53. Unemployment insurance would be a new non-means tested entitlement for people who have contributed into the system. It would be created by replacing contribution-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) with a new single entitlement, paid at the current ESA rate (currently £138pw) and will be time-limited. This would provide stronger income 54. Alongside levelling up the rate, this change would end the indefinite entitlement to contributory 

ESA for those assessed as having limited capability for work-related activity (for new people claiming). Those unemployed after the time-limited period would be able to claim UC, depending on their personal circumstances. We believe this reform would align with the removal of the WCA, by offering a route to financial support for those with temporary and short-term health conditions, including for those who may not be entitled to PIP and therefore not entitled to the health element of UC. during periods of unemployment for those with a recent work record, while revitalising the ‘something-for-something’ contributory principle in the working-age system. People claiming this would be expected to actively seek work, with easements for those with work-limiting health conditions.

My pip has 3 more years before the next reasesment.Will the proposed new pip points system apply immediately or when reasesment due?

It will be interesting to see how all this pans out.

As usual, they are portraying it as making the system better whilst ripping the carpet out from under people's feet.

I noticed she relied heavily on the assumption that 'many conditions improve'.

This leads me to wonder if/when might be reassessed, who will be making the decision? Will it be a consultant who is medically experienced? or will it be someone who checks things on Google! (believe me, I had a telephone consultant with a GP who didn't understand about my condition and said 'hang on, I'm just Googling that word')!!😣

Also, the Government has regularly spoken and promoted independent living. Speaking from my own position, if the new rules come into law, I will lose my daily living allowance of PIP. I score on 5 categories but only 2s and 3s.

So, I will have to cancel the daily help I get - I hope the government is going to fill that gap with all these new jobs they are going to push people into [cough] Disabled helping disabled.

I looked it up and physical disability is also pain and fatigue conditions protected by 2010 act as is MH which isn’t mild . I think it may be how bad your condition affects you as it is now. What we need to look out for in future which I don’t do is check the points being awarded and appeal if you think you should get the 4 points for a question. My experience is they give a lot of 2 points when you should get more but as long as you get the full points don’t appeal . Ppl will have to now so tribunal’s will be busy as there were when DLA first went to PIP

I score 4 points in one Daily living question, so i am safe i think.

Does the esa combine with jsa is that for IR esa and what is the time limit

It sounds like changes will apply from reassessment but probably not this year and maybe not next year either. 2028 is when the WCA will be scrapped and PIP will take over for the health bit of UC. Instead of the LCW criteria they will make the conditions you have to fulfil more flexible. Some will just have to talk to them others will have a reduced expectation for looking for work as compared to people without health problems. It sounds reasonable, implementation will be key.

Hello everyone.

I get high rate on both elements of PIP after a serious stair accident and surgery left my lower leg in a mess and I have never recovered. I feel like many others the 4 point new rule will be hard on some. I know I felt I should have scored points extra in one but ended up with them in another and because of the stress it caused me I just accepted it and now that could be a issue . I am aging and my Husband works full time and cares for me with my Daughter who also works full time. I am not able to claim a penny as we are over the threshold for help which does make me feel a burden as have no income at all only my PIP. Will the mobility part be ok on PIP? I know I will have to try for the extra points but I am not hopeful. I do think it will affect a lot of us and it needs some looking at. I wish everyone well thank you :)
