Do I need to have ID? UC Managed Migration
Comments
-
The ID verification is different to accepting commitments. Everyone has to do both for UC, regardless of migrating. Some people may be able to do both in one appointment, others won't.
Your ID can't be accepted online (because you don't have the necessary types) so you will have to verify that at a home visit if you can't get to the Job Centre. There is also the option of a biographical phone call if you can't manage a home visit, though they seem reluctant to do that now, as they prefer to 'see' the claimant. There are multiple ways to verify ID, so none of that information is wrong so far.
You will have to accept commitments at another appointment. Ideally that one is done after ESA confirm that you were in Support Group, so you won't have any hassle around work search requirements. It is possible to accept commitments online if you can't get to the Job Centre. I did it that way myself. Literally just clicked a box in the journal, that part was very easy.

Thanks for explaining @OverlyAnxious that's made me feel a little less anxious.
Would you suggest my son calls them about it with it being 7 days tomorrow or should we wait a bit longer? He doesn't like using the phone much either.
Thanks again.

No problem. I think I'd leave it another few days personally, though if one of you can call then there's no harm in doing that.
The helpline isn't open over weekends so you would have to do it by Friday evening if that'll save worrying about it over the weekend.

Thank you, we'll wait until Friday :)

Sometimes it takes longer than others to hear from them about your first appointment. Some can be waiting a couple of weeks before they hear something.

Ok thank you Poppy, it's just a little worrying and making my anxiety worse.

It would appear that my journal notes were ignored, I requested a home visit twice and was booked an appointment to attend the JCP, I left another note and my son called them, the man checked and was confused as to why the person had ignored the journal notes, he said he would push a request through for an home visit with a woman for me and that I wouldn't get into any trouble if I don't attend the appointment on Monday.
Also, is it ok for me to download my bank bank statement and print it out? It says all documents must be originals but my bills and bank are all paperless, including my council tax.

Another update, so I checked my journal again, the appointment was cancelled and a lady responded to my message and said
"we will look into booking you a home visit. please be aware that due to the number of home visits being requested, the wait can be up too 8 weeks. I will book you a phone appointment called a BIO. if you pass that then you won't need a home visit but we will explain this at the phone appointment. please be available to take the call when its booked. regards."
I now have a bio appointment booked for tomorrow morning at 9:25am, glad it's early, it means I won't have much time to get overly anxious!

Everything went well, I passed the check, they have booked a commitment appointment for the 21st but that's just in case my ESA info hasn't been sent over on time.
Just in case others go through it (I know it's different from person to person) they basically just asked my normal security questions, then asked about when I first started getting ESA, about other benefits and how much it is and my previous address.
Thanks to those who responded to my questions/concerns, especially Poppy and Overly Anxious.

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me, please?
When I applied to migrate I let them know my 31 year old son lives here and that I have no dependants, I then received an amount that they were going to pay for rent which was wrong, so I left a note in my journal because the housing services from the council that help with migration thought that they might be charging me bedroom tax, so I told them that I receive PIP which they know anyway but it's what I was advised to say and that my son lives with me, he is my carer and receives carers allowance and he should be disregarded for council tax and rent and the response was: -
Universal Credit are currently awaiting a Specialist Section to verify the People in your Household (Dependant Children)
Once they complete their actions your Universal Credit Housing Element entitlement will be recalculated.
Is this normal?! I let her know that I don't have dependants but they ought to already know that from when I applied, unless she meant non dependants?

It's to do with non dependants and not dependants. It's normal for them to need to verify everything before it's included in your claim. They need to verify that you're claiming a qualifying disability benefit before you're excluded from non dependant deductions.
You mention they know you're claiming PIP but they won't know until that's verified. Once it is then they will recalculate the amount you're entitled to. You will see the full breakdown of all elements you're entitled to once you receive your statement at the end of your assessment period.

Ahh I see, so she meant non dependants? Thanks for explaining, I hope it doesn't take too long.
To be fair, apart from them missing what I said in my journal about home visits, it's gone quite smoothly so far. I was able to sign the commitment agreement online so the appointment was cancelled for that. I just have to wait for the rent to be sorted? I was offered an advance but I don't need one, I put money to one side just in case.
Thanks again Poppy!
Oooh a new cat picture? Very cute cat! I've never been a big cat person after what happened to the one we had years ago, always dogs, but I adopted a dog and fostered a cat last year, the dog went a bit pear shaped but we ended up adopting the cat, I believe he's a BSH colour point? I don't even know if I got that right but he's a lovely grey colour (sometimes looks brown) with dark paws, ears and nose, he's gorgeous! I love him to bits.
Sorry about the change of topic there lol.

You're welcome. Yes she meant non dependants. Dependants wouldn't cause a reduction in housing element.
Thank you. Yes, I changed my profile picture yesterday. Alfie is a Siamese and has 2 blue eyes and he's not deaf. This is very rare in white cats because usually those with blue eyes are deaf.
Your bread of cat is very beautiful! and seems like he changed your thoughts about cats, that's lovely!
I've always been a cat person and have had them since I was a child.

Thanks, yeah I did explain he was my carer and receives carers allowance, I don't need to mention that he receives UC as well do I? He recently migrated from IS.
Siamese are beautiful, I remember my aunt having one when I was a child, she'd come and sit on my knee and give it a good knead lol.
I've only ever had 3 cats including Bronn. They were beautiful cats as well.
If I could figure out how to put a profile picture on here I'd upload one of Bronn.
He's very placid, doesn't really like to sit on you much, but does like to be around us, very spoilt boy but he deserves it, I think eventually I'm going to get another dog, a Lab probably, we lost our last Lab, Suzie last year, due to vet incompetence, I was very close to her, still miss her now, it's impacted my mental health to be honest. They aren't pets really, they are family members :)

No, you don't need to tell them he's claiming UC because there's no deductions anyway and your UC entitlement is based on just yourself, not your son.
To add a profile picture on the top right hand side of the screen click on the circle next the envelope. A box will appear so click on your name. On that screen at the top you will see what looks like a persons head and shoulders, click on that and edit profile. On the next screen on the right hand side click "change picture." Then at the bottom of that screen click "choose file" and then you can upload a picture and save avatar.
This is how it is for me anyway. Or you can just post a picture on your comment by either clicking "upload image" or click upload file. You can find both of those at the bottom of the comment box.
Bronn sounds very much like Afie, he doesn't like to sit on your lap but loves company. Very placid but quite scared in some situations like loud noises. I"m actually glad he doesn't like to sit on my lap because at 6+kg he's rather big ๐
I'm sorry you lost your dog, especially under those circumstances ๐pets are definitely a big part of the family.

Ok thanks again!
Bronn's about 5kg, excuse the first pic, he looks grumpy lol, he's not really a grumpy cat! Also, he changes colour often, sometimes his points look darker.

Oh my goodness, what a handsome boy he is!! Thank you for sharing and making me smile this morning! ๐

Anytime Poppy! He makes us smile all of the time.

Saying about cats, I started a thread about cats and put a pic of mine

Just a quick question, is there any way of telling if ESA have sent your details over to UC?
So when I initially started migrating the to do list had work search on it, then on Friday when I had the bio interview and passed that, as I said further up the women made the commitment interview or whatever it's called and said she'd book it for 2 weeks ahead and said hopefully we will receive your details quickly, she said once they did that appointment would then be cancelled, it was cancelled later that day and I signed the commitment thing online and the work search in the to do list disappeared, does that means they already have the details about my ESA SG or won't I be able to tell until the let me know how much I'll be paid?
I hope I explained that properly.
