Not too bad Thank you @Cher_Scope , I’ve been waiting for a package all week and I don’t this company delivers on Sunday so I can relax a bit today. Probably do some food shopping later I expect. Bit nippy here though, still it is nearly December!
My goals today - get my son to do all his homework (a tricky task with a 15yr old). I want to go for a run because it really clears my head and I've not been out enough. And hopefully finish my book.
@Lou_Scope I can sympathise with that one mine has no interest in homework, Im just glad the home schooling has finished
I have had as good spring clean today so its all ready for the decs going up, my brother coming on Tuesday to get them down for me , will also be meeting my new great nephew
Last job today to cook dinner though it all is prepared
My goal today is to get over the fact that apparently the parcel I was waiting for has actually been returned to the company I bought it from! It’s down as a return! I never even received it! And now I get a refund...maybe. Weird or what. I knew the shipping company weren’t up to scratch. I’m half relieved half disappointed 😔 still I get to decide whether to buy the item all over again or just save my money.
@leeCal so annoying especially as you have waited in for it for several days @Tori_Scope yes I am glad he is coming and even more pleased as I will get to meet my new great nephew at the same time. Glad I will at least be able to make the house look festive may get me into the festive spirit
I normally love Christmas but not feeling it this year with not being able to see the wider family
At least I have achieved my goal and finally completed all my pressie shopping , just the food now
@leeCal Oh heck, how annoying! I found a parcel dumped in our front yard with no card put through the door to let us know Let us know what you decide to do with your refund (Pssst treat yourself)
@janer1967 Ahhh that sounds lovely. Enjoy those special moments and I hope it brings you some festive cheer. I'm well jel of you having finished your prezzie shopping too!

My goal was to turn up on time for an eight o’clock hospital appointment. Arrive no earlier than five minutes before they said, so I did and waited twelve minutes for my scan. Liver not fully functioning. I was told it looked fine ish. So it’s back to the doctor at some point. Haven’t been up at six am for a very long time 😑 💤
The chip is in the area of the windscreen swept by the wipers and is in the driver’s line of sight so I decided it was best to get the windscreen replaced. It’s all done now. £50 is not too bad and I got some new Bosch wiper blades put on for no additional charge (usually they are £40)
@66Mustang the delivery was a saga. The company sent it to the shipping company, apparently they damaged it and sent it back, no one told me until I phoned them seven days after ordering! Now I get a refund. Bizarre. I’d have asked the customer if they still wanted the item and re sent another but no...weird. I’ve bought something better now anyway.
My goal yesterday was to cancel my debut card ASAP. Unfortunately it was put in a pocket along with a mask and when the mask was put on it must have fallen out of the pocket in the street somewhere! Not so good. Quickly cancelled. Luckily it seems no one has tried using it, ie swiping. Actually that reminds me the old word for stealing was swiping, ie it was swiped (stolen) interesting. 🧐
My goal today is to sort out all the pressies I have bought and get them into separate sacks ready for wrapping and also so I know what everyone has got so I know Ive not missed anyone. They are all currently all hidden in different places
@66Mustang Yes I do go a bit mad with presents all our family do but I like giving presents and the looks on peoples faces. I also have 10 people I buy for one being my son.
I do spoil him though think I try and compensate for being the only parent around, he will be lucky to even get a text from his Dad
@janer1967 yes that makes sense trying to compensate. My parents used to buy my brother loads of gifts because they often had to be there for me and weren’t around as much for my brother. I used to think it was unfair but I only realised in the last 10 years or so it was because, while my brother got most of their money, I got most of their time.
@66Mustang He gets all of my money and all of my time lol but wouldnt have nit any other way, He gives back by helping me I would be lost without him I wouldnt be able to go out without him or do some of the stuff around the house
My goal today was to go to the tyre shop to get my car looked at. I need a new tyre so getting one tomorrow and also have to go to hospital tomorrow so will be a busy day!
My goal today, which I kind of achieved after lunch, was to attend the online Zoom meeting with Disability Sheffield for the International Day of Disabilities.
Not too bad really, everyone was in the chat discussing stuff as the Host turned everyone's mic off, my main comment was my 10 year old rant that the Equality Act from 2010 isn't worth the paper it's printed on IMO because the government don't enforce it and probably never will.
Thank you @leeCal - gas disconnected on a Monday, finally got it back on last Friday. It makes you appreciate the simple things in life, & warmth is one of them! I'm just dreading the bill as quite a number of hours were involved. Thankfully my son lives 6 houses away from me, & is in my support bubble, so at least I got hot showers. I was told my gas hob was also faulty (only 3 years old), but at least that proved to be OK.
Thank you @Tori_Scope - I'm definitely pleased it's fixed & I'm warm again! Just got the invoice emailed through, & I'm also pleased to say it's incredibly reasonable, so that's a relief.
Something very rare lately has happened here two days in a row, the sun has come out. So my goal for today is to go for a short walk in the sunshine 🌞!
Very sunny here too today which I would normally enjoy . But it isnt good as I had my 3rd eye injection yesterday and it is really reactive to light so the sun really isnt helping
I achieved my goal today, went to that cheap Barber's in Hillsborough for a hair cut, well they've put their price up since I last went from 4 quid to a fiver.
@MrAllen1976 when you mention all these places in Sheffield makes me home sick . I was brought up there and all my family live there tried my best to get back but couldn't find any housing suitable
Less than a month ago I had my windscreen replaced due to a stone chip. Today I hit a grouse/pheasant type thing that decided to fly out of the verge and into my windscreen just as I was driving past. No visible cracks but going to keep an eye on it. I think the bird is having a worse day than me though.
I nearly hit a deer once at 1am in the morning, it too dived out of nowhere, ran in front of me while I was braking and then off into the dark night again, suprised us both!
@leeCal ooh lucky miss - I've heard they can do a lot of damage to a car and they can kill you if they go through the windscreen! Lucky for the deer too, of course!
I used to do bottles of homemade non-alcoholic ginger wine, & jars of cranberry sauce, & sold them to raise funds for our local hospital's neonatal unit each Christmas. We used to ask our customers to donate whatever they wanted, & some people gave £5 or £10 a bottle, & that was over 30 years ago!
@chiarieds sorry I couldn’t resist doing this, I use this website when anyone mentions money and history as I like to see what things costed in the past (I am always using it when I watch an old TV program like Fawlty Towers to see if he charged a fair price for the rooms etc. )
This is how much giving £10 in 1990 would be giving today. Very generous
My goal today is a fun one which is to wait until it’s dark and drive through the town to see the Christmas lights, and then drive to a neighbouring town which always has a couple of houses with very impressive lights on them to have a look at those.
That sounds lovely @66Mustang- enjoy! I remember we used to drive round the houses when I was younger to look at the houses who'd really made an effort.

