Aren't you all lucky?! 😂🎃

I love Halloween. I always felt a kinship to the day. I also love a 'jumpy' horror film, and more tend to be made to be released this time of year!

I have put together quite a few posts for the season. I’ll list them down below as they are posted in case anyone new to the community comes across this post first.

But I want to know:

  • Do you celebrate Halloween?
  • Are you excited for it?
  • Has your opinion of Halloween changed over the years?

I love Halloween, i used to decorate the front of the house every year, but my illness stops me now, love the whole season, spooky movies, bring it on!

I celebrate both Halloween in its current form and Samhain for it's older spiritual roots.

yes I flipping LOVE it and get way too excited about it.  Like grinchy, I cant really decorate the house much, but I can gently persuade sis that she should really put up the spiderwebs each year. I was well known in my old neighbourhood for *really* giving the trick or treaters a scare by getting dressed up each year. It was great fun.

I love that it's been getting more popular over the years, as it means I can make silly spooky things easier and it gives people something to look forward to.  Which these days I think is very important.

No Halloween celebrations here, I think it could be to do with fireworks, I don't like them, it's all too close together.

    It's a kids thing, really.

@Grinchy Any spooky movies you are looking forward to watch?

@Albus_Scope Thank you, I now have songs from the Beetlejuice musical in my head :D

@rebel11 I like Fireworks but think they should only be allowed at big group events and on certain days like Bonfire Night and New Years.

@Sandy_123 We will have to throw a community party! <3

    @Hannah_Scope

Agree 100%, Professional Big Group Events, I live near a park, a couple years ago some people let off fireworks, they were being let off 'horizontally', they were 'ducking and diving', went on for 45 minutes. So dangerous.

That is so dangerous! And there are always a few situations where it's kids and you think, how'd they get them?!

I was talking to a colleague about it @rebel11 My family pop round to the local Scout Hut as my brother attended there. They do a big displays. I think places like that would be great too. The kids in the troupe can learn and earn their badges and it has a more community feeling  :)

I'm thinking it's time to look at the TK Maxx website for Halloween goodies.  Or at least steal their ideas and make my own things. :)

Sounds like a good plan, @Albus_Scope! I made a big plushy spider one year for a display at my previous job. Her name was Matilda. I'm so sad I lost the photos of when she was finished and out on display otherwise I'd dig them out.

I like Halloween but I've never got too involved with it at home beyond watching a few films and carving a silly looking pumpkin each year.

I love watching some of the more comedy or action movies though like Hocus Pocus, Little Shop of Horrors, The Addams Family and Death Becomes Her. Maybe they're not strictly Halloween, but spooky vibes! Any more I should add to the list?

Now comes the tough question, would Nightmare Before Christmas be a Halloween film, or an Xmas film?

(either way @Rosie_Scope it should definitely be on your watch list.)

@Albus_Scope Have a look on Hobbycraft too! :)

@Rosie_Scope Awww and Matilda is such a good name! There are so many films, the new Haunted Mansion film is on Disney+ this Wednesday I believe?

I think the Nightmare Before Christmas is the perfect transition film to watch on Halloween going into November 1st <3

Agreed @Hannah_Scope, definitely think A Nightmare Before Christmas is a transition film. Adding Haunted Mansion to my list!

The older version has Eddie Murphy, which is already on there if you haven't seen it. The new one does look really good! :)
