I’m still going to be asking for twice monthly payments. Requesting an APA will still be happening - that’s because I need more frequent payments. I can’t accept monthly payments when I don’t have the budgeting skills. I’ve never had them.

My second payment should be on Tuesday 25th March, 2 weeks on from my first payment.

Because of my APA, my payment dates should be 11th and 25th each month. And yes, I do know I won’t always get paid exactly on those dates every single month. I know it doesn’t work like on ESA, where I get paid on a Wednesday exactly 2 weeks apart each time. I don’t forget that even with an APA it will vary from month to month on UC with weekends and any bank holidays to factor in. I won’t always get paid on the 11th and 25th each month.

Like I have said in my thread, I’m going to be getting from the Help to Claim Service. They’ve given me their reassurances this week that even if I don’t get through to one of their advisors on the day I want to claim (5th Feb), they’ll still be able to provide support up to my first correct payment.

The plan is to telephone the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service, they’ll then put me through to UC. A three-way call will be happening if I get connected to an advisor. They apparently have a priority line - which allows them to get through to Universal Credit more quickly.

But if I can’t get through to the HTC service on that Wednesday (5th Feb) due to them being too busy, they’ve said to me that I can still approach the DWP myself, put in the claim, then get back to them and tell them I’ve submitted it. The HTC service will still be able to give me assistance up to the first correct payment from UC, regardless of if I have to submit the claim via the Universal Credit helpline.

I know much people go on about having an online account for handling your claim, that it makes it easier. But, a telephone claim works better for me, that’s the preference.

I know I’ll have to contact the UC helpline if I have any queries or if I need to do anything important as part of my claim - that isn’t a problem to me.

Were you aware that even with an online account (Journal), you can still telephone them if you prefer that.

Anyway, good luck and let us know how it goes. You have it all figured out 👍🏻

I could have claimed it last week when I got a PIP payment and ESA payment on back to back days (Tuesday 7th January and Wednesday 8th January). But, I ended up changing my mind. I won’t be changing my mind again, in 3 weeks time when I get PIP and ESA payments on consecutive days again that claim is being submitted. I need to get on to UC so not only will I be better off, it’ll be out of the way.

No I wasn’t aware of that to be honest. I don’t think I’ll be providing a running commentary during the 5 weeks but I’ll certainly be saying when I’m on UC. They just need to give my payments twice monthly - that’s the biggest requirement.

Thanks a lot for your best wishes, there shouldn’t any issues to be honest.

I do talk rather intelligently 😂 but what I’m like with money is a very different matter. I don’t have the budgeting skills 😂.

Have you seen the images I attached, showing what my 5 week wait for my first UC payment will look like? In that 5 week wait I won’t have a 3 week gap without money - thanks to my PIP.

PIP payment - Tuesday 4 Feb

ESA payment - Wednesday 5 Feb. On this day, the claim is submitted

Two week run on payment from ESA/final ESA payment - Wednesday 19 Feb

    March’s PIP payment - Tuesday 4 Mar

1 week later on Tuesday 11 Mar - first UC payment

That’s what my 5 week wait looks like, at no point during that 5 week period do I actually have a 3 week gap without any money. 👍

    @Morgan_Scope

Hi Morgan, I’ve dropped some emails to the Community’s email inbox, just asking for some minor modifications to be applied to some posts on my thread. I’m absolutely terrible at treating very small mistakes like they’re something that can’t go unnoticed. I can’t help it 😂.

I like my sentences to be as error-free as possible.

    I know we’re only human but I can’t help myself. 😂😂😂

I don’t just think I have autism, I also think I have a condition called Correct Mistake Syndrome. 😂😂😂😂

If you do go ahead and claim your first payment of UC on 11th March will be for half the amount, if the APA is put into place by then, the other half will be around 2 weeks later.

It’s not going to be a case of “if you do go ahead” Poppy, I’ll be claiming definitely it from next month. Need to get this sorted once and for all.

I hope you feel less stressed about things, once you get the ball rolling.

I should be once that ball starts rolling and I don’t see how my claim can go wrong in any aspect to be honest, it should be fine.

I can trigger a claim to UC sooner without it being a risk as I’ll be receiving more money.

If my ESA had the Severe Disability Premium in it I wouldn’t be able to just do a “voluntary migration” as I’d be missing out on entitled Transitional Protection/TP. I’d be having to wait for a migration notice then claim it to ensure I’d be getting the Transitional Protection. I’d be having to go down the “managed migration” route.

I used to dread any sort of contact from DWP, but now I am much less concerned. I'm sure that as long as a claimant has no change of circumstances, there is no problem.

My circumstances have always remained the same while I’ve been on Income Related ESA, in the Support of Group. I’ve never had a reason to contact them.

I’ve been on it since leaving college. Now 30 years old so it’s been over 10 years. It’ll have been before 2015 when I was placed into the Support Group. I have never been capable of working, it’s not for me. The workplace would be too challenging, I’m not the best with changes of routine and that happens a lot in the workplace as from day to day different challenges can arise.

When I’m on UC I should be left alone a lot like I have been on ESA. If UC want me to get in contact with them in regards to do something that has to be dealt with I’ll of course be notified.
