No new medical assessment is required when moving between ESA and UC.

You'll receive LCWRA automatically if you were in the Support Group for ESA.

    HHi Kimi,

My statement is for 3rd March to 2nd April. Does it appear to be wrong because of the timings of my previous ESA payments (12th March, 26th March)?

    I am SO confused.

It could be because ESA haven't confirmed your award with UC yet. But you said Housing was also missing.

    Ok.

Housing missing, yes. Just says I get Standard Allowance. Nothing else at all. Total payment for the month is £393.45. There are no deductions. V v confused.

You were told case manager had several outstanding actions.

At a guess a button has now been hit generating a statement with everything the system has you confirmed as eligible for, which is standard allowance.

This is not final and will be sorted out. Other users with missing elements have had them added on and things fixed.

@Kimi87 do you know roughly how long it actually takes to get everything sorted out?

It just feels like such a mess.

Unfortunately I can't answer that question, I'm not a trained benefits advisor, just an amateur who voluntarily posts in my spare time.

Thank you Kimi. We got thru to the UC Helpline and she said it sounds like it's still been worked on and the statement has appeared prematurely. Hopefully it will be updated as they work on it.

I didnt realise that statements appeared before they were finalised. What a strange thing to do, how very very stressful of them.

Well, I just went and checked my post and guess what, there is a letter from DWP telling me I have an appointment with a work coach as I'm in CB based ESA and I'm being moved over to New Style ESA?? I was on regular ESA in the support group !!

What the actual s*ite is going on...

Off to go call and find out what on earth that is all about.

You would have been on part CB and part IR. A lot of people are only finding out when they migrate to UC.

So what does this all mean? I have a letter from DWP last year confirming that I'm in the support group (March 2024) having being moved from the WRAG.

    I'm still on hold...

Both CB & IR types have a Support Group.

Moving forward it means you'll get a New Style ESA payment every 2 weeks. And a UC payment every month. The ESA payment gets deducted from the UC payment so there's no financial gain to having both, but that's just the way it works when migrating to UC from a dual ESA claim.

I can't be dealing with a work coach and going to a job center every month.

I'm so stressed out I'm actually crying now.

I never knew I was on CB ESA, so I'm being punished for being sick because I actually worked and now have to find work.

    Still on hold..

You won't have a work coach or visit a Job Centre every month.

All that happens now is you need to confirm the commitments, which are just to say you will let them know of any changes in future.

    STILL. ON. HOLD...

I'm just very confused by the whole thing. Shouldn't any of the letters I have from the DWP say CB ESA on it?

And thank you @OverlyAnxious I'm sounding angry and stressed out, but I'm really grateful to you talking to me about this. Thank you.

Ask them to make reasonable adjustments for your situation and ask for a phone interview or home visit.

The ESA letters don't state CB or IR clearly. That's why so many people didn't realise they were on a dual claim until the migration. Even when other members upload letters on here we can't always tell!

You're welcome, I hope you get through to someone soon. 🙂

    Still on hold

Its so odd. It really is. I filled in the UC migration thing in when I received the letter..reluctantly because I knew of all the stress and all my past stress with job centers treating you like your sort of **** they've stepped in.

I've just checked my UC account online, and even in there it says I've accepted my commitments since 9th March.

The payment thing you mentioned really confused me, as I get a fortnightly payment from ESA.

Hopefully someone will pick up the phone...

Those commitments were for UC. There are separate ones for NS ESA. But they are essentially the same, just to inform them of any changes.

Old style ESA was a fortnightly payment. And you will continue to get around £276 every fortnight from New Style ESA. The rest then comes through Universal Credit once a month. There will be an equal deduction showing on your UC statement once this gets sorted out. (The deduction is not quite double because each month has slightly more than 2 fortnights in it).

Still on hold...its laugh or 😢

    I was/am receiving £318.10 a fortnight.

I know I'll have to pay back some ESA (whichever version) as I received another payment for April and that's my 3rd on since I submitted my claim in March.

I'm just stressed out with the whole thing. I can't believe people go through all this stress to scam the benefit system...I wouldn't wish having to jump through all these hoops on anyone. If only we all had enough money so we didn't need to claim benefits.
