This might be of interest to those on ADP in Scotland2 -
I can see two MPs who are fairly local to me, but not my MP. They are newbies.
I'd happily bet my home on the fact they will NEVER be re-elected in those constituencies with this stance.
Still, they'll get their pension for their for however many years Labour hang on to power, so that's okay then. 🙄

Can Labour actually ban certain illnesses/disabilities from being eligible to claim PIP? I don't think so if they're under the umbrella of the Equalities Act 2010.
Any changes to benefits like Employment and Support Allowance, PIP and Universal Credit must adhere to the principles outlined in the Equality Act 2010. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I should study law in regards of disability rights, surely Mr Human Rights Lawyer Starmer knows all of this?

I expect they will try to but the thing about PIP is it has never been about which disability you have but how it affects your everyday life. No two people are the same so people with the same diagnosis can have very different experiences. Some conditions are mild and some are severe so to try and ban any condition is wrong but I do expect them to try to make the new PIP regulations so strict that it will naturally exclude many people who currently qualify for the daily living component of PIP. In my opinion it is a human rights violation and if enacted it will leave so many people not eligible for PIP or the health element of UC ( Currently called LCWRA )

They can't legally. That's not to say that they may or may not try. However, if they did try to do something like that, there would be a significant uproar not only from the public, but from their own MPs like there is already. Organisations like the UN would also be prompted to get involved as it would be a direct breach of the Human Rights Treaty. The UN are already looking at this situation if that's of any help.

Lcwra reviews. I have asked universal credit how long was my lcwra is awarded. Replied saying 16 months and said it's due to be reviewed 2025 September. How likely will I have to have a review this year?!

I think the number of individuals that will lose will be more like 2 million but the government will lie and say it is much less. The casualties of the 4 point rule will be casatrophic. Especially for people who are up for review.

With the backlogs happening and them just starting up on the WCA i would not take much notice of this review date, LCWRA has no end date however they can review at anytime.
Hopefully you are left alone, the ESA to UC transfer this year will be another delay on things i would have thought to.

its not that. there were a lot of older religious folk posting religious content to bond and cope with everything (although it sadly led to arguments which the mods deleted, it's why this thread was temporarily locked earlier). Best not to restart that convo again.
It will end badly for everyone - including this government.

I think it the 4 point receptor will have to changed , because the daily living is what allows a carer and carers allowance , so this is going to be a double whammy and will put pressure on adult social care etc to provide carers .
I hope the whole thing will be scrapped and leave us alone .

I've just read some of the green paper and honestly they are citing research from 2006 to make their arguments, this is before things like, energy price rise, cost of living, covid, and the 2008 financial austerity of 14 years.
I honestly think they've done this paper based on London which is a thriving city full of investment. The rest of the country has no jobs. Zero hours contract warehouse jobs 8 hours of heavy lifting for minimum wage is not good for health or people on disability. They have based it off of London city centre and except everyone one else to go along with it.

I think that plan has been defeated, but it feels like the powers that be are playing all their cards . In the end 'they will own nothing and we will be happy'

So basically they are saying you will be put on a 'work programme' which already exists now for jobseekers. They will make you agree to a attend work programmes which could last 1 week to a few years. And if you do not attend you know what will happen if you don't go along with it.

Im with you Catherine, I've 'hit rock bottom' too. Feeling hopeless and fearful !
The stress has flared my crohns and lupus, and i collapsed after an emergency dental appointment yesterday...ended up losing my phone.... ..I'm trying my best to be positive but the stress has nearly 'taken me out'.
