now on. It was a challenge! At one point, I almost gave up.....

Love the jewellery especially the blue stone it looks like a lapis lazuli, I've got one but a necklace.

No, in February 2020 my mum had surgery for cancer again when I stayed with her in hospital, followed by radiotherapy this time, no chemo, and she lived with me while I took her to Christies Hospital every day for weeks. I was very ill with Covid in the November, after returning to nursing and not recovered hence no social life.

I'm ok with that now, it's definitely took some adapting to but I've done more partying/concerts etc in my time than any one person's got the right to expect. So my muttlets get my whole attention/priority now. I love music and watched Rod Stewart all day last Saturday on TV, this weekend was Ella Fitzgerald and got the best seats in the house (muttlets permitting 😂).

Sorry your hair was difficult but sitting down will help, you'll get there with the curling iron, they all take some getting used to and practice especially following a cut. I used to love the little sponge rollers as I've not got the patience but sounds like you have - it's a virtue 🫠😊.

Yes I tend to dress very feminine and lots of pretty colours.

I like to colour co-ordinate and have nice inexpensive jewellery to compliment outfits.

Hi @StarryEyed I started wearing flats about five years ago when I had a few falls when my right knee kept giving way

I did not like it at first as most of my clothes were made to wear with heels and looked dreadful with flats.

But when it is flats or falls no choice.

I am only small and wears shoes and sandals with flowers on and sparkly. Quite dressy.

Having said that I'm considering in investing in a pair of crocs

I tend to go for comfort as well as not being able wear heals.
