I've just read online that some of the benefit changes are going through without consultation. Has anyone else heard this? This was from the MS Society.

"The government is also forcing through its changes to PIP and the WCA without consulting on them. It's unacceptable they're denying disabled people their say on changes which would have a significant impact on their lives.22 hours ago"

It says in the Green Paper they are restarting them. I have the same fear of being found LCW. It is just playing on my mind constantly.

You are welcome, no, I do not have a 4 but feel I should have. I will wait for a while to see what else is said/written by the Government before I delve in any deeper. Sorry, I have not looked at LCWRA but understand that PIP will be used in any assessments rather than separately, I stand to be corrected.

I have enhanced for both and have met 4pts criteria on 2 descriptors for daily living.

But I'm due for review in November 2026, just as these pip changes come in.

Things have got worse for me since my last review in 2023, I spoke to dwp when I was forced to migrate to uc , they told me im also due a reassessment next April for my esa /uc...so reassessed at the point of change for both benefits.

To say I'm terrified is an understatement, however if I am assessed proper and fairly, I should be put into the severe category with no reassessment required. But I won't hold my breath.

I always expect the worst when it comes to the dwp and assessments.

But I will be ready , with my medical evidence.

Forgive me Jen...but I thought much if these proposals can be ushered through without much legal challenge .

I'm hoping I'm wrong on that.

The irony is that most people - regardless of ability - refuse to join the army because they know this country is not worth fighting for. Especially young people.

Why should young people fight for Britain when Britain treats them like absolute ****? Not to mention killing so many of their peers via austerity, including these cuts. Of course more young people are on benefits when they have no future.

And that's before considering Britain's foreign policy has directly caused many of the issues in the world today (Israeli apartheid, Chagos Islands dispute, Jammu & Kashmir Dispute, to name a few).

Stephen Timms said on Good Morning Britain today that a new PIP assessment will start in November 2026. This means the current points system and descriptors will no longer be used. Everyone will need to meet the new criteria, and you’ll have to fill out a new form when it’s time to renew your PIP. Here is the link to that conversation:

I wrote to reeves Kendall Timms Starmer . I told them that although they don’t care about the sick and disabled they will care about our votes in future and that they mentioning there’s over 2 million sick people well that a lot of votes they’ll ve losing. Starmer won’t care , he has no love for this country so he’ll follow Blair. But the back benchers they’re the ones . They’ve waited all this time and with Starmer will be a one time government . They’re the ones we all need to contact even if not our MP. They’re need to know we aren’t going to vote for starmer reeves Kendall rayner . Rayner was interviewed and was on our side. When Kendall was talking about saving money through cuts there was rayner agreeing.

    Thanks MW123, I wasn't aware of this.

So that's another thing to worry about. But I'd rather know.

I Wonder how many leaks to the press and deliberate scare mongering will happen in regards to the new pip criteria.

yes it’s dynamic duo uk . He’s quite good about benefits. It was in the comments before. Someone, a troll , mentioned it and the YouTuber said he saw that the out emphasise on professional carers providing washing and toilet needs. We need this clarified as if it is true no one else is talking about it . Hopefully it’s all rubbish as it has implications for carers allowance etc

Thanks secretsquirrel, i will have a look at that.

At this point it wouldn't surprise me if it is indeed true, and is then brought in as part of the new pip criteria.

It's going to be tough to get ...even for the most severely disabled and vulnerable.

    The cruelty is just incomprehensible.....

I'm trying to calm down but I can't.

I’m sure I read the descriptors won’t be changing only the 4 point rule

Bare in mind that the Tories' proposed changes to the Work Capability Assessment was pushed through without legislation but it was still found to be unlawful.

There's an old saying "why kick a lion when you can kick a cat?" it's figurative for it's easier to pick on someone who is weak, it's what bullies and cowards do but happens when that cat becomes a lion?

please don't thank me, I can't imagine what you are going through. How DARE this 'labour' goverment do this to people??

I few other things I would suggest - sorry if these aren't helpful:

Do NOT watch the news, go on Twitter, on YouTube any follow any news about this at all - I know it's all your brain can think about (mine can't switch off) but right now you absolutely have to protect your brain. I don't just mean for a day - you need to switch off re the news for the next few weeks. Nothing will change in that time period, I promise.

When I've been in absolute crisis mode, the only thing I could do was it was about getting through the next minute. Then then next five minutes. Ten. 20. Maybe a half hour or an hour. it's about getting through that minute, then that day. Forget tomorrow. Next week, month, year.

If you can try going on YouTube and watching videos on a) mediation and b) ASMR - type in ASMR for panic attacks and severe anxiety. just watch one video after the next, you don't have to look at the screen.

Is there a TV show you enjoy - watch it on repeat. A song you love. Play it right now, and again and again.

Also breathing is so important. I know it sounds dumb and obvious but it helps me in panic. One technique is you breath in through your nose slowly counting to four. Then you hold for four seconds. Then slowly exhale via your mouth and count out to five.

Another technique is 5-4-3-2-1 and involves the senses so - five things you can see, four things you can hear, three things you can feel etc (I don't think the order matters, but it's about focusing on the present moment.).

Try to get an emergency GP appointment asap and tell them everything, do you have a GP you trust? You can also take a friend, carer or family member that you trust for support

Have you contacted any HIV support services? There's the Terrence Higgins Trust, the National AIDS trust and George House Trust. If you haven't contacted any HIV or Rape support services, please consider doing so - they might well be able to help you fight with PIP.

Do you have a counsellor? (sorry for the questions - please don't feel you have to answer any) - if not ask the GP about counselling service and ask/request for a social perscriber - they can help you access support you haven't considered and can advocate for you: https://www.england.nhs.uk/personalisedcare/social-prescribing/

Depending on your finances you can get discounted counselling from various registers of counsellors who give discounted or sometimes free sessions - even if they charge, consider contacting ones that specialist in rape, and explain a bit of your situation reguarding PIP and see if they'd offer a discount.

Sorry if I'm talking rubbish and saying things that you already know. Again please, please keep contacting this forum, ring the crisis helplines as often as you need to. You can also call for paramedics on 999 - a lot are well trained in how to help people who are suicidal. You're not alone, it may feel like it, but you aren't. You matter. You deserve to be here. You deserve PIP.
