hello
Our Universal credit has changed again can someone help me understand it please
What should it show for 2 carers allowance section on our claim 11th June payment ? Mine says £403.36 but then the deduction for both of us is £360.97 each
The amount for a couple in our may 11th payment was £617.60 & in our 11th June it’s now £628.10.
Thank you for your kindness & help

Also our transitional payment last month 11/5/25 went down to £334.43 this month 11/6/25 it’s £303.23. Is this correct ? Thank you.

Hi,
This is because the rates changed in April. But UC is calculated in full Assessment Periods. So you don't see the new rates until May.
The UC elements increased, so your TP decreased. It will erode each time the other elements increase.
The reason your overall payment is less is because more now comes from Carers Allowance. You haven't lost that money, it's just getting paid with Carers Allowance instead of UC.

Thank you, so will this be our payment from now on until next year or if something drastic happens?

Yes, your payment should stay the same now until the rates increase next April.
TP will also be eroded if your rent goes up at any time.

What’s eroded sorry?

TP gets 'eroded' like cliffs at the seaside. That's the official UC term for this process.
It just means that whatever amount your UC elements go up by, the TP will go down by the exact same amount.
The erosion continues each year until you have no TP left at all. After that, you'll start to get the increases each April again with everyone else.
Slightly more complicated for rent in this case because yours goes directly to the landlord. So your own UC payment will go down when more rent money goes to the landlord after a rent increase.

Thank you, I understand now. I was worried our money had gone down esp when you see the difference like my statement but I understand how it works now thanks to your explanation.

Hi all
Did my UC migration by phone. The lady whilst lovely could barely understand me and I had to spell almost everything letter by letter. I am now getting multiple text messages to call saying there is a problem. Every time I call it’s because she has entered one detail or another incorrectly. The first thing they say is that I may not be paid as there is a discrepancy in my information. I have explained the initial problem including Mmmmm and asked for them to listen back to the call to see the issue and for someone to check my whole form again but they won’t. The stress of the continual texts and the inferences that ‘I’ have not provided the correct information is making me unwell. They speak to you like a child and as if you are simple, it’s absolutely awful and I cannot cope with this long term. I cannot help my disabilities which are many, I’m not what they would class as a benefit scrounged I worked from 13 years old till I had spinal surgeries and was left with disabilities at 50 … many of us don’t deserve to treated so awfully and made to feel unwell.
Also, I had to do an identity check by phone and realised that as soon as you apply for UC they access your bank accounts, which they are only supposed to do in the event of possible fraud checks.
This whole new system is abhorrent and wrong.0
