Apart from a little meditation all I’ve done today is go for a short walk. Nice though, I saw a magnificent swan on a boating lake. I didn’t have anything to feed it though.
Just to follow up the second part made me laugh not the first!! I’m sorry you’ve had bad experiences in the past I can recommend a really good dentist if you are anywhere near me...I’m in the south east.
Easier said than done, but it's definitely better to go in case it gets any worse @leeCal. Does anyone you know have a recommendation for a dentist that they know is understanding and gentle?

@66mustang thank you for the offer but we do have lots of dentists around. I’m in the south east as well, they call it north east Essex actually, but I won’t be specific if you don’t mind. Thanks though 🙂
Yes I understand not wanting to be specific I was being purposefully vague as well then realised the south east is a big area so not much help haha!
I agree with Tori_Scope though that it is better to get the little things sorted out now than deal with bigger problems in the future, a stitch in time saves nine and all that.
Well yes @Tori_Scope, but parking seems to be a problem. I don’t like to have to walk too far from the car, not laziness but anxiety. I did move and there is a local, one which I haven’t heard of before so perhaps I could enquire about that one. Trouble is they say raise your hand if you want me to stop but the last one I saw didn’t stop! Honestly I’ve had bd experiences with so many dentists I can’t tell you, though I did say I’d had a dentist begin a route canal drilling without giving me an anaesthetic. Terrible pain instantly. It’s not easy to forget such a thing but I’ve had other things happen too, all resulting in pain I might add. ☹️
Oh dear, that's terrible @leeCal You could always go and check out the parking situation in the new place before you enquire. I'd like to think that if you explained the situation they'd be extra careful in making sure you were comfortable, but I understand why you'd be worried about the reality of that based on your past experiences! Have you looked at reviews online?

No, I haven’t looked @Tori_Scope, I have been avoiding thinking about it and it had slipped my mind TIL five minutes ago! Ha ha. I’ll take a look at reviewers comments though, it’s a good idea. Thank you.
I'm with you there @leeCal, major needle and dentist phobia... always made things interesting! Luckily I have only ever needed one filling, but was able to get it done at the hospital. This meant they could take more time and have more things on hand to make the process as easy as possible. Yes I put it off for far too long, but glad it is now sorted.
@Tori_Scope believe it or not my son has a 3d printer and he made a large guide comb for me to fit my clippers. The idea is that the guide comb prevents the clippers from cutting too short. The one he has made me isn’t made so I’m intrigued. Unfortunately he’s sent it by second class so who knows when it’ll turn up. I am looking forward to receiving it though. 😃
@Chloe_Scope I can’t beleeeeve I’m still waiting for my package to be delivered. It was posted up north on Monday via Hermes and it still hasn’t appeared down south! I could have biked quicker, if I had a bike and I peddled fast without sleep or food stops. annoyed somewhat.
Hello I hope you are all well? I hope you are keeping busy and keeping safe?
It is truly been a busy few days for me start a new course last Thursday thankfully I have caught up with the work now starting a week one week later then the other students in the online class but was my fault it was there mistake I have been the scope online this week I will hope write a new poem and put on online scope forum in next few days
My goal is to make it through the rest of the day without damaging any more household products. I've just had the heater on and it's melted the hoover hose next to it Always stay safe people!

My goal today is to finally get out of the house for an hour!
The package I was waiting for finally arrived last evening but predictably the contents were slightly damaged and the whole thing doesn’t work anyway! Shame, I’ve waited for it since March. Life goes on.
sorry to hear your item doesn't work @leeCal, hope you can get a replacement So today i managed to get out in the shed for a bit, a friend has asked me to make him a display bust for halloween, so i finally worked my way out there, i suffer with voices shouting things at me your useless that sort of thing, constant barrage of abuse, my anti psychotic meds help with that, sometimes it doesn't though, but today i beat it and got out there and poured the rubber for the head into a mould, its drying now and tomorrow i'll pull the rubber head from the mould and see about painting it, so not to bad,
yes @Chloe_Scope I did get out for about an hour and again today! It makes a big difference and I saw some relatives too which was nice, though they have four cats which is three too many for me, but I am a dog person so not surprising. I do like cats well enough but I prefer large dogs, not too large like an Irish wolfhound, that’d be too large for me. Anyway I enjoyed myself today and that’s a good thing.🙂
Hi @Chloe_Scope I’m ok today, bit of a cold and a bit bored to be honest but other than that. I would like to go out again today but my partner gets tired from her job and I won’t go out without her so I’ll have to see what transpires.
Well yes @Tori_Scope, I give up with the guide comb thing, I adapted one which in theory should leave hair 40+ mm odd long so not too bad and I’ll leave it at that. My son made me one on his 3d printer but it wasn’t ergonomically correct and so doesn’t comb.
my goal today is to try to go shopping later on, mostly to escape the four walls ha ha. We all need to get out from time to time I think.
Managed to escape just for a short while. Just a short drive really to deliver some ferrules. When they wear through and it’s wet weather they can slip so easily, and it’s supposed to rain tomorrow by the bucketful. Safety first.
I had a good and successful day today. I had an appointment at the specialist clinic I go to which had been closed since the Coronavirus started. It went well and we have a new plan for the future. I also drove there which is a trip of 50 miles and includes dual carriageways and motorways which I find really hard due to obsessive thoughts and usually only do in 5 mile or so bursts but I drove all the way there, the family member I was with drove back however.
It was worth a go I suppose @leeCal. I'm glad you managed to get out, it's definitely important. Ugh, the weather is definitely getting worse by the day isn't it

