Autism/Depression

eeL had nothing to apologise for that I could see! We are a minority group in a world designed for NT's and claiming it isn't is far from helpful.
If vulnerable autistic women keep leaving the forum, I am bound to be concerned.

Good morning everyone. I hope you all have a good day. Please stay as warm as you can.
Take care.

I think the troubling comments were not about the world being designed for neurotypical (NT) people, but the divisive comments on NTs having different rules, half of them being "a*******s", who trample over one another for gain, and the comparison to ND people as having more empathy, harder lives and are poorer.
I understand why these comments were made and the intention behind them, but they are othering, and feel invalidating to the very real issues faced by other types of disabled people. I believe the point both Albus and Chiarieds have made is that we all face very similar struggles and should be united by that.
eeL, I hope you decide not to leave, I have enjoyed your posts and found them to be interesting.

Hi @eeL I am so very sorry you are leaving, I will miss you.

I neither meant to criticise nor judge you, eeL, and I apologise if it came across that way. As I mentioned, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading many of your posts.
I was explaining to WhatThe that the part they thought was the issue (the world being made for NT people) was likely not the real issue. The post I was referring to of yours was this one, where you made the comments I highlighted:
I am also neurodiverse, and as I mentioned, I understand why you have said what you have, and I do not necessarily disagree. However, it does create a divide between neurodiverse and neurotypical people, and I can understand why some other disabled people on the forum who are not neurodiverse may take offence.
It is a shame if you feel you need to stop posting, but please know that my post was not meant to offend or criticise you. I will repeat that I have thoroughly enjoyed many of your posts, and my only intention in joining this conversation was to explain to you and WhatThe what the issue might have been.
I apologise and will avoid commenting on non-benefit related posts again, so please do not leave on my account. You deserve the friendship you have found here.

For heaven's sake - I don't need anyone to explain that what I think is not the 'issue' especially when it is.
Discussing and criticising the NT world and society we live in doesn't create a divide - the divide is there. We've lived it, will continue living with it by the sound of things.
As eeL says, this is an Autism/Depression thread. Nobody has to read it. There are 101 other forums where the A-word won't be mentioned so I won't worry about any member leaving because they don't want to hear about autism.
I'm aware that Strawberry started this thread and that she doesn't like confrontation. It's unwanted and unnecessary on this thread. It will not further anyone's understanding.

eeL, it would also be a loss for me if you left to so can we try to work through this together? We can start anew and leave Strawberry's thread. We need each other and we need to keep this a safe space to unload.

Oh dear, this has all gone terribly wrong.
What I have clumsily tried to explain is what I took Albus’s comments to mean, as well as the offence others have taken. My intention was to lessen the hurt feelings, but I can see that I have had the opposite effect, for which I apologise sincerely. I meant no offence and am certainly not dismissing the challenges that we neurodiverse people face.
It is unfortunate that, although much of the discussion is on how we neurodiverse people are often misunderstood or find difficulty expressing things, greater leniency is not extended to all of us and I have been met with confrontation.
As I said, I hope eeL will reconsider, and I shall leave you all to it.

I just wanted to chime in here as I think the ND vs NT talk is pretty dangerous
..we shouldn't let our past experiences cloud how we move forward in life.. ..we need to learn to work with others to make others see our struggles.
Emilee, these are the comments which troubled me. I haven't been able to log on and jumped in out of concern for eeL. She found this autism thread earlier this month..

Oh no I'm saddened and I'm upset because ot takes alot for us to let our shield down it's very triggering when someone corrects you ON your own life experiences and turns it to make ot seem this is distressing I'm having my messages checked so I don't know if your received them do not let this get you down we all connected and you was offering comfort xx

I also thought this was a safe space, it is never my intention to ever upset or offend anyone. I am going through a hard time and I wrote comments on here to see if others had the same struggles as me, I just needed to rant as it’s detrimental keeping it all bottled up, and it really helps talking these things through with ppl that understand.

She was genuinely offering support and when it comes from a good heart good place it's leave the individual feeling they done wrong or they actually upset someone so then take it inwards and retract or think and believe thier no good and feeling ashamed and upset being autistic having people telling you what you thinking and saying is wrong is very triggering and can take people to dark place I truly believe she found this forum and felt apart of it I hope she comes back being undiagnosed autistic we all feel hurt upset almost offended and mostly shut down it's a sensitive subject I also hope summerlove is OK
