@SmellyBin I'm sorry you too are faced with difficult family. It's been a lifelong battle for me, but it's gotten better, albeit at times it doesn't seem like it. I own my part in the dysfunction because I typically don't stand up for myself or even state my needs. But I'm doing so more and more. After a five-month break, followed by one phone call each with these two family members, we've called another three-month break until mid-October. If it wasn't for these time-outs and the support of my brother, I couldn't stay. At times it feels like a blood sport. Pun intended. 😊

After washing the stones, I'm working on making new jewellery that I hope to post here soon. It's a Real Feel 45 degrees today!! A great day to hibernate inside. 😊

@StarryEyed Thanks for being so open about this, because even though my therapist tells me otherwise… I often feel like I am the only one who is not capable to overcome this. And indeed, it isn't always a misery. There are moments when my partner goes to a family gathering and I am not as upset, but the last time I was all over the place.
And good for you for spotting such a bargain! Yay! I am a very big fan of recycling stuff, good thing you didn't buy anything new. Enjoy working on it! And I really like the blue bowls you've put them in, lovely ceramics.

Has anyone done some crafting recently or is the weather simply too much?
Gosh, it is definitely not easy - these temperatures. But today I managed to turn my cotton spinning threads (ball on the left) together to look like a bumpy yarn on the spindle :)

Love your spindle photo. What do you do with that? Not sure I get what you're doing. I'm slowly working on that jewellery with the glass beads and will post when done. So far there are three necklaces with hopefully a fourth today. Yes, it's hard to get the creative juice flowing when you're zonked from the heat! The ceramic bowls and plate are a gift from my brother-in-law and they're perfect for jewellery making.

Morning to you, honey @StarryEyed What I am doing is get the stuff that comes from the back of a sheep into a thread, then two or three threads are turned into yarn. Yay :) The last pic is two threads of cotton, but you perhaps get the idea? This I am hoping to knit large coasters with some day.
Despite the heat, I can imagine it being nice to have something to do with your hands such as handling the beads simply for the feel of it with this hot weather?
Or if you need distraction from being overwhelmed by the temperatures, the stuff I treated myself to with my b-day money is roving from Rambouillet. Look at this stunning creature:

Probably something simple like a moss stitch, perhaps? I'll make them about 20 x 20 cm (8 inches), hopefully I've got enough yarn in the end to do two.

I meant to ask you, Rachel… what are you crafting right now? And weren't you the one telling me about dopamine dressing? The next spinning project is gonna be just that: colorful and loud :)

I'm not crafting anything at the moment but I really want to @SmellyBin. I need to get back into something creative but I've been struggling with motivation and fatigue. I'm thinking of going back to crocheting. I used to do micro crochet and make buttonholes of different flowers and I'd love to try it again.
That wasn't me but I'm very intrigued. Is it where you dress colourfully and it boosts your dopamine? If it is I like the sound of it!

Yay, you've been busy @StarryEyed I am so glad you enjoyed yourself despite the heat. I especially like the first one for it being rather simple, yet elegant. I can imagine a bracelet like that and then loads of it, a bit like the Madonna-vibe from the eighties.
Ah @Mary_Scope that dopamine dressing thing has been on my mind ever since! This project is almost all colors of the rainbow with the accent on blue (ranging from minty green to aqua, teal, pink, purple), but not orange and red. I'll share a pic when I can.

The necklaces are nicer than they look in the photos (if I may say so myself....and I just did 😆🫢). The camera just doesn't work well for some reason, even though I've been trying for two years to figure it out! Argh!
I do a lot of different styles because the jewellery goes to charities, and so there are a lot of different styles I need to cater to.

Okay, first skein is finished… not as loud as I expected, but definitely colorful. And somehow the green, teal, blue colors are a bit of a problem for the camera... this is what it sort of looks like. Imagine the grey parts to be minty green and you get the idea.
I am planning to do a cardigan for my partner, so this is a not-so-quick project I am enjoying for the upcoming time.