Just the normal goals for me, to continue eating and drinking less. Maybe get back to work on my A level as I’ve been struggling recently with my issues and have not been doing as much.
My goal today is to get out again if I can, I need to be accompanied if possible you see so I rely on my partner to help out in that regard.
i do have a reason to celebrate a little though because my pip was extended for seven months, it was due to run out in March next year. So that’s a temporary weight off my mind, yay! 😃
@66Mustang you’d be a good scope poster I reckon 🙂
Is to try and focus on how my condition affects me, so I'm not a jibbering idiot when I get my dreaded but needed telephone assessment on 14 October...yay! I dont have to do face to face...feeling oddly detached about everything at the mo...
Thank you @janer1967 no support, I'm very much a loner type...it's something I'd prefer to do alone anyway...I can only cope with people online lol. At least here, everyone understands what you're going through...
I do agree @Cress I am not a loner myself though I am on my own mist if the day. But I agree I prefer to do things like assessments on my own
Its great coming on here is great and knowing others can empathise with what you are going through and also helping others get through their own issues
@cress good luck with the assessment I hope it goes well. I’ve never had a telephone assessment as I can’t really use the phone but I’ve had face to face ones and I agree staying calm and just being honest is the best way forward.
@66Mustang being a champion involves welcoming new members and giving advice on a voluntary basis and ensuring members safeguarding by reporting concerns
There is a section about it explaining if you look for volunteering opportunities
You do some safeguarding training and have a months probation period there are no fixed hours or anything
Have a look see if it's something you are interested in
Hi @66Mustang - you can also get involved in really challenging things like counting to 200 (as the goalposts seemed to move!). Now who was it that started that game, hmmm....?
Hi @66Mustang - you can also get involved in really challenging things like counting to 200 (as the goalposts seemed to move!). Now who was it that started that game, hmmm....?
Hehehe
I do feel a bit guilty starting that game as it’s a bit, not spam as such, but encourages lots and lots of posts, I don’t know if that’s frowned upon on forums?
Do you think it’s time we put it to bed now we achieved the 200 or should we keep it running?
Hi @66Mustang - don't worry, other games produce a lot of posts.....but perhaps not as quickly as on occasion with your post! Perhaps try something different?
Seriously tho, both you & @leecal would make great online volunteers.
I’m really interested in having a go at being one now, having read about it! However, one issue, the link appears not to work. Is this something that needs raising with the Scope team or perhaps they just have enough volunteers for now and don’t need any more?
Hi @66Mustang - I found the link didn't work either, as I was going to post a link here for you. I would ask any member of the Scope team as I think there's always a need for volunteers.
@chiarieds I hope people were not put off with the constant posts on the counting game. It was fun beating the admins and the reaction this morning. You might be right though, did we spoil it by naking the target almost unbeatable? Thanks to all who contributed.
@leeCal it is down to the number of posts you have made I dont know how many you have to make to get the name one of the admin team will be able to answer
I was going to reply saying the same thing, but @leeCal I see you've made slightly more posts than 66Mustang, so I'm unsure. As Jane says, ask one of Admin about it.
I know there can be glitches, as one day I went from a 'Disability Gamechanger', back to a 'Listener' which new people to the forum are given. I was 're-instated' the same day!
Just a rhetorical question I suppose but do you think we all need to set a goal for the day? Most of mine are fairly well filled with various things and sometimes the goal, if you can call it that, is to do what you planned to do.
@roberttaylor570 this thread is just a chance for a chat about whatever we might be doing on a particular day. Some people need to make something a specific goal to motivate themselves and others not, the goals can be very trivial to us but quite a difficult step for another.
youll have noticed perhaps that some days no one posts on this thread at all, which means maybe others agree with you on that day at least.
today my goal was to get out of my house for a change just to be outside and I achieved that goal, and I feel better for it. Trivial for some but extremely difficult for others. 🙂
@leeCal Thank you. I am involved with a group which helps men get together to talk about their worries and get advice from other men in the same situation. It helps combat Social Isolation and I think for many it should be their goal for that day. We are limited at the moment to groups of six where we used to have twenty plus. The Mens Shed movement is a fantastic way to get out of the "four walls".
I guessed this would be the answer and it helps so many to focus on doing something.
The different labels are just supposed to be a 'fun' way of acknowledging a member. I must say I was surprised when suddenly I became a 'Disability Gamechanger,' but didn't know why. What's important is how we try to help & support each other, as well as new members; that's the spirit of this community.
The 'likes' are somewhat arbitrary.....a member can post trying to be helpful & not get 'likes;' perhaps this is sometimes balanced by others joining in appreciating that someone has tried to be helpful/appreciating their efforts?
As far as goals go, as mentioned, they can be what others may consider trivial, but a big step for another. I do try to achieve something each day, but when it's not possible, I've learnt not to feel too bad about it. I also feel better when I do achieve even something small, but it's not every day.
This is wonderful for all pf us @chiarieds as I find if someone comes to a session of Men in sheds and they are given a task to do it helps them to have something set to achieve. I suppose I am one of the fairly fortunate ones as before lockdown my diary was full with external activities. I am on the Executive Committee of Gillingham and Rainham Constituency Labour Party, a member of the Gillingham North Branch, a Member of Medway Branch of The Co-operative Party, a Retired Unite Member and on the Church Council of my Church. So the goals I have are surrounding these activities and vary from day to day. I certainly do not regard anyone's personal goal to be !trivial". The smallest task can be a mountain to climb for some but to others can be achieved very easily.
Yes, your number of points is based on a combination of the number of posts you've made plus the number of reactions you've received So your 'rank' changes according to the number of points you have. I hope that clears things up!

