How is your day going?

Bees? This late in the year, that is perhaps uncommon but also really nice. We've had honeysuckle blooming until quite recently, but no bees at the moment.
For me, this is more the time of year of the geese starting their migration. But I've already seen them going in the presumably wrong direction, making me wonder if they were flying to the airport hoping to catch a plane to a sunny destination…

I’ve just pulled a whiskey barrel planter from the cupboard and it started to fall apart 🤬 due to me being a plonker and bringing them inside a hot and cold flat it’s dried it out. Have it some gentle taps with a hammer and then leathered it with some quick drying varnish, hopefully it will persuade the wood to swell and close the gaps to the rings. Only issue I have now is I feel like I’m having hot flushes due to just doing that! Must be my age, fine vintage of 1983. Going to be fun using cardboard as a sled to get them down the stairs with me on the stairlift 😆 just hope for a clear day Sunday and I can get them filled up for the Winter.

Oh no. I hope you can fix it. Wood misbehave in different ways with the weather and humidity. The floor of my kitchen has gaps because the wood shrank.
I am now back home. But my mood is not great. Weather is not good. So I will stay at home.

I’ve put a thick layer of clear varnish on it, I’m going to dig some picture nails out of the wall and tack a few under the affected rings to support them. Hopefully the varnish will have acted as a binding agent alongside swelling the wood to support the rings

Good for you, getting one step done in the process! But then again, you are of course a very fine vintage of 1983 :)
Tomorrow is another day, or the next, right? No hurry.

We have some ivy in our garden that's flowering and before the cold snap it was absolutely covered in bees still. Even saw some bumble bees about. They've all disappeared since the temperature dropped though.

Going out with Gus shortly, he won't take kindly to me telling him to stay in the warm. I will be wearing my 'Selk Bag' complete with boottees.

It does help to see people I know. Next week I have a session I am leading and that is really out of my comfort zone but I will get help if it gets too overwhelming. I think my mental health will worsen if I am staying at home. But it is bad today. I am so scared about the future.

A while ago, I listened to a guided meditation by Martha Beck about anxiety and it was very gentle. I especially like what she said about us being human, not broken. And that you get to feel what you feel.
Admittedly, it doesn't always feel like that to me in the current world we live in. But hey, life is messy and so am I. So yeah, I get to feel what I feel, right?
