The way I was able to tell was through the apply for an advance section- as first it showed I could have up to the standard allowance, then when my ESA status was confirmed the amount offered went up.

I didn't actually apply, just looked at the amounts offered.

At the moment it's saying £1,221.04.

I'm not sure what elements you are entitled to as everyone's circumstances are different.

Standard element + LCWRA is currently £809.64.

    That leaves £411.40.

I know you are expecting Housing Element, would that figure be about right for 30 days rent?

What does your commitments say? Does it say something like, to report all changes and log onto your journal regularly to check it? If so then ESA have sent your details across.

That right, that's what they have down for the rent at the moment and yes it does say that Poppy.

Thanks to you both for the help/advice :)

    Hi again!

Is there any reason as to why I would have to confirm my agreements twice? I just had another notice to confirm them again.

Are you getting New Style ESA alongside Universal Credit? (This happens if some of your old ESA was contributions based.) You may have to accept commitments for each one of those separately if you get both.

If it's another UC commitment, that is a bit odd, just double check that the actual commitments haven't changed (ie - make sure there are no work commitments added) then accept them again.

Nope, just IRESA SG and PIP.

This was the one from the 4th

This one is the one from today

Thank you for the screenshots. I can't see any differences there either, so not sure why you've been asked to accept them again.

You can put a message in the journal to ask about it if you like.

I don't think it'll cause any problems just to accept them but haven't seen this happen before so would be a bit cautious about it.

Yeah I accepted I was just confused as to why they'd asked me to sign it again.

I'm not overly bothered, I may asked them when I ask about the housing element at the end of the week. This is my work plan and my to do list is empty atm.

Does anyone know how long usually it takes for the housing element to be sorted and do I need to do anything about my council tax? The council tax looks fine still though.

It may take a few weeks for your rent liability to be confirmed. Your council tax will very likely be recalculated based on your UC entitlement.

    Ok, thanks Poppy :)

With my son being my carer and living here, he should still be classed as disregarded for both council tax and rent?

Yes, there's no non dependant deductions for housing element because your PIP includes the daily living part.

Also, I have a question about my rent, will I have to pay anything towards it? We have 2 rent free weeks per year with our council?

I was just looking at a benefits calculator and while I was on ESA I was receiving full HB, but for UC it drops it by about £4 pw.

Are you looking at the UC results for monthly entitlement?

It's easy to get confused ESA is calculated weekly whereas UC is a monthly benefit.

So the numbers can look slightly wrong, but they are actually right.

An example my rent is due weekly, in my UC payment it's not 4x1 week I receive, it's a month's worth (30 days).

Ahh I see! I was looking at both and yeah it is confusing.

    Thanks for explaining.

If you're renting from either social or council housing then your full rent will be paid unless you have spare bedrooms.

I THINK they've sorted the housing element out now?

The amount offered in advanced payment is now £1,288.02, my rent is £114.81. I've not yet received a message about it though.
