Beautiful dress @StarryEyed! Your hair also looks really good too, it suits you so muchπ
1 -
Yeah, you belong on a Catwalk in Milan or somewhere @StarryEyed
1 -
Thank you all for your compliments!! It's so difficult for me to feel pretty when sick, but then it's even harder to feel pretty if I don't put in the effort. Like anyone, of course. Catwalk??? ππππ€£
Yes, @Santosha12, the UK sizes are two sizes more than the North American sizes (Canadian and US sizes). So a size 4 UK is a size 2. That's tiny. I'm build like my Swedish side, so that will never be my size. Like, ever! π
Here are my two favourite car boot purchases from Norwich - a metal and leather coaster set for Β£1, and a little handmade plate for Β£1...
1 -
Oh they're lovely I had similar coasters. Must take a photo of my amber and my cape which I love !
0 -
Yes, please send pics!!!
I get so confused about dress sizes as they're different here in Spain too. Here we go...

When I'm buying my cosplay costumes, I usually have to buy XXL myself (I wouldn't mind but I'm only 5'5", just big in other ways unfortunately)
0 -
Yeah, like an XXL heart. π I've shrunk half an inch over the years, but I'm a full 3 inches taller than you, so I'm at the other end of the height spectrum.
So I picked out a purse and hair decoration for the wedding outfit. They're coming on Tuesday! Can't wait! I'm not too keen on hair decorations like this, but they're very popular here.

They are lovely @StarryEyed they will go well with your dress.
Have you sorted what shoes you will wear to complete your outfit?
Take care.

Love the fascinator @StarryEyed, I know what you mean but they're also 'easier' than hats (especially when they've a band like this one, rather than combs or hairclips which I found less stable with fine hair!) and what a great choice of bag/colour - very elegant. I remember reading once that hats/hair accessories should match the colour of clothing, I've made a couple of 'faux pas' in that respect when younger but not the end of the world/didnβt take it too seriously π€£. That is a great match though with your dress.
I'Il take a few photos once the dogs are up and I can put the lights on π« π.

Your fascinator and bag look very stylish.

Hi @Starryeyed, a few photos for you...... I love my handbag the most, Mangameli an Italian bag, classic workmanship, that saw many outings in my heyday π. It might be from the '60's but I bought it in the early 1990's. It's going with me when I pass with photos in it π . My sisters used to joke that you're like the Queen with a handbag (old fashioned) but I loved them or anything vintage. It's just me that's vintage now ha ha.
The sheepskin coat I love but don't tend to like wearing coats now, too restrictive with my walking stick and hand problems/fastenings. I might give it to a charity shop, I paid c Β£15.00.
My 'Red London' Cape, I love, very easy to wear, comfortable and swishes easily with my stick ππ¬π .
Lastly, my amber necklace. I love it but don't go anywhere to where it now. So just look at it now and then, would struggle to fasten it now too.
I'll post a couple of phot
os in a little while of
hair rollers.......

Hi @Starryeyed, this is a photo of my different hair curlers.....
The 'Clairol Lock 'n Roll' are brilliant. You just wrap your hair around them, so easy, I've had them for 20+ years and gives lovely soft waves. There's 24 bigger rolls and 4 small red ones the latter especially good for shorter hair/layers. I can't use them now because of my hands/fingers but definitely got my moneys worth!!
The 'pin'. . Omg my dad used to put these in my hair as a kid (forgot to photo it π, I'll do that in a second). At least 55 years old π€£. I've only got the one left but so easy to shove it in 'fringe' and gives a nice soft wave.
The black big roller I use now occasionally, I've only got four but they don't need pins or anything they just stay in place, a bit like velcro but I don't think they're exactly that.
What's good is they all produce just soft waves/curls depending how long left in. I'll photo the pin now π

@StarryEyed this is my hair 'pin' it looks c 100 years old... probably is π€£π.
I loved using all of these as I couldn't be doing with the time and 'faff' of styling it myself with brushes etc. You can just leave them in to do their magic β¨οΈ Just thought it might give you some ideas, my hair is naturally very straight too; some of us (me ππ) just want the opposite to what we've got. Like I'd quite like to be 5ft 5" but at 5ft nothing, that's not going to happen ha ha.
IF you wanted the Clairol set, I don't know if Scope would allow it but I'd send them to them for them to send on to you, along with the right postage of course. But it's ok too if they're not your thing. I've never seen them in charity shops but then I've not been looking for them. I suppose I could give them to a charity shop when I can go.
Well, I think that's it as far as hair is concerned π . Got delayed posting as muttlets had their poached egg on toast this morning and Snicket was spitting his toast out after c
hanging from Anchor bu
tter to Country Life as it's cheaper. He came round in the end when he saw the others ganneting his share π€£π.
PS didn't think you could get the Clairol set now but on ebay c Β£7 to Β£32. I might look for more of the pins!

