I’m sure the government have no intention of listening to us that’s why the consultation isn’t a full one . Our only hope is/was legal action. Is there nothing in law that protects us ?

@secretsquirrel1 Equality Act, Human Rights Treaty. The United Nations also frequently chime in with these changes

Watching Bbc2 politics live just showed some protestors next to Downing Street.

She's on her way to the Commons now for PMQs at midday then statement at 1230.

What has this country come to.

I don't drink but got 2 cans of cider in cupboard for visitors, but as I don't have any I'm gonna stick them in the fridge 🤨🙄😪

Feeling decidedly queezy. Although quite naturally our views differ we much remain united here, in completing the consultation, and in other activities. Reading "The I", this comment troubled me because it enables the Government to divide, rule, and rob:

"Gillian Oliver, 47, who has severe arthritis and mental health issues, receives PIP and universal credit. She told The i Paper she relies on these benefits to survive.

She said that if any benefits are cut or taken away from people in genuine need like her, it will “destroy them” as she relies on this money to survive.

“Any cuts to benefits announced in the Spring Statement will have a terrible impact and be brutal and absolutely destroy people like me,” she said.

There are a lot of people on benefits who shouldn’t be as they are capable of working, so medical professionals should definitely be tougher on them.

“But genuine people like me are going to suffer. We’re not going to be able to manage and food banks will be overwhelmed and there won’t be enough to go round.”

oh thank you 🙏 . Does this mean if/ when the law passes In parliament if it’s found to contravene the equality laws we can still take this to court or ECHR ?

The ECHR cannot directly overturn UK law, but its judgements must be taken into account by UK courts.

The main thing is to work out any legal challenges and fight in court before this can become law. This is what Scope and others are doing. So in reality, the stuff we're worrying about will have been challenged and tested in courts before it becomes law.

I truly believe starmer wants war. He is a war monger like Blair was. But starmer is actually worse.

Reading there MORE welfare cuts coming in the spring statement today. Still no word about any legal challenges to these reforms yet, hoping it will happen soon. Have read that the reforms potentially violate human rights, in which case if they go down this route the option of going to the ECHR will be available

Starmer has no idea what it’s like to have nothing and to just exist every day, no amount of poxy work coaches will change that. My spine is not suddenly going to straighten and my damaged nerves start working again, my permanently dislocated kneecaps won’t miraculously decide to start working, my osteoarthritis in every joint won’t get better. I can’t work. My future is homelessness, destitution and early death.