I agree with @chiarieds on the “likes”. Someone could invaluably help a new member but not get a single “like” for it as the new member is unaware of the system whereas someone else could just post trivial jokes and get lots of “likes” for making people chuckle. I think the important thing is just to be yourself and be as helpful as you can regardless of likes or titles or anything else.
I also just think they are a nice way to acknowledge someone’s post if you don’t feel up to typing up a reply at that moment in time. I often “like” a post when I’m reading on my phone and then come back to respond when I’m on my iPad.
To stop fretting about someone coming to remove my shed tomorrow...why do I always fret about these things? He's just coming to remove a shed...I have absolutely no idea why something like this sends me off on a panic, but it does.
Sounds like performance anxiety @Cress I get it too, probably mixed in with a few other anxiety fears as well, things like that are complex. The thing to remember is it’s a one off meeting , presumably, and no one will be judging you any more than people usually do ha ha.
Funnily enough I need a new shed myself, I have stuff in storage atm. Must be shed time of the year 🙂
@66Mustang I’m finding it difficult to have a goal for today , though I’d like to know a little more about biocentrism. At the moment I know virtually nothing about it but something intrigued me and that was an article saying how biocentrism may point to the existence of a soul from a scientific viewpoint. That’s kind of thing presses buttons for me so I must investigate a little anyway.
Forty minutes or so waiting on the line before I got through to a person, actually that’s about normal for me. They have a very annoying tune playing though 😠
I’m going to try to fix my car today with the help of a good friend, if that works great, if not ...we’ll i would have enjoyed his company and a chat for a while. It’s only the window washer but it’s tricky, is it blocked or is it broken? It’s also in a weird place necessitating removal of the wheel arch splashboard if it’s broken. And I have a cold so it’s a job not to be sneezed at ha ha.
@Cher_Scope all done! It was quite a struggle but there were two of us. Modern engine compartments are so tightly packed it makes simple jobs very difficult. Never mind I saved the cost of a garage being involved haha. 🙂
I know how satisfying it is to complete jobs on the car. I also know what you mean about modern engines - changing a headlamp bulb was a real struggle on my last cars as everything was squashed in under the bonnet.
The windscreen washer pump had gone kaput. Some people, have said that using cheap screen washer can ruin themand I had used such stuff lately, so may have been that. we took off the wheel arch liner and got at it like that, it’s the only way apart from removing the front bumper, it’s a Renault cio. @66Mustang it took roughly an hour and the part was £20.
So today i got out in the shed and made a couple off Halloween props for a friends Halloween party, pretty pleased with them, bit gruesome but thats what he wanted, if anyone wants to see they are in the kaleidoscope art thread, in for the night now back out there tomorrow hopefully, its a big deal to me getting out there my anxiety usually gets the better of me, but i beat it today
@Grinchy Go you!! It sounds like you had a good day and kept that anxiety at bay. I will go have a peep in the kaleidoscope thread at what you made. Are you a fan of halloween?
Does anyone have any goals for today or are we all taking it easy because it's Sunday?
