Hi @cupcake88 - i hope you managed OK with your nurse this afternoon. Try & take these things as a positive; if you need vitamin B12 injections, & you've developed type 2 diabetes, then far better to know, & get things sorted. It's good your medical team tested, & found out. They're looking after you, & you need to do that too. My son-in-law found a difference when he started vit.B12 injections, & I'm sure you will too. Love & hugs, xx

Hi @cupcake88 - I'm not too bad, thank you. Whatever you do, you need to keep yourself safe. Please know I would never give you any wrongful information. I don't know if the Scope team will feel I'm giving you medical information, but I don't care; you are what matters to me. Despite what has been said above that it's hoped vitamin B12 injections may help physically, they can & do also help mentally.
My son-in-law needed them following gastric by pass surgery. He also suffered from depression & the vitamin B12 injections helped him; they can & do help with low mood.
Now, as you see, your friends on this forum are here. I do just so wish I could give you an actual hug too. Know we are here for you; I need to know you're safe, if you can.
I don't know how much I can say that your life is so very precious, first & foremost to your partner. You also matter so much on the forum. I'll not give up on you with my thoughts & prayers; don't give up on us as you mean so much, xx

This is a simplistic view, as Injections of vitamin B12 can also help with low mood/depression. Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause such symptoms without concomitant anaemia. Please see: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vitamin-b12-or-folate-deficiency-anaemia/  Please only comment if your reply is relevant to the poster's situation, thank you. They have not said they feel 'tired or weak.'

Hi there are no dates on here so don't know if your situation has resolved but if you want to make a complaint and request another nurse it is your rite. there is a complaints procedure on every trusts website. You can put your experience on there along with how unsafe you felt after your interaction with nurse ratchett🤗🦄

    Hi @cupcake88

Thank you for responding, I'm sorry to hear that you still feel really low, but I'm glad to see the number of friendly responses you have received on here, do always remember that you have the full support of all of us.

Do you have an expectation as to when the crisis team will be giving you a call? Hopefully that will be soon, but if you do continue to feel suicidal please contact 999 or attend your nearest hospital as you suggest. Additionally, I know you will be familiar with us mentioning these details by now but I just want to reiterate Samaritans, who you can contact on 116 123 or by emailing jo@samaritans.org, and the Shout service which you can access by texting "Shout" to 85258.

I will also be in touch via PM on the community, apologies that you didn't receive our email.

Just to follow up on the conversation above around B12, I do hope that the injections help to improve things for you cupcake88, and I would echo what has been said above that it is a positive that your GP has been able to identify and provide treatment for those things.

For clarification, symptoms of a B12 deficiency can be depression and low mood, the NHS resource shared above about B12 deficiency anaemia by @chiarieds mentions the below:
"Vitamin B12 and folate perform several important functions in the body, including keeping the nervous system healthy.

A deficiency in either of these vitamins can cause a wide range of problems, including:

    • extreme tiredness
    • a lack of energy
    • pins and needles (paraesthesia)
    • a sore and red tongue
    • mouth ulcers
    • muscle weakness
    • disturbed vision
    • psychological problems, which may include depression and confusion
    • problems with memory, understanding and judgement

Some of these problems can also happen if you have a deficiency in vitamin B12 or folate but do not have anaemia."

Hi @lisathomas50, thank you for your replies. Iron deficiency anaemia is separate to this, I appreciate it can be a confusing subject to navigate so I just wanted to share the below NHS resource, which is linked to via the B12 deficiency page shared earlier:

"There are several different types of anaemia and each one has a different cause.

For example, iron deficiency anaemia happens when the body does not contain enough iron."

I have a B12 deficiency and have the injections every 3 months and have had them for the past 7 years. Iron deficiency is completely different to B12. Please make sure you're not presenting opinion as fact.

@cupcake88 i'm so sorry to hear things are not going well for you at the moment. Once you have treatment for the B12 you will hopefully feel a little better in yourself because it can make you feel quite dreadful. I know when i'm due to have mine i always feel worse than i normally do. My pain levels increase through the roof and always feel more tired than usual.

You are a very strong person and have been through such a lot. I have some new pictures of my grandson, i'll dig them out and send them to you sometime tomorrow, i know they always make you smile.

    Gentle hugs my friend! xx

I’m not the one that needs to check my information but thanks for the advice. I know exactly what conditions I have and the treatment I’m given.
Please reads the NHS links that have been posted.

As has been mentioned above by Ross from the link I gave, there are different types of anaemia, but comments about your pernicious anaemia however are not relevant to this thread.

I totally agree but presenting opinions as fact is wrong. The NHS link was posted previously but ignored.

Thanks for all your kind words and help . Just been in a n e for hours as I took another over dose. I’m ok tho every one I’m back home and resting well. I’m gonna make another complaint bout my new nurse because all week I have been waiting for them to do more for me and I get told some rubbish by her I also get told off for either calling the crisis team or for what I have said to them when she reads my notes.

If they were doing there job properly I wouldn’t end up in hospital constantly . My requesting a new care co isn’t being listened too So I’m going to put it in writing .

I won’t be answering her calls or let her in any more so there gonna have to find some one new for me . It’s a different nurse that does my injection so I’ll be seeing that nurse only .