I just had a great idea...My current goal is to eat less unnecessary food...I also love good quality food from farm shops and the like but can never justify the money they ask for their produce
So instead of buying snacks every day, I’m putting the money away then occasionally, once a fortnight or so, I will buy some really nice snacks from a farm shop or other similar craft type shop.
This means I spend the same amount but buy less snacks, but better quality, so better for my health
I feel a bit guilty going to posh farm shops as someone living on benefits, I guess the Daily Mail would love that as a story, but on the other hand if I’m saving the money up then why shouldn’t I?
I thought I’d have to wait until the Apple stores were open - they are closed due to the lockdown - but I managed to arrange a repair online. They are going to send me a box to send my laptop off.
They have a live chat facility which I found really helpful as I am unable to use the phone. I could arrange it all myself via the chat so pleased about that. I think Apple really support people with issues and disabled people.
Based on that new phone topic I did towards the end of last week, I'm tempted to get an Iphone as my next phone now that Itunes doesn't need to be downloaded on a PC to be used.. I did used to think Apple fans were a bit like Sony fans, a bit daft lol.
@MrAllen1976 I wouldn’t disagree, and that’s coming from an Apple fan. There are a lot of serious devotees who would buy a 💩 if you put an Apple logo on it, but to be honest their products are actually pretty good!
Edited as it was censored - I used a word that begins with T, ends with D and has UR in the middle. I didn’t know that was offensive but apologies if it is!
Thanks @66Mustang, considering the price of a new iPad I suppose £99 isn’t bad. I’ve had my present one for about six years now and I use it everyday all day. The battery is still more or less fine if I charge it once a day. I’ve noticed sites with heavy graphics or YouTube tends to wear it down but normal surfing is okay. So can’t complain.

I might just bung it on eBay at some point, I don't really want to but if I can't play it...
I’ve bought something better now anyway.

Just to confirm we combined the trip with a trip to pick up a prescription so it wasn’t illegal

However, I believe if it holds less than 80% of its charge, while it’s under warranty, it is considered faulty and will be replaced for free
