Can you write a poem?.
can you write a poem?
It does not have to rhyme, and can be about anything, in this case they talked about Autumn, so as a pre first post ( for me )
this is my contribution.
Grammer and corrections at writers discression......... HA.
Come on all you writers have a go, good way to introduce your self?

I write but not poetry I mean I could give it a go but it's not my hearts desire
-
My ability to write poetry
Is a matter of notoriety
My ability with the quill
Is to many a pile of swill.
My family know I try
And is the reason they usually cry
Often they send me to bed
Or off it will be with my head.
So if you don't mind
I will be kind
And shun such an attempt
To avoid your contempt. As an individual I stood alone.
As a member of a group I did things.
As part of a community I helped to create change! -
I'm glad to see that people, are writing now on here
their people who think that it takes skill, and probably a glass of beer.
I find that when I look at something, my brain goes into a blurr.
since I certainly don't know what is going to occur.
I can't write like Shakespear, and earn a few extra bob,
or sing like Paverotti in French, Italian or German.
But if I get one person, to burst into a verse
the post has been worth it, like Geoark or Sandy_123 a start to just converse.
So now I think I'll leave you,
to contemplate your next post,
and hope its helped you realise
its a stress release, and can be restful, just to give in to just one more post.

'Where were you Da?'
Where were you when I was born
On the month of December
One cold grey morn
Did you see my first tooth
Or my first wobbly step
Was I ever really known
As Daddy's little pet?
Where were you when I turned one
And my Mother bore you
A baby Son
We were all born at Christmas time
You, my Brother and I
But where we ever the apple
Of our Fathers eye?
Where were you when my Brother got in a fight
The Teacher calling him a bold little Laddie
And I tried to read that look on her face
Which said 'Pity..he dont have a Daddy.'
Where were you when I walked down the aisle
I wasnt gona let it ruin my day
But there was a moment..when the Minister said 'Who gives this woman?'
That my imagination..it started to play.
Where were you when I held my first Son
On this occassion I wud'nt be sad
But I cud'nt help wondering if you wuda made better Grandad
Than you ever were a 'Dad'.
Unbeknown to me..I named 3 of my kids
Out of all the names that are listed
I gave them the same name as my half siblings
When I never even knew they existed!
I saw you again when we buried your Brother
Who lived beside us all his life
And I do believe you knew who we were
As you sat beside your new wife.
The Minister said he would like to thank-you ..and your Family for being here
And I wanted to shout. 'THATS US!'
But all the shouting was in my head
And I knew I'd never ever make a fuss.
(Wrote this years ago @onebigvoice...and to this day..Iv never finished it)
@Sandy_123.. @woodbine @Globster another wee one I wrote -
These are the lyrics to a song I wrote once, hence it has a chorus, Hope I’m not cheating ?
I sat and watched you as you
walked on the river bank you said
you were fishing for dreams I said
aren't we all it seems that
too many people in life aren't
sure where they belong they find
no rest at night
they go crazy all day
Chorus
but you’ve got to believe in something
even if it seems hard you know
you've got to believe in something
it'll sure make your heartaches go you know
You’ll find that, in time that
things will be so much better if you
Start caring, start sharing,
things will be so much better if you
live and love in harmony
well I suppose you’re right she said,
even when I don’t have woes I find
i make a few up just to
get myself down and I know
i can see silver arriving with the
coming of the rain clouds and I
I could be happy if I was
was so inclined
chorus.“This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness.”
― Dalai Lama XIV -
@leeCal...enjoyed reading this..
-
Thanks @Justcheckingin15 ? I liked yours too
i tried to write lyrics which flowed but didn’t necessarily rhyme, it’s probably better as a song to be honest.“This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness.”
― Dalai Lama XIV -
@leeCal..Mine was factual unfortunately..
-
That’s sad, sorry @Justcheckingin15

@Sandy_123, Its when I'm most inspired...Its at weird times..usually in bed if I'm having trouble sleeping. ?
-
Best times, I always write in bed propped on confy pillows TV in back ground.
-
@Sandy_123..instead of counting sheep some nights...I count words lol
-
Yeah its better then staring at a ceiling. Your writing is good. You definitely have talent
-
Ahh...thank you @Sandy_123.?
-
Your welcome ive wrote a poem, I did it in 30 minutes and like I say I'm not a poet. Also I take kind to critism
-
The air bringing coldness to my face,
I lift my scalf up and quicken my pace.
Crunching, crackling, under my feet,
I dread what is lurking beneath the leaf.
Slippy, sliding and watching my tred,
For I would try to avoid a bumped head.
The wind is high and blowing a gale,
Catching my breath as I try to inhale.
I squint my eyes as leaves hurl towards me,
forced by nature to depart the tree.
Orange,brown, yellow, green and red,
Are the colours that have been shred.
Fetching out the brightness all around,
Laying like a blanket on the ground.
The noises behind me make me fear,
Rustling, whispering, shuffling I hear.
I stop and listen quickly turn around,
For I have no fret just Autumn sound.