Can you fly with the cape though? LOL!

Hi @Bluebell21 and thank you! Hopefully they match, but I bought them online, so the colours may be different. Fingers crossed for tomorrow when they arrive. Yes, I have three possible pairs of shoes in mind, all of them flats. I wouldn't have been caught dead in flat shoes with any dress or skirt in the past, but I just can't wear heels anymore, so I don't wear dresses or skirts anymore, which is part of why I feel so yucky. The dress is floor length, so the shoes won't show much hopefully.
Thank you @luvpink. I didn't know that term, fascinator. Love it!
Yes, @SheffieldMan1976 I actually found two of my capes that are a strong possibility and actually work for flying. Imagine that! So if all goes rotten, I can just smile and fly off. Ah, the joys of being a superhero.
@Santosha12 what a delightful collection you have! Thank you so much for taking the time to post the pics. Wow. That amber pendant is absolutely stunning. The workmanship in the silver is amazing. When my Mom and I reunited a few years ago, she gave me a ton of silver jewellery that is stunning. She can't wear much jewellery anymore because she's on blood thinners. Before that, I really had virtually nothing of value. I'll pick out the nicest pieces and post them.
The handbag is stunning. I can't use them anymore because they won't stay put using my mobility devices. Yeah, just another reason to feel yucky. Boo-hoo.
As a Canadian, I of course adore coats. But I can't wear them here because it's too hot. Some would think woe is you, but it really is something I miss. Love your cape! I bought a secondhand one last year that is awesome on all my mobility devices. YAY that you can still use yours. The cape swish? LOL, yeah it's amazing! Or would you call it a swoosh? Or may a swish swoosh?
You're so very generous to offer to send your curlers. This morning bought a really cool styling brush today similar to the one the hairdresser used last week to style my hair. It was only 5 pounds!! Here it isβ¦.
I coloured my hair yesterday and it's perfect. Tomorrow I'll try to style it with this brush. Fingers crossed!
Thanks all for your encouragement. This is actually more fun than stress at this point.

Hi @StarryEyed I do not wear heels very often now either. Flats are more comfortable and easier to walk in.
Wearing a long dress means your feet will not show.
I hope you have a lovely time at this wedding.
Take care.

Thanks for your well wishes @Bluebell21 ππΌ So do you feel the same about heels? To me, flats ruin a dress or skirt. Even pants look better in heels IMO. Also, I don't feel as feminine in flats. Yes, they're more comfortable. Mind you, I can barely even walk in flats (heels are now impossible). Another thing is I'll be taking my walker, so that's neither feminine or festive. Yes, I know, I know, I should be grateful to have what I have. And I am, but my heart is big enough that I can also feel sad at the same time. Like for all of us on Planet Earth - life is bittersweet.
The most important aspect of the wedding is of course the wedding itself. I'm just using the occasion to see if I can rise to the occasion of feeling pretty, of finding my new sea legs, so to speak, in this newly disabled body. I would love to feel as proud of the New Me on the outside as I am on the inside.

Hi @StarryEyed I love heels I always have. It was such a big deal when I got my first pair, although I had to learn how to walk in them. I think we are almost conditioned to feel more feminine in them. I remember even as a little girl if my mother left her shoes out I would step into them (far too big) and 'clomp' about thinking I was very grown up.
I do still wear low heels when I go to a special "do" but the rest of the time I wear flats.
At the end of the day I do not need a pair of shoes to define myself. You can get some fancy flat shoes with flowers or glitter on them.
With your new dress, accessories and lovely new hair style you will look stunning. No one will notice your shoes.
Could you perhaps jazz your walker up a bit with flowers, glitter, stickers or beads or anything else you can think of. It is now part of your new life. Be proud of yourself, hold your head high and enjoy the wedding. You are still you.
Look forward to seeing you in your wedding outfit if you would like to share a photo.
Take care.
