I have just been told I'm no longer eligible for PIP, it seems to me that it is increasingly difficult to keep PIP. I never got PIP for depression as I tend to cope with it and manage to just keep it kind of hidden. It's a hidden depression that I experience within. I'm sure it affects my day to day, I know that it does. For depression to be classified as a disability I was reading earlier, it must significantly impact your day to day living so much so that there might be a need for a carer to help one cope with it. I probably kick myself in the teeth when it comes to expressing any depressive disability, it's kind of masked by my not being able to work due to heart failure, which is another hidden disability I experience. I do not like to claim these disabilities as part of my being as such and thus I tend to distance myself from claiming it as 'mine'. I avoid saying things like 'I have disabilities' in favour of saying 'I experience disabilities'. It might seem like a small thing but to me it is an important way of coping. Unfortunately, this kind of coping, cost me the PIP I was receiving because of the heart failure. Any way. @Strawberry1 You can get PIP for depression if it is significant enough and generally persistent. ! You might consider asking organisations such as Benefit Answers or getting help to fill out the PIP claim form from CIL 'Center for Integrated Living' I think it's called. There are people who can help. I'm tired of fighting the benefit system and am trying to raise up my spirits and find a new way of living with disabilities. That is why I joined the Scope Community today.

Welcome @micronicle , they are definately making things more difficult for people who are trying to claim
Ive just been turned down too .
I got mine for mental health and mobility .
I mask my depression alot too
What people in the real world see is not me in the home
Alot of people mask I think .
So sorry to hear of your heart failure
Are you getting treatment for that

I will look into those you have suggested @micronicle .
Thank you for your help .
I myself feel like you about fighting but i dont have a support worker and i dont have my autism diagnosis yet
Ive been diagnosed with adhd
And i do have depression and anxiety .
Glad you joined the forum

A shelf or a cupboard or a sink is how I start. One thing at a time.

Strawberry, I don't know whether you already had a PIP award but definitely appeal, perhaps after your autism assessment. Your heart conditions are disabling enough to warrant your claim.

I'm surprised to hear @Strawberry1 hasn't been awarded PIP for her heart trouble. I have a near neighbour in my wee street, who claims it for a 'bad back', and as i have said before, they leap up out of that Motability car like fleeing from the scene of a crime.
I know about the back, because they will tell anyone who can't get away quick enough.
