the consultation isn’t fully open to us though . Only certain questions. Similar to the Tory paper which they lost in court

They’ve waited 14 years and with starmer their jobs are finished. They must be thinking that . It’s the fact they’re rushing this through before a proper assessment of how many people will be affected and only part of the consultation being open to us against our rights ?

I’ve emailed Jeremy Corbyn again to ask about the legality of all this . I noticed a demonstration outside my town hall last week against Emily Thornberry who seems to be for the cuts. A shame as she’s helped me in the past

Who ever thought I would be happy that I don't get additional pip money 🤦
I'm on cbesa and lcwra so I should be reassessed through the normal wca until it's abolishment in 2028 as it's only new and existing claimants of pip that are affected after November 2026
.... And I'm actually happy about that , that's how bad things are 🥺
I know when the the wca and lcwra get abolished in 2028 and then the new pip criteria takes over for the rest of us I'll probably loose everything .... Suppose I'll just have to deal with it then ....
I still can't get my head round that they are actually going to get away with this .... I'm struggling so bad , finding it very hard to find reasons to go on if I'm honest

I hope not Martin . I’m feeling very disheartened right now too . But I felt the same when PIP came in . It was a terrible time but I got through it and we can get through this . How can they leave a million people to starve ?

My gp said the dwp issued them new guidance not to provide letters of support anymore as they will not take it into account as evidence.

Hello Danny, IR ESA, severe disability element and pip. I will lose around £10,000 a year. No way I will be able to afford rent, so will be homeless. Just can’t see a way forward other than the obvious, that doesn’t scare me, in a way I will welcome it, no more pain or worry. I wouldn’t be able to survive on the streets, can’t walk more than a couple of metres even with a frame so I’m done for.

Jesus , see this is why I cannot see how this can pass , it's literally leaving people desperate....if your on ir ESA and serve premium then you will move straight into UC lcwra , I think 🤔.... That means that you wouldn't loose everything by mid 2027 , you would probably go through the new pip criteria for your pip but lcwra will be reassessed under normal wca until scrapped so probably mid 2028 , so if you were not successful with your pip you may still get reassessed for lcwra just before the cut of scrapping wca and pass , that could take you to 2030 if lucky .... Maybe by then they will see that their plans are completely out of touch and have to change them especially with an election .... Thing is by then there will be another election and I can only see a reform government getting in and they will be just as vile

Has anyone ever thought that maybe Labour are sending threats to any lawyers that could declare these cuts unlawful? I mean serious threats. This is how low starmer and Rachel theives would go.

I get full pip though not 4 points but now I will appeal next time if needed. I’m on legacy esa and just received my migration letter .

Oh ok .... So you and Martin are sort of in the same boat as me then .... Your pip claim will be affected by the new criteria if you get reassessed after Nov 2026 , but your ESA ( soon to be lcwra after migration ) will carry on getting reassessed through the wca , so you should keep getting reassessed normally for that until 2028 ( that's how I understand it anyway ) and if you were lucky enough to get reassessed just before the wca gets scrapped it could take you up too around 2030 🤷 maybe by that time they will see the harm it has caused , which it certainly will and then they may be forced into changes .... It really is all ifs and buts isn't it , that what makes it so worrying at the moment, we live in hope 😌

My pip review forms due any time now as it’s up early next year . But this time I’ll appeal if I don’t get a 4 point as I get highest but now wouldn’t be eligible which is ridiculous. My worry is face to face assessments as I have invisible conditions and tbh I can’t make plans to go places as I’m too fatigued and in pain. ESA , I haven’t had an assessment in about 7 years . At first they assessed me every 11 months then stopped. I spoke to UC the other day and mentioned a YouTube video where it was said dwp will assess everyone before the 2026 pip change . I said how are you going to achieve that? She said please don’t watch these videos as I’ve had these calls constantly with ppl worrying and we have no plans to reassess everyone and don’t even have enough staff .

Hi, thank you for you very encouraging words, unfortunately the lady from the grant department had to cancel , but she is coming next Tuesday, I'm okay with this as it gives us time to pack some things into some containers we bought , so she can see more of the damage. I've sent the dwp evidence of my to health conditions and my gynaecologist mentions one of the issues that I have which is nerve damage from the surgery , oh and the occupational therapist report so fingers crossed it is enough .
We're going out tomorrow , our son is picking us up in his new car and we are going to the seaside , also get to spend time with my 2 year old grandson , you're right that focussing on the things we can control helps .
I really hope we get the grant because it means a low level shower a stair lift and new floors and electrics . That sure will raise my vibration .

Brilliant post - thank you! Some real hope for us all, even if this travesty is made law.
These proposals undoubtedly pose human rights violations, like someone with learning difficulties who can no longer pay to employ a carer so isn't capable of going shopping for food.
There could be somebody with severe mental health problems who loses everything, through the benefit cuts and is so distraught that they can't cope with applying for discretionary housing payments so therefore becomes homeless.
Or even someone who has ME/CFS who cannot go to medical appointments as they cannot access public transport and can't afford a taxi.
We could all think of numerous examples and it is unlawful for the government to remove benefits that disabled people are entitled to which puts them in that position.
That means that we must not lose hope and keep challenging them. There will be so many going into the system in a short space of time that the situation will be very obvious anyway, I'm afraid.
However this situation will be very discouraging to us all and it will be very difficult and time consuming for the courts to sort out.
However, there is such a good case for it. The government just can't treat disabled people like fit and healthy jobseekers and expect them to be capable of looking for work, when they have taken away their extra support, which helps them to function better, although not as well, if often nowhere near as well as the job seekers do!!
We must not think that the government, if they succeed in pushing this through have won and can no longer be challenged.
That is exactly what they want us to think! That is something that we should not accept, under any circumstances.
