Hi all hope you are well?
My husband recieved a letter for our son as he is appointee for his WCA it’s on the 24th December in the morning via telephone 😕
What things does he need to have by him? His appointee is the one who speaks on the phone but our son will be sitting next to appointee is that correct?
We will ring the number provided to ask for it to be recorded by them as it says on his letter to ring number provided if we want it to be recorded which we feel would be best.
Is there anything we need to do before then?
Thank you for all your support so far.0 -
When I did my daughter's WCA on her behalf she didn't need to be sat next to me, it was a telephone assessment.
They asked me questions about her health condition and wanted to know what a typical day was like for her. Try not to answer any of the questions with just a yes or no and try to give as much detail as possible.
If you kept a copy of the form have a read of that before the assessment. They may not ring on time either so please be aware of that.
I didn't ask for hers to be recorded but some do. Please be aware that if the assessor doesn't want to be recorded they may have to cancel the appointment for another time. If this happens you'll be sent another appointment in the post.

I have copied everything we sent to them so my husband (sons appointee) will read it before hand.
Thank you Poppy that’s most helpful.
How are you ? 😊1 -
I'm not too bad thank you. How about yourself?

Glad you are not too bad Poppy, I’m not bad myself, a little stressed with normal things then Christmas upon us all of sudden it feels like and that brings more anxiety and stress.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to me, I appreciate it a lot.1 -
Thank you. That's good to hear. Yes, this time of year can be stressful for many people. As always, you're welcome and I know you appreciate it. 😊
Please do come back and let me know the outcome of the WCA for your son, if you don't mind please.

I have another question sorry.
My son’s fit note runs out on the 31/12/24, will I need to renew it, if WCA is on 24/12/24? Thank you.0 -
If a decision hasn't been made by 31st Dec then yes you will need to provide another fit note.

Ok thank you.

My doctors is closed on the first of Jan 2025 and the receptionist just said that if request fit note for my son on the 2nd it can be back dated to cover him?! But I’m worried it won’t ?!

Can you request it before it ends so that it can be done in time for 31st, that's New years Eve so they should be open?
The problem with backdating the fit note is when it comes to working out when the extra money is paid from if he's found to have LCWRA is they don't usually accept that fit note being backdated.

I can request one on the 31st but the receptionist said the doctor cannot do it from the 1st, but I asked can’t the doctor do it from 31st for another 3 months? She said not really but you can try 🤷🏻♀️ its now stressing me out

Can you see If you can request it on 30th? The problem you have here is that his assessment is Xmas Eve and because they will be closed for Christmas after that his decision will be delayed. I've know WCA decisions to be made very quickly, as in within a week but with the closing days it may take longer.

I will try on the 30th but then the GP can only do it from the 30th & old one runs out on 31st so will it be ok?

I dunno why the GP chose such an annoying date 🤦🏻♀️

Yes from 30th is fine. I agree it’s an annoying date. I don’t know why they couldn’t just do one for a longer period of time.

Our GP said they are only allowed to do 3 months at a time, I’ll try on the 30th , thank you Poppy.
